Nukeproof electron evo pedals, 35 pounds with sealed bearings, probably the best pedals you can get for a price like this and even some 50-60 pound pedals suck compared to them, alot of people I know including me use them, they have removable pins too with sizes 8, 10 ,12 which is really nice.
If you prefer Aluminium like me, the Superstarcomponents Nano-X pedals are a good choice. Around £39 and 440g for the steel axle version aren't bad. They come with a two pin set (8 and 10mm) and optional with a Titanium axle. Available in 8 elox colours. I'm using them for half a year now on my freerider - no issues so far and very satisfied.
dartwadermovies that's a heavy set of pedals lol issa joke I'm in America so when I saw it first it threw me off. but then I reread it knowing it's another word for Cash.
My shins hate those big metal pins! You use all pins - it's hard to bail; you use half - you slip and "oh hello, shin!". I ended up using plastic flats with plastic pins for both DH and trials, never failed me and still not worn off after 3 years.
Changed from cheap plastic flats to DMR Vault recently. The difference is amazing, I really recommend investing into a quality pair for everyone. Even if you buy expensive ones it's a bang for the money and will change how you feel on your bike within seconds! Don't forget to protect your shins though :D
magnesium pedals are great for survival purposes , scrape it with a screwdriver to get magnesium scrapings and put a spark to it ....WOOSHHHHH HOT FIRE!!!!
Pin style makes a huge difference. The grub screws are a pita and definitely don't bite as well as the thinner pins do in my Nike SB's. The grub screws are too thick to fit easily in the grooves on the sole. Good luck getting them out with anything other than Vice Grip pliers after you peen the opening over on rocks too.
Specialized Boomslang are pricey but they are the best flats i have used, fantastic grip and pretty much indestructable, where i ride its hugely rocky terrain and i havent even bent or lost a pin in the last 14 monthsdespite plenty of paint being removed by rocks.
He's pronouncing them "pedaws". It's a lower class South East English accent thing ("saaf eas"). We tend to drop our "Ls" from certain words. Kettle becomes more like "kettaw". Trouble sounds like "trubuw". Girl sound like "girw" etc. You get the gist.. 😎
Can you recommend a so called slight "upgrade" to stock plastic that has short pins. I've ridden MTB 3+ years now with my stock plastic (specialized). I like that they don't chew up my shins (maybe slipped off 3 times in 3+ years). You will slip up in any pedal at some point and that damage I've seen on other people's legs .. well they keep pushing me to "upgrade" and I point to their shins. There has to be a more conservative upgrade.
@MBRMagazine Based on pedal characteristics (footprint, weight, cost) I'm deciding whether to get the VMR Vaults or the Crank Brothers Stamp L...which one would you recommend and why?
Hi I am 14 years old and have size 7 feet I like to ride endure and have a budget of £60 the peddles I use right now keep on letting my feet slip when wet or when I'm going Ruth stuff . Do you have any suggestion on what peddles i should get ? Would love to have some advise @MBR
you're never going to get perfect grip, but it might be worth looking at your style and shoes as well as just the pedals. make sure your weight is evenly distributed and your feet are planted on the pedals. Also what shoes are you using? flat soled skate-type shoes are going to grip far better than shoes with chunky soles etc. If that's all sorted I'm a major fan of superstar nano pedals. they're very cheap, look great and are bomb proof. I've had one set for years, they've been used in all conditions, been bashed and battered and still work perfectly, as well as being incredibly grippy.
i know it's expensive but consider shoes as well. you need flat grippy shoes like skateboard shoes. also if you have 7 feet, that's a lot of pedals you will need to buy 😀
Interesting video. I would also encourage trying the pedals first. I had some DMR v8s on a bike that got stolen so I put v12s on my new bike thinking they would be better. While they may be better in some ways, I preferred the feel of the v8s. Anyway, both are way better than the shitters that came with the bikes!
Plastic pedals can be a great choice - they're lighter, much cheaper and can be even more robust as long as the internals are good quality. Grip levels on the best models - such as the Burgtec and HT - are basically as good as on alloy pedals.
@@Jxrd99 from wiggle .. love them .. I've ordered another pair for my kona fire mountain..they will be here next week .have a look at my vids . cheers buddy
another addition to this; when you buy pedals with pins, take them out one by one and add some nail polish or locktite to the thread. otherwise you're sure to lose lots of them. i lost a quarter of them in about 2 weeks prior to doing this and not a single one since.
well then you havent looked close enough. There must be a reason why the biggest shop for trial bikes offers such a big variety of caged pedals: www.tartybikes.co.uk/caged_pedals/c149.html
yes, they offer plenty of grip, but are even worse for your shins than platforms. uh clips would be freaking scary, dont even want to imagine how many of my bones i would have broken...
price has gone up and quality has gone down. i have gone through 10 sets of pedals in 2 years. almost all pedals i have tried are trash. ironicly wellgo b117 have been the best and have been the cheapest. i just picked a set of crankbrothers stamps large which have no cartrige bearings and right out of the box 1 pedal had play in the axle. 90 bucks, total crap. sent them back for a refund. not even wasting my time with them.
The thinner pedals thing has just to do with stupid style and not function. You probably cant even measure any noticable improvements by going for lets say 12 mm thick instead of 15 mm thick pedals. An come on, whats up with the weight saving stupidity? They are 76 gramms lighter. Oh how nice. Wait a second let me take a 76 ml sip of water out of my bottle real quick.
I wonder how is this hard to understand for you. I speak English as my third language and I have absolutely no problems understanding the speech in this video. Frankly he articulated so well, that I hardly even noticed that it was not spoken in my native language.
You are saving 76 gramms? What? No way? This is fucking stupid, just eat a bread more at breakfast and your 76 gramm advantage is gone. Are you a roadbiker or what? (I dont hate roadbikers)
Phoenix probem isnt just 76 grams on pedals but 40 grams on bottle holdres, 40 grams on new cables, 200 grams on stronger tires, 80 grams on a more comfy saddle. all this add to half a kilo on your already heavy bike.

Pretty high quality!! Great infos, great script and presentation.

I don't think too many flat pedal fans are concerned with a few extra grams..
Those extended pins are gonna turn every shin into delicious meaty blood burger, every time you slip off the flats....
dhdoctors shin pads
Not with Five Tens. Ever.
Don't slip
My first ever ride, I split my shin in 3 places. I don't really like jumps anymore
I don't slip

El Jefe my thoughts as well
That's a sick idea. You could always put a ferrocerium rod in your bag. You can get them for like £1 on eBay
yeah but you could potentially start a forest fire if you scraped a rock
Does that actually work, as it's a magnesium alloy not pure magnesium?
@@davidpacker7602 I was just talking shit ...I really don't know heh🤷♂️
Whatever pedals you choose don't forget the five ten shoes!
DMR V8 & Vans waffle sole. Budget perfection.
Adam Eronen Piper which ones did you get? A link would be helpful

I just went with Amazon

Race face chesters have no comparison. Cheap, light, and feet will not slip even in tap dance shoes

Shimano Saint. You can get them now for 50 bucks on merlins website.
traingp7 i had a set of saints, same issue one pedal had play in the axle right out of the box. sent them right back for a refund. gd pedals

DMR V8's are the best pedal I've ever ridden!
straitline pedals with 5/10s for life!
Great advice! Thank you'
i had to change the blinker fluid in my pedals and also the muffler bearing failed. gd pedals

I use Spank Spike flats and love em!
Sehr gut erklährt besser als alle deutschsprachigen videos
So any conclusion or recommendations? Five shoes with say Chesters maybe ?
I personally suggest spank spike or spank oozy pedals
So there is no size ?
I'm considering the nukeproof neutron evo ( electron evo) and the shimano saint mx80.. what is better? i want grip and a good durability

i just ordered a pair of dmr vault flat pedals.
i hope i like them
Good choice!
i got vaults on all my bikes including my road bike XD
Pair them with some 5.10 freeriders and its almost like you are running clips!
Humtuk I did pair them with a pair or f 5 10 McCaskill
How about pedals with DU bearings. Are good pedals?
What was the green one? Got interested
What about cleat pedals? I started using them recently, and pedaling is much more efficient.
Can you ride technical sections easily with them?

the audio seems to be clipping at points in this video, quite uncomfortable with earphones. Good info though
Which pedal lasts longer? ball bearing, sealed bearing or DU bearing?
Most pedals use a combination of a sealed cartridge bearing and a DU bush.
I'll stick with my Odyssey Triple Traps
How do all you feel about aluminum vs synthetic pedals?

Which axle is stronger?
because its bullet proof
Steel by far

Do studs hurt feet if we wear flat shoe ?
Why are do you guys dont use cage pedals?
In trials most riders use them, and we obviously need tons of grip!
Cage pedals for trials? Never ever I've seen a trials rider using cage pedals.
well then you havent looked close enough.

Where is Shimano Saint pedal ?
Lol often it is only a weight difference of like 50g, thats nothing in my opinion I am looking only on the grip and the Quality.
Sadly I bought smaller pedals thinking that would be better but nope XD
what is the purpose of flat pedals??
