Excellent job assessing the Metra, AS! I really enjoyed this! I’m really surprised that this service didn’t have more traction, but hopefully Metra could start running the service on the weekends like you were alluding to. You had a great seat and some phenomenal views to go along with that! I still can’t believe you only paid $7 for ride, that’s a fraction compared to any other method of transport! You definitely have inspired me to try a train in the near future! I’m glad you had a blast, well done!
I loved the video AS! I actually don't live far from the BNSF line and used to ride it a lot when I was younger and this video brings back so many memories! There are a few stops on the BNSF that are so close together that it takes a minute at most to get to the next one
Thanks a lot man and I knew you would! It’s really crazy how you can stand at one stop and see the next one just hundreds of feet away 😂 Metra is really like a bus in that sense.
Terrific! We don’t have MARC Brunswick line and Camden Line on the weekend. We only have WMATA-metro and Penn Line to take people to Dc on the weekend. I wish that they could run a lot of trains on the weekend.
I too love train travel. My friend and I have a goal to ride every Metra line in the system. We still have a couple more to do, the North Central Service being one of them. I am also a Metra freak if you want to call it that. I know so much about Metra its not even funny. I can tell you every stop on 10 of the 11 lines, and I can also identify the locomotives they operate. I even know a lot of the history of the railroad
No problem!!! I do think that they could accommodate more trains to and from stations nearby the airport especially on the weekends. I sure hope to see a positive change in the future. Keep up the content
Having lived in a western Chicago suburb in the early 80's, I was privileged to see the BN E-9's doing their thing, always a thrill to see two connected, pulling down a rush hour schedule,no doubt that run WILL be on-time with that much horsepower up front! Good to see you have travel options to Chicago from Champaign, Greyhound,Amtrak or American Eagle--can only imagine how you felt getting up a o' dark-thirty to catch your Greyhound. Was this a day trip for the AI show, home later in the evening? How far is the Blue Line Rosemont station from where you are here in the video? Guessing the federal mask mandate still in place judging with you masked up getting off the train. Can we expect a video or two on your journey home?
What a time that must’ve been with the E9’s! The Blue Line is much closer to all the hotels, around a 15min walk from the Metra station. Yes this was a day trip and I took Amtrak home, that video will come soon. The mask mandate has been dropped months ago but I chose to keep my mask on at times.
Having taken the Milwaukee North line 4 times, I can say Metra is a pretty good service. At the time, I felt it was better GO transit, but I think GO might be looking to increase over the next few years
Indeed it is! GO is a cool system as well, but a lot of what they’re doing confused me especially the huge stations they’re building with even bigger parking garages 😂
@@ASAviation you must be talking about Bloomington, which sees 5 peak direction trains a day, and a parking structure built for wayyyy more ppl than the trains can carry... yeah, changes are coming🙄🙄

AS Aviation that MP36 number you mentioned that was MP36 422
Interesting how did you find that out?

Least frequent north suburban line competing with UPN, MDN, UPNW, MDW.
The reason why there's a station called Mars is because the factory right next to the station is The Mars Candy Factory.

Awesome report sir!!! The Metra has an extensive service but not the HC and NCS like you mentioned
Thanks a lot man and I knew you’d enjoy it! I love Metra, but the HC and NCS just need more service…especially the NCS.

AS What's the top speed on Metra North Central Service?
So it's your FIRST time taking Metra, and you wonder why there isn't more service?
Cars destroy cities.
What camera do you use ⁉️
For this one I used the Sony HDR-CX240. I mainly use the HX400V and GoPro hero 9.
