I never would have thought that concrete could be this interesting to watch. It's 3am here and I'm watching a video about decorative concrete.
Never to late for concrete!
Me too.
It's not the concrete, it's the craftsman! :-)
I have an interview for my first concrete finisher job at 10am and its 2am haha here I am getting educated on it.
I've been doing it for 27 years and it never stops getting interesting
Thanks for helping those young men. Only a special person would invest their time to do this. Hopefully they realize how lucky they are.
I talk to some of them on the phone, there itching to graduate and get in to the field, where the magic happens.
Odell Complete Concrete where the magic happens and the pockets get fatter than working at McDonald's.
We’re can I take a course?
I want to learn this trade

Crazy how I randomly came about this video and watched the whole thing to realize my high school teacher is there no way ! Miss you Mr.Puckett! #khs
Kudos we work with a prison (work release) and know the great satisfaction of seeing a person who had no skills be trained and then actually are able to demonstrate proficiency and skills! It is a blessing to them and to us! You are a teacher and a mentor, the best people on earth. God bless you and your business!!

I love your videos and how dedicated you are to your craft
Your a hard worker
TY!
Good for all these guys, students and teachers both. The next generation of tradesmen and they are starting off the right way. Handing off knowledge to receptive students is a very satisfying feeling.
I concur
TY
Thanks for helping these young individuals
YW

This was a special video on a couple of levels. Some of these students come from disadvantaged homes and lives but they are not satisfied with staying in those circumstances and are doing something about it to reshape their futures. Students aren’t looking for a handout but a chance to prove themselves worthy to be hired and some will begin their own businesses. Much respect for Hope Builders and David Odell for their compassion to give back to the community. I learned a lot from this video as well, thank you to everyone who participated.
Good point,
I concur.
Im getting anxious about when and if it will reopen
Odell Complete Concrete, I agree completely. I don’t believe this shut down is the new norm. Now that we know what this virus is and getting a better idea how to treat it and then with new vaccines coming shortly, I believe we will reopen shortly around January.
I also teach appreciates. It’s cool watching them grow! My advice to guys starting. Is to develop thick skin and just be hungry to learn. The rest just takes time. Thanks for the video!
oss
That’s really cool of
You man A lot of successful business owners get so used to making money and maximizing their profit and productivity everyday that they don’t have time for this, you do. We need more contractors like sir
Thanks
I concur
Excellent Demo.... they were all good but the one that was made into four squares was my favorite
I concur

I've gotta find something like this in my area. Been into electrical, and programming most of my life, this is fascinating. Great videos
By far your videos are in my top 5 tutorial videos, that I thoroughly enjoy watching. Even though my back wouldn't allow me to do anything in this trade lol. Thanks for making them and sharing you knowledge and trade experience. Cheers from Ontario, Canada. 😁
YW
Great videos here in pa we can't find young people who want to do concrete . I'm glad you're helping these kids.
TY
Excellent instructions for your students, on site and online! Thank you for the hope you create for all.
You're very welcome!
I started working pouring concrete and I'm getting some helpful ideas on how to make my job easier and get another dollar in the next months thanks
Good idea
concrete is fun and rewarding at all skill levels. Western civilization is built upon this stuff, so I think it's important everyone pour at least one project.
Sounds good
David Odell you are the man. I am learning from watching your videos. I am planning to do concreting for my patio and driveway. Thanks mate! Keep up the good work.

Hey David, this is John Puckett and all the guys of CTP 63 from Hope Builders. We just watched the last video, and it was lit! (that is a quote). Thank you again so very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and teach our trainees all the amazing things a career in concrete has to offer. The world could definitely use more people like you! All the guys said to give a shout out to Tim also. We'll see you at Camp NAWIC!
Thanks and good luck to all the guys.
Ill see you there
I said it before and I said it again, you should totally offer this as a training class online. Excellent content.
I’m rebuilding a foundation with skills I learned from your channel right now.
Great and good idea
Fantastic. I had a couple ideas that you even covered. Thx for all the effort in teaching guys all the various concrete finishes!
Your welcome
Bellísimo los modelos de baldosas en concreto. 👌😊
- Very nice! 👏
God bless you for utilizing your skill and trade to help shape and mold a new generation of workers. Give a man to fish Vs teach a man to fish
Yes, thank you
I'm a "tile man" , dabble a bit in concrete but, been doing great things with glass beads since 2019 , makes for an awesome backsplash, , done a couple of shower " inserts" trimmed out all Purdy too my customers love it 😝 creekstone is great too , good stuff bud ✌️
Sounds like fun
TY
David, that was a great video. You are a really good guy. Thanks for giving back.
TY
The glass beads came out very nice!
Yes I liked the look and possibilities
THANK YOU! Awesome. There is a shortage of info on concrete finish options online. I wish I had this before I did my concrete backyard project.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the presentation. I have to find a concrete finisher once the plumbers have removed my basement floor to replace old pipes. The plumbers admit that concrete is not their profession, and all they can provide is a rough finish if they install the concrete.
Sounds good
GL
I do precast concrete it's extremely satisfying. I'd recommend it to anyone pays good and you'll never be bored
Sounds good
Me 2..32yrs

You got to love concrete you can accomplish so much great job.
I concur
I've worked with powder release. It makes a huge mess , but turns out beautiful with the proper integral contrast. Beige integral with charcoal release works extremely well for wood plank stamps.
Yes
this is great. more of these. the step by step is super helpful.
great
Looked like a great opportunity for those students. . Nice work boys!!!
TY
Awesome!!!! What an amazing opportunity.
ty
I love your videos you are the MAN ! I used blue hawk today and it finished so nice compared to quickcrete ! Thank you for all your videos

I've been doing concrete with my dad since I was in diapers. Literally. I have pictures of me floating concrete in diapers. This school looks like it'd be so fun. I always love learning different methods.
Right on
Its like icing on a cake, i wana take a bite!! Excellent job. Hi from Ireland 🇮🇪
Taste good to.
Good educational video - I particularly liked "I do not go by measurements, I go by looks and feel", which probably is the common attitude for any non-structural concrete pour less than 4 inches thick!
What I also learned today from this video is that whenever all students are fully PPEd with safety glasses, gloves and masks, this makes the tutors immune to cement burns and injuries! I guess "lead by example" is an obsolete term amongst these professionals...
Very nice experimenting video. Thanks for sharing as always.
Sure
Hello, I first would like to Thank you for the Variety of Knowledge that You Share Publicly & On your Channel. I personally Learned second hand from this channel from knowing absolutely 0% , Pouring & finishing cement mixes at Home to Actually now Have Clients Request Me to Complete Work for them that Other Contracter’s Simply Did Not care to Complete.
My question is about 7:00 Min into video you used a Hand Pump sprayer?
What do you use it for ?
Specifically in a what type past Experiences have you used of Non-standard case job?
Besides Using To spray used car Oil on forms haha
Also have you heard of pouring Coca-Cola on a finish with different color Gravels?
Great work! Thanks for the video!
TY
Love it,, keep doing what you're doing ✌️
Thank you! Will do!
Odell is da man!!!

I see on some construction sites columns with great finishing it has what I call mirror effect and on other sites the finishing is good but it lacks that smooth touch and mirror effect .. why ?
Best…
Awesome! I like going to your videos for tips and learning. Keep it up!
Great
TY
Hello David
Could I ask you to elaborate on the addition of extra-cement to bags of pre-mixed concrete?
Is this a technique that could improve the finish for the DIY-er?
Yes makes concrete finishing of this bag mix much easier
Great job David

Thank you for your help I was able to do this myself for about 125 dollars it tool me like 4 months to do this cause I got bad seals and the wrong cc seal driver so it definitely took way too long I recommend next time to say what way the seals and washers go because that caused alot of confusion for me but thanks tho I got it done
Glad I could help
Amazing video thank you 🙏
I m not “native English” speaker…. so I don’t acoustically what exactly you spread at the end on top?

As always, awesome job!
TY

I really liked your videos my friend
TY
Absolutely Loved this! I am trying to figure out how to stamp for some small projects. What is the difference between color hardner and a colored release?
Hardener is worked in to concrete and release is stamped in to concrete
Fantastic video!
TY
Subbed !
Great video !
Thanks for sharing your life experience with us.

Hello Sir, if you ever do another training like Hope Builders or something else. Please let me know I'd love to help. 👍🏻
Keeping skilled trades Alive Awesome every state needs Vocational Schools 🏫 lot of youth choose the 🚫 Block instead of Building the Block.
I concur
TY
You are such a good nice concrete cat!
Ty
This was good information for us beginners. Thanks Dave. There are some haters who ae watching these videos that forget it's information only. Rat Bastards critic hate cause they can't do it. Keep up the good work Dave.
Yes your right
TY
Great class and video! I'd suggest cutting a slight taper in the forms, putting some form release on them to make them fully reusable and selling the students' samples as patio pavers. You could even invite people in the community that just want to make their own pavers at your facility too. :D
Good idea
TY
Thank you. Lots of good ideas.

I was doing this since I was 15 years young

Learned almost everything from you. I've been reading on finishing and a lot of what I'm seeing says to not trowel outside concert. To finish with the broom after floating. I was hoping to get your opinion on this. Is the texture different if troweled and broomed VS float and broomed? Is it a bit safer to use a float and broom method to prevent bleed water from getting locked in Incase the slab is still bleeding but external factors (wind, heat) are causing evaporation so quickly you can't tell it's still bleeding?
I don't know sounds complex.
Basically we're going for looks. Float and broom you might see in a barn
love this, keep them coming.
Sure
This was great. If I make stepping stones do the frames have to be that thick?
No you could do 2.5"
Hi David,
I have been following your channel for quite a while now,
As usual, your job is always well presented with great details.
I am doing a slap for a shed of 3.0 m x 4.5m x 100mm thick= 1.35 m3
What I woukd like to ask you is how to estimate the materials or how much do I need Sand, stone, cement. etc.
I am doing the mix of one cement, two sand and 3 stone
Cool, thanks
Thanks for teaching 🙌🙌🙌
YW
A beginner will always use a float mag or a finishing trowl backwards that when you know the difference from a true finisher and a rookie
Probably
thats really cool
TY
Love what you do bro I really do more power to you I love watching your videos keep it up👍👍up
TY
Any more of this type of crash course training happening soon, David?
The school is half staff since covid
Great job question on the powder used is it the same as grout powder or a totally different thing?
totally different
When you coming to Texas? I’ll be the first to sign up
I hear that
Thanks for the video. We are having a patio poured (47x11) and was surprised to hear the texturing/paint process to match our Lanai was almost as much as the pad. is that normal?
Depends on the design and texture
Love your Videos!!! Incredible!!!
TY
Nice!!!
Very interesting video. Thanks!
YW
Amazing!!!!

Good job guys.
