The loop he used to hold the line up there to give him slack to work with was a slip knot and the knot he used to tie it was a bowline.

Why thank you 😊 I am one of them. It is super adictive! Once you learn a few basics you just keep learning more and more! ❤ It's just a matter of persistence (to learn the knot) and heaps of repitition to make them at any given moment or when they are required at the drop of a hat 😊 lots of fun, great way to spend free time to kill boredom. Get into it! ❤

WHEN I started doing this at 15 yrs old in 1975,, We didn't know anything about ropes etc. Just climbing spikes and a belt and a saw. My first topping of approx 76' Pine ( 76' at where I topped ) they warned me it would be a WILD RIDE, BUT hold on, you'll be fine. I think I pissed my pants, well actually I did . That tree swung side to side so darn far I thought for sure I would be catapulted into the next Town.. LOL. What a Natural High/Rush... Love how you guys do it today. God Bless you and your families. Stay Safe Stay Healthy Positive and Blessed my friends My Brothers and Sisters in God Above. Amen.

Ngl most tree guys use 4-5 knots total and they’re all variations of the bowline. He used a running bowline on a half hitch to have two tie in points on that log and it’s just a variation of the bowline. You got midline and bowline on a bight, bowline with a yosemite finish, and the cows hitch.
