Is the WORST RATED CRUISE in Europe WORTH IT?

  • Was this week long European cruise WORTH IT? We embarked this cruise ship in Barcelona and set sail for 7 nights cruising the Mediterranean Sea. We were traveling on one of the most controversial cruise ships. A lot of people said that the food is absolutely garbage and the entertainment was non-existing, BUT we wanted to see for ourselves. When we saw this deal we thought it was too good to pass up at the price of €350 per person for a week! This comes to €50 ($54 USD) per night! Here is our review and experience on this cruise ship.

I agree with cruises. I would so love to spend far more time to explore at each port. I don’t care how cheap an inside, windowless room would be, I have to see out. A patio is even better.

@@lawrenceedger292 I know the last reunion in Europe there was a Rhine cruise some went on, not sure where else they went. I'd really like to find some getaways in some of the former Soviet block countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary. Since that was the time frame I was stationed in Germany, before the Berlin Wall came down.

@@rhiahlMT As an extension to our river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam we have booked a land based tour doing exactly this. We will start in Prague, then travel to Berlin, Warsaw & Krakow (each for 2 night stay) before joining the river cruise in Budapest. I think many of the different river cruise companies do these types of extensions to their river cruises. I previously did a shorter river cruise from Vienna to Nuremberg for the Xmas markets and really enjoyed this way of travel as we were in a new place each day and had plenty of time to explore. There are plenty of UA-cam channels that have examples of what river cruising is like that you can check out.

My personal opinion on ship cruises is that you have a wonderful opportunity to explore where you want to stay for a longer period. Let's say, you find out that you like Sicily very much, you can book a two week vacation afterwards in order to check out the island.
One day is definitely only enough to explore a city or an area ... but you can get a good first impression.

  • @carstenstasch5141

Things like the bowl are "stuck or glued" to prevent them from moving or even hurting you in heavy sea ;-)

  • @petebeatminister
    @petebeatminister 3 місяці тому +6

The ship looked pretty decent, clean and modern. Those problems with being crowded and standing in lines waiting ect. is nothing unuasual on cruises, unless you book the premium class trips. Also the rush during city visits is the norm - its expensive to stay in a horbour for long. And also people want to see many different places during one or two weeks, so they cant stop for longer in one harbour.
The food... oh well, if you always find some acceptable option its not too bad.
I heard some horror stories about all inclusive hotels in Turkey and Greece, which were not much cheaper but a lot worse. Dirt and cockroaches and a noise and bad food...

There are adult only cruiselines, and lines that are not heavily family oriented. So there are options out there for us who just can't or don't want to have a cacophony of crotch goblins around us if taking a cruise. I'm autistic and kids are my absolute worst sensory overload trigger, so I'd personally have to go with such a cruiseline that is adult only or not family oriented to avoid or at least minimize exposure. I can literally be out of commission for days if I'm exposed to noisy kids and can't get away in a timely manner

Wow!! Thanks for the info!! Looks like this would be heaven for me coming from a military life style. Looks like the food is way better than what the US Navy is accustomed to and the US Navy is fed better than the US Army infantry. I grew up as a kid in a Navy family with my Uncle who was a Chief Petty Officer on an aircraft carrier in California and seen what US Navy Sailors lived in and ate, way better than being a Paratrooper and Infantryman. I remember seeing a ship anchored in Barcelona back in 2007 when I visited there, is this the same cruise line? The prices looked great too. I think about doing this cruise in the future. Much better than what the US Navy and Marines who are on aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships cruising the Mediterranean Sea.😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

I did a very similar cruise with MSC in January (Barcelona, Marseille, Genova, La Spezia, Napoli, Palma de Mallorca) for 55€/night as a solo cruiser. For the price alone, you would easily spend 30+€ per meal if you eat a 3/4-course meal in Italy at a touristy area.
To me, cruising is 50% about the ship, 50% about the destination, which is why you cannot expect to have a deep, immersive experience compared to staying on land, but just a gentle introduction or a relaxing re-visit of a place.
I cruise when it is good value for money, just like some people like a cheap all-inclusive beach resort in Turkish Riviera or Egypt in winter. But with cruising, you get the added benefit of seeing new place every day.

Cruise with Ben and David went on another budget cruiseline a while back in Greece, and that cruise looked absolutely amazing in every way. It was a pretty small ship too. If I remember it correctly, the cruiseline they went with was called Celestyal Voyages or something along those lines. So maybe look that up if you want a more relaxing, less crowded cruise with better food, while still in about the same price range or just above. Think the cruise Ben and David was on, went from Athens and it was a Greek islands cruise

I tend to (only half jokingly) say that I'm allergic to children, because I seriously get very unwell from being around them. I just can not handle the frequency of their voices no matter if they're talking, crying or screaming, and the way they move and run around triggers me as well.

Germans don't sleep under the same blanket? I don't remember that from my high school trip in 1992. 😂

It's a European thing in general I think. I'm Swedish, and here it's difficult to even find anything else than single blankets in stores. I've never had a double blanket even in hotels around Europe. Think only time ever that I've had a double blanket, was at the hotel I stayed at in Los Angeles (which is obviously not Europe) and maybe in China, though I think even in China it was two blankets in a double bed at least a majority of the time if not all the time. Can't fully remember about China as my hotel stays there were mostly during the summer, and summer in China can get really hot (at least by my European standards) with very high humidity. Hottest day I had in China was 37°C and very humid, so essentially normal body temperature or slightly below, in the air. I loved the heat there though

Any Cruise would be worth $50

Ich würde definitiv sagen, dass ihr euch die falsche Reederei ausgesucht habt. Da gibt es andere, die ein viel besseres Preis-Leistunsverhältnis haben.
