More info on the Expo 74 F units from my old 1973 BN Annual. Eight BN (former NP) passenger F7-A units were sold to Amtrak and numbered Amtrak 100-107. Seven F7-B and F3-B former NP passenger units were sold Amtrak and numbered Amtrak t150-156. According to the annual, BN 9774 was initially numbered Amtrak 102 (the first of the group to be repainted into Amtrak colors) but was later renumbered 101 while 9776 was renumbered 102.

Another great video Lee! So fun too see BN and Amtrak in their early days.

It looks like the F7s on the Expo '74 train were former NP. The train ran only one season for Expo '74 in Spokane, and the train crews didn't mind you opening up the dutch doors for a better view of the scenery. Nowadays you'd be arrested for that.

Thank you Lee. Simply outstanding footage. That scene of Amtrak 792 (the "Expo 74"; not sure why Mr. Harris referred to 101 and 107, as the May 1974 Amtrak timetable lists the eastbound Expo as 792 and westbound as 791) climbing out of the Columbia River Valley is priceless. Eastern Washington is fairly remote so one does not see film of this part of the state very often. My bias may be evident but I think WA has more scenic variety than any other state. Harris covered a lot of it in a very short time; that is a LOT of driving (on two-lane roads) to get from Quincy to Skykomish and back, and he put some tough miles on the old Plymouth.

Oh my bad!!! I looked back at Harris' notes and he DID write 792 and 791 but in parentheses he had written 107 then 101 which were the locomotive #s not the train #!! I got things transposed. Thanks for pointing that out. I certainly stand corrected!
