David is a work of art in itself !
This is so beautiful, to think it's made out of tiny glass pieces is pretty awesome.
when you can fall in love with the subject of a painting, the artist has done their work well.
WOW :) . No room for error or a shaky hand. So lovely ❤️
It's not a painting
One of the most laid back responses to a great appraisal. "Cool." I would have to guess that he already knew the value of his piece and was just already happy to be showing it at this occasion. His reaction is much like the withering response to a working artist..."well, it is a pretty picture."
Sometimes it's the person not wanting to appear crass and greedy. Otherwise it would seem like a game show.
That was my gut response too. sometimes when shows like this become well known, after a period of time, people bring stuff just to show it off, and maybe to give the piece publicity and an appraisal on TV. Kind of like Pawn Stars which does the same thing sometimes.
WEll, to be fair, I don't think he was there to find out about the money. He really wanted to figure out who actually created it, a question that I don't think was for certain answered, if I recall what I just watched.
The wealth of knowledge David has is very impressive.
The wealth of the owner of that artwork is also quite impressive!
not to mention his side profile!

Jon.... He has an ear piece and the producers are telling him what to say!
@@sheldoncampbell2139 he is so hot🔥right? What is his full name?
As an art conservator I have worked on severely damaged micro mosaics. They are amazing works of art. This one is stunning. I wish they had shown a very close up shot of it so that people could see what a micro mosaic looks like in person. I'm surprised at the value they placed on it.
Do you think the valuation is too low? Seems very much so to me.
Why surprised? Too little? Too much?
@@MellowWind I have no credentials in appraisal, in fact, it is verboten for a conservator to consider value of an object during the treatment of an object. That said, we still are often exposed to what an object is valued at and one acquires a background 'sense' of value based on years of exposure, the esthetic beauty, artistic skill, rarity, etc.
Yes, it seems low to me.
@@piedpiper7051 Me too. Thanks.
It needs to go to auction. Sotheby's. Way, waay, undervalued ...with the Beatrice history?? And micro mosaic?? It's got to be at least 100,000.00!
The real artwork is on the right 🔥🔥hubba hubba 🔥🔥🔥
The painting is beautiful too 😄👏🏽
Love Antique Road Show
Yes! I had the same thought!
hee hee
That is incredible! The craftsmanship is something I've never seen before. 👍👍
David Walker...dream boat...😍
Georgous appraiser...I mean the painting 😁
Stunningly gorgeous.. the artwork is great as well 😂
I'm surprised at the number of other comments that say the same thing.
His British accent is the icing on the cake. 😛
What an incredible work, it boggles my mind that people are able to create something like this.
When i went to Sotheby's (I used to work down the streeet and would occasionally come to browse on lunch breaks) they once had this beautiful micromosaic table with an elaborate flower picture on it. It was stunning.
I hope the owner auctioned it and it’s in a museum now. It’s such a beautiful piece!
The appraisser is a stud! I hope to have with him in the future.
Oh my heart. Incredibile work, it must be a labour of love, a meticulous process. I had no awareness of micrmosaiics, astounding skill.
Jesus Christ, that David Walker is drop dead gorgeous!!!!
That appraiser looks like a prince.
I realize I am pretty randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Danny Aries I use flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Maximo Solomon Definitely, I've been watching on FlixZone for since april myself =)
@Maximo Solomon thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it !!
@Danny Aries no problem :)
Stunning work of art, so intricate.
This guy is by far the best looking appraiser who ever appeared on the road show. He could have been a model.
Looks like a son of Clint Eastwood.
Take a cold shower 🧼
The mosaic is absolutely stunning.
His reaction was probably not what he was expecting. Lol
i feel like the guy built it up then under valued it its like a piece like this is rare of this size his like pieces like this have been on show then he just low balls it his likes its from 1600
Who's who?
You can always tell if they’re surprised and excited or let down. He was most certainly let down!
mean you are.
love it when appraisers start to leap about
That dude looks like Clint Eastwood in the early years!
Now I can't unsee that.
I think it was a painting of a female so it can't be Clint Eastwood.

🤭😂🤣
This picture is stunning
He said it's not a picture but a painting from Russia.
3:53 that detailed image is just amazing
Beatrice was a badass
but, at the same time, she could look so innocent.
amazing how some of us are remembered for centuries
@@friskydinngo great insight.
Wow! What an incredible medium, and so beautifully rendered
Wonderful!! I hadn't heard of this type of application before!
This guy knew what he had
So what?
Not exactly. Whether in the intent of your accusation or misunderstanding his exact verbage. although yes he DID have a micromosaic that indeed was by virtue of the signature, done by WHAT THIS GUEST INITIALLY AND CLEARLY thought was either by the father or the son, of which he mentions. However, when David later reveals that there are in fact MORE than just that father and son duo of artists in that family, what confounds me beyond logic and reasoning is your near flat out declaration of "this guy knew what he had". I'd perhaps agree with you if at the beginning the guest - instead of his EXPLICITLY STATED QUERY of whether is was by the father or the son, and instead not only indicated to this appraiser David that he was aware of more than just the father and son, and so therefore through David's well documented academic background and experience for his young age- whether he could positively confirm or attribute this to just ONE of those documented Moglia family artists; but clearly this guy has NO inkling whatsoever of any Moglia family artists than the more famous father and son. The "so what" reply you get here too doesn't even get close to the astonishment I have in how you ever conclude that this man knew what he had!?
That is true art!!!! WOW!!!!!!
The owner could hardly contain his excitement. It was amazing to see.
🤣🤣🤣
Breathtaking
Absolutely beautiful!
Love these shows! Thank You!!!
Gorgeous picture.
Love the art, also love another piece of art standing by the frame, the appraiser is utterly hot.
The sheer time it must have taken to create this is incredible. And I thought my wood working project took long
Ha Ha Me to
Let's not get too excited there, Mr. Potted Plant. It's only $85k.
Lol!
I got more excited when I got my $600 stimulus 😂
@@csrstlo Me, too. Yay! [and I'm an old retired guy, so the pandemic hasn't really affected our economic situation]
Hard to be surprised/excited when you know what you have.

🙌HILARIOUS
The micro mosaic is a genre work of the highest order. I would hv enjoyed seeing it very close up for therein lies its mastery.
But not just in the construction of the final product, the entire process from making the materials to final product is an example of the master craftsman.
The hours taken to produce something like this, must have been incredible.
I personally nearly lept over my sofa to take a look at DAVID. WOOF
I know right 😆
Woof is right.
@@SicilianStealth Looks like you got it going on there too Michael S

David Walker is a Dream Boat! ⛵
Stunning
"Cool"💁♂️~I love his relaxed demeanor about the value:)
This just blows my mind how someone painstakingly placed little bits of colored glass together to make such a beautiful art piece. It actually looks worth more than $85,000
I think the appraiser expected MORE of a response than "Cool!.
That was appropriate response, translate to English: you have no idea. I think the price should multiply by 10 or even 100.
Absolutely beautiful
„Cool“
Love his Jordan Schlanski impersonation
That's a beauty
Most of you have seen the British version of Antique Roadshow. I can’t believe it’s mostly done OUTSIDE! One lucky bird let’s a dump out in mid air and it hits some half million pound painting and, BOOM, lawsuit!!!
A beautiful mosaic.
Undervalued imo
That image is totally *AMAZING!* Wonder what type of adhesive was utilized for the glass bits?
Best episode!!
WONDERFUL!
I love art
Would love to see how these are made!😃
This is awesome!
David Walker got it all right. Except it is enamel, not glass. A similar Beatrice Cenci is on the cover of my latest book, Micromosaics Private Collections, and with an extensive entry on the mosaic and others like it. The book is available on Amazon, Ebay and from me directly through my website. Jeanette Hanisee Gabriel, author.
I think the owner was hoping for more. When you consider the amount of work and the skill that went into that piece, I'm surprised, myself, it wasn't more. I was expecting something like $200,000.
Nice !!
$85,000...cool
I thought that! Cool! 😏🤔
" Cool " , that's it ? must already be filthy rich to act so cool at an 85,000 dollar
appraisal.
He was way too laid back. Lol, Underwelmed
Maybe he’s an idiot and thought it’s be a million dollars
Simply, but not simply amazing.
Unbelievable 😲😲😲
Woww
David and Scott Eastwood could be twins .
beautiful
Maybe the girl with the pearl earring by Vermeer should be called ‘Beatrice’ .
I thought the same thing when I saw this. She looks so much like the girl in The girl with the pearl earring
Is no one impressed with $85k anymore?
No one born into extreme wealth, like this guy clearly is, will be excited by $85k.
I think he kind of had an idea that it was quite valuable considering his family was into antiques dealing
One guy... How do you jump to conclusions?
He must have been expecting close to a million or more
@@gia5018 That's exactly what I'm thinking. Shameful. To die with money and still wanting more has to be the ugliest way to go.
So just cool!🤔🤔🤔
I would've thought it would be more expensive than 80k. It's really pretty and the work that went into it can't have been a joke.
Way cool!
Cool. (But i was expecting more)
How beautiful
Ohh Beatrice 💔💔💔
only rich people say "cool" very casually when they hear $85,000... while I'm here eating my Top Ramen 🍜
Disgusting ain't it?
So funny to read this comments. The episode just finished and watching this that we are actually finishing eating the last scope of my ramen noodles with mix vegetables. Lol.
$85,000 is not an impressive price in the world of art. As he states at one point in the beginning, family was in the art dealing business. He probably is not poor, and he is also accustomed to at least hearing about a lot more valuable art that what we have here. By the way, I usually go for Miso Ramen no-meat at my nearby Japanese restaurant. It's only $14 but you get to eat for two nights. What? Don't tell me now that's too expensive for you.
@@sorellman Actually said his grandmother was an Antique dealer not his family was in the Art dealing business.. do some research before replying
@@anthonyp2506 What's the difference between grandmother being an Antique dealer and the "family was in the art dealing business" I said. None. Also what should I research? This is about watching and commenting on what is stated in the video. And since you are so keen to detail, pay attention to him saying the painting was in his grandmother's home. Grandmother was an antique dealer, meaning, he knew exactly its worth. That's why he is not surprised and why he does not react to the price announcement. Last but not the least this is a TV show, and like all TV shows nothing just happens. In this instance they knew before hand what is going to happen and they kind of knew what they were going to say. Are you done with your Top Ramen, little poor thing?
Rick from pawn stars would offer 50 bucks but only after he gets his buddy down there to inspect it
That same tiresome comment, again and again, on every ARS video. Give it a break, star.
The Frame is bigger then the picture. Best I can do is 20 dollars and I am taking a Big risk
I’ll have to have it cleaned up, reframed, put in my shop... there’s not a big interest in old paintings.... best I can do is $20 and I’m taking a big risk.... 🤣
"cool"
I know, right? Kinda want to slap him.
@@brucedillinger9448 don’t slap him
Yeah ridiculous response! 😏
"I nearly leapt over my colleague to look at this." Now, there's naked and unalloyed enthusiasm for you.
It's that stunning tho...
Woman’s intuition is telling me that art is far worth more than 85 grand! That’s why the owner was so calm cause he knows it’s worth more than what that appraiser said it was worth! Lol
A victim, a murderer, a hero, and punished. Times have not changed.,😪
I wish they had done a macro closeup on this.
cool..
"Cool. Excellent."
He reacted like he drives around with 85k in the glove compartment at any given time.
She is posed the same as Vermeer's "Girl with a Peral Earring".
"Cool!"
I got the feeling the owner was hoping it had a higher value.
Not even the camera lense were able distinguish this was a mosaic.
Keep it, you will never see something like it again
He doesn't seem very excited.
Nobody on earth is going to believe what I’m about to say, but…I was recently shown by my Higher Self the Red around this picture in my mind’s eye. A few, what looked like, pencil drawings of pictures, although not very clear at all, morphed inside and then faded away. That was around mid-day for me. Then later on that evening, I went onto UA-cam. In my UA-cam feed was an Antiques Roadshow video. When I looked at it, the Red caught my eye, so I touched it, and then the video started to play. I was STUNNED! I saw a picture inside the Red “box” that turned out to be a picture, of ME! I was so shocked that I threw my iPad down and shouted out loud “That was ME”! The 3 people in my family I’ve told don’t believe me, but that’s ok. I know exactly what happened, and nobody on earth can convince me otherwise. It was the coolest thing that has ever happened to me. I still can’t believe it, and it’s been about 3 weeks now.
I can't believe it was only worth that much.
It's worth whatever one is willing to pay for it. At auction, it could fetch much more.
I tot so too
Only 85k? Hmm...
"Cool"
Appraiser "It's worth $85,000."
Owner "Cool."
Classy American.
"If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"
You don't understand the pressure or anxiety this man may have been experiencing while being filmed. Take a moment to think of others and how they feel, rather than stereotyping how they respond to where they're from.
Very classy comment, Maria Clara Mayonnaise. 😎💅🏻
i feel that thing is worth way more then $85,000 then guy giving the value knows nothing claims the piece is rare for its size and history pieces like this have been on show
You can tell he thought it was worth more
The reason they did these is because they were really easy to do and the artist could easily talk their dumbie buyers into giving them millions of dollars for a Mickey Mouse painting that only took 10 minutes to create.
I’m sure it’s worth a lot more than 85k surely
the price more than 85K ........
"$85,000!! That's all?? I was hoping for $250,000. No offense but I think I'd like a 2nd opinion." :)
