- Songs by me! Karyn Cady
First one is called “So Much To Do”
Last one is called “Elevated”
These are my latest songs, to be released on my upcoming album called Off World in a couple months!
I just want to take a momen,t to tell you, that you did a great job on that dry pour. You followed all of the right steps. Jimbo and Lydia, at Cajun Country, would be proud of you. I do this myself so, I understand what you went through. And, I see other videos of folks trying to do this and they miss steps. You did not miss one and you got great results.. Congratulations on a perfect job.
wow thank you so much, it means a lot
You worked hard and it paid off Good job!
I was just vibing to the "To Do" track. I thought it was an awesome selection for this video and then realized that it's Youuuuuuu! Nice
Thank you so much it means a lot!
Thank you!!!!
So many tips and questions answered without saying a word.
Excellent job
Bravo Karyn Cady! I need to do this too but the preparation seems like the most difficult portion of the work, but I'll have to do that part as well...
(Very perfect music too BTW.)
wow, keep on surprising me - I look at description and you SANG the songs! Quite impressive!
Wow thank you so much
Fantastic job and hard work as well 😊
Karyn Cady is good, ye ye ye . . .
Not shabby at all. Nice work! 👏
You did your thing! 🙌🏾
Beautiful job
You are very talented- great video.
Great work!!
Lordy I bet your back was screaming the next day. Great job
You are amazing🤗 You did an excellent dry pour. I’ve done 3 but not as nice as that one. 😊
thanks so much
Very Nice!!! Lots of work but it paid off for sure.
Great job!! Love the trampoline break! Those sneaky kitties. Are you sure they didn’t bury a “treasure”?😂
What a woman! Well done!
Good morning & Happy New Year from Auckland, New Zealand ...that looks so easy & after watching this video, I decided to do a small dry pour slab out in the garden for my wooden 2seater to sit on !!!
that sounds great! good luck with that
@@karyncady Just finished my 1st dry pour and it's looking great !!!
i loved it. TY for sharing
Good job👍🏿
Great job!! I liked your music also.
Thank you very much
Excellent
Awesome🥰thank u for sharing & love the music… I watched your video at least 30x over a 30-day period- I hope my concrete pad is as successful as yours😊
thank you so much! wow! that is dedication! thanks for watching and I'm glad it seemed helpful
LMFAO this isn't a successful concrete pad! This is a major fail. See the crooked edge? See how discolored it is? It's going to fall apart. This is what happens when you half ass things. What a joke. 😂😂
Awesome 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Brilliant job, well done!
great job I love it
Great video, but I came back for the music. Why are these songs not on Spotify?
Thank you so very much
Very nice work. Good luck with your channel.
Nice job! ❤
Looks great awesome!
Nice!
Well done and beautiful, now have a drink you hard working woman you!!!
Hahah thank you lol I did, many!
Love it❤
Great job!... one question though. Why did you end up doing dry pour since you already had a great setup for wet pour?
I wanted to take my time with it. I actually finished laying out all the concrete and then watered it the next day! Plus I heard that the prep is the same regardless if it’s wet or dry anyway, no?
@@karyncadygod what a joke. You are something else.... lmfao. Couldn't even look halfway decent for a video. Yikes😅
Great job I think the discoloration came from too much water
What a lot of work, great job. But still easier than pre-mixing it I bet for one person. And so much cheaper than a truck coming out. But one question... do you know what may have caused some of the top, by the edges, to break off?
yes I think this way is easier for one person! oh they actually didn't really break off, I think it was more sloppiness on my part when I was forming it cuz I didn't screed it all the way to the edge. and when I noticed those spots were unfilled, I just tried filling it with mortar mix instead of concrete so I wouldn't have to screed as much cuz the mortar mix was a powder. but it obviously didn't work or got washed away when I was watering it all
@@karyncady OK, thanks. I've seen some other DIYers using mortar as a top portion to make the whole thing stronger, but still do more screeding. Oh and they also oil down the boards so they don't disturb the finished product. I want to build a 10x12 shed this fall and want to use the dry pour method. I wanna extend my patio first. thanks again.
Excellent! Thank you. It looks like you have an expansion joint. How did you make it?
hi! so at first I tried dragging my hand groover tool (link below) through the dry concrete but it would catch on the little rocks within and mess up so I just dragged it very very softly across to make a straight line and then went back over it, pressing it into the line like a stamp until I was done with the whole line.

@@karyncady Thanks so much!
I lost track, how many bags of concrete was that?
I believe it was just under 48 80-pound bags of concrete for a 14’x4’x3 1/2’ rectangular slab, plus the curved section
What material did you use for the curved section? Nice music!
Thank you so much! I used hardboard from Home Depot and had them cut it into 3 1/2 inch wide pieces

Thanks! Getting ready to do a project and we needed something flexible
Where did u get the flex forms? I wanna curve my dry pour also. Btw… awesome job!!!!
if your radius isnt a tight turn you can use pvc baseboard or lp siding ripped down. those will snap if you have a tight radius. if you need a crazy tight radius you can use tempered hardboard but it aint cheap.
Are you in colder temps is that why you did gravel and grid in the botttom
Exactly! Good observation. I am in Salt Lake City, very hot summers and very cold winters. That’s why I did the gravel. I did the wire mesh in the middle mostly to reinforce it because of the thickness
🤷♂️🤷♂️ would’ve been less backbreaking to paint it with the roller
I great vidyo. I'm sorry maybe you answered this but how long did it take you to do this and how many bags
48 bags of 80 pound concrete. it took about a total of 2 weeks, working slowly and in small increments each day
You are Amazing!!!! You did a great job, and thx for answering all the questions too. You are so talented❤
How long from start to finish?
Oh gawl, the first day was May 6. I took a few weeks to prep the space, taking my time. I think I did like 30-60 mins each day for a while. I “poured” the concrete May 21. Watered it the next day. Waited 72 hours just to be safe before concrete staining it but then it rained back to back for like a week so I finished May 31. Total of 25 days start to finish, going small steps at a time
What was the total cost?
About $500 total... includes 48 bags of concrete, 3 panels of wire mesh, 1 panel of hardboard (for curved section), and concrete stain. I got the gravel for free by picking it up from someone on Facebook marketplace near me
I had some discoloration as well but it eventually went away
oh no way! how long did it take to go away? if you can recall
It was probably about a month. I was told it was because it had not fully cured yet. There was still some moisture trapped in there.
@@MrBdogg317 makes sense, I was too impatient I guess hahah
Dry pours are horrendous. They’re not as strong and crack easily. Look at all the edge chipping. No clue why peeps do this.
