I am trying to see that movie. Heard he actually slept with those females in the movie.

Groundbreaking, but not great. Just like James Naismith invented basketball but would get washed by even a G League benchwarmer from modern times.

Great list. I agree with top ten but disagree with number one. At the time in the 70s I agree Shaft is number one but the movie most mentioned over the years is clearly Cooley High. It's way surpassed the rest.

Yeah, I’m a bit torn but I can understand Shaft being ranked number one as far as popularity across generations

Solid list. Though I'd replace Foxy Brown with Claudine. And Mahogany is way better than Lady Sings the Blues.

This is a good list. But far from great! THE MACK starring the late Max Julian and Richard Pryor should be on the top of the list in my opinion!
It's a movie of style, revolution, and substance, as well as being thought-provoking. It's a cool and timeless classic with great acting, life lessons, and interesting proverbs.
It's also a film that influenced hip-hop music and culture and highlighted the brilliant writings of literary legends Robert Beck aka ICEBERG SLIM and Donald Goines.

Yes, The Mack🙏🏿 Choosing just ten from such a revolutionary decade for black films was definitely a hard task.
