Alex Orji & Davis Warren: Who has the edge to be the starting QB for Michigan? | Joel Klatt Show
• Alex Orji & Davis Warr...
Who has the edge to be the starting QB for Michigan?
I'm anticipating Arch Manning to transfer to Michigan for another shot at that Texas secondary.
Orji.....we don't need any ultimate frisbee warriors. Orji could be Tommy Frazier part II.
@@DubLubb Does Orji have the accuracy needed to be a starter?
I have no clue. That's why I listen to Joel Klatt.
@@dimitri1515 13-18 is 72% if you're mathematically challenged.
As an OSU fan I believe Orji will have the most upside in their offense. He’s so versatile and their run game would be deadly.
Makes me wish the Wishbone was still used.
Imo Warren and Tuttle will continue the current system and battle for Qb1+backup in fall.
Meanwhile, Orji will practice lots of read option and will get 20-30% of snaps:
- red zone / inside the 10
- 3rd and short
- as change of pace
Jayden Davis redshirts.
Denegal: qb3, scout team unless he transfers.
100% agree with this
I think you are correct.
Davis will red shirt but will he get some snaps in 4 games?
Yeah, I was leaning more towards Tuttle before Warren put on a show last weekend. I like what I've seen of him the last couple years, despite his one appearance in 2023 being kinda ugly. Both guys are more athletic than people realize. Tuttle had 36 yards rushing last season I believe.
@freeheeler00 yes. I agree. Absolutely 💯 battle will be Tuttle vs. Davis Warren, which will be epic. And Orji will get 20-30% option packages. Similar to last year. This is going g to turn into a 1 2 3 headed monster at QB. Davis redshirts but will gain knowledge/ experience.
Play Orji and if it doesn't work put Warren in
I'd say Orji. The offense is gonna rely heavily of Orji's running ability. Kinda like Vince Young. Worked out well for Texas in 05 - 06, one might say!
If Michigan had better WR’s than I’d say Davis Warren should start, but because the pass catchers are mid, Alex should start since he’s built like a freakin Linebacker and can run RPO best
I’d say use their first game as a decider, let the man preforms best under the pressure start. But should definitely either be Alex orji, Davis Warren or jack Tuttle. I’m on the fence with all of them, but I believe Alex orji has the most potential out the bunch
Please remember JJ didn’t run much nor did he pass much. I think Davis (if he can pass like he did in the spring game) holds the edge
Will Johnson or mason graham were our best defenders. Mike was the leader tho
Arguable but I’d say Will Johnson Mikey was really good last year especially in zone
@michiganlover12- Definitely arguable. Mikey made the most big plays by far.
Yeah I'm most interested in the QB, like most folks. It's too bad Tuttle didn't play--because he can be great-- but I agree with your top two picks.
Warren
TJ Guy will be what Josaiah Stewart was last year coming in to spell the starter Braiden McGregor. I hope he can do it! Stewart was the player that blew up the last , winning play, against Bama in the Rose Bowl. Let's GO BLUE!
orji is qb1 is pretty obvious lol
Is it?
@@heffe40It is.
He’s the best running QB Michigan has for sure. I’d say warren has the arm.
I’m sure both will be used quite a bit.
@@dkny2980 Why?
@@Adam-vs2in Warren can fly too, he didn't show it, but he is fast.
I think it will be Orji. I think denegal will transfer out.
Orji until proven otherwise
I like Davis Warren, my question is what type of QB is here when he gets hit? Alex got hit in games and spring games before this one and did not change or affect him. I do not trust Tuttle, every time I seen him play he only have one good drive in him.
Unofficial QB stats for the 2024 Spring Game
Orji: 11 of 17 passing for 95 yards & one rush for 18 yards and one touchdown.
Warren: 6 of 9 passing for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
Orgi by far
I still think it will be Jack Tuttle. He is the perfect one year bridge to Jadyn Davis.
Orji is a thrower. Not a passer.
Warren is a passer. Not a thrower.
Michigan runs the ball about 60% of the time....
That favors Orji....
But my choice is Warren....
At least for now.....
I have more confidence in Davis Warren managing the game and taking care of the football. Third and long is gonna be a big problem for Orji.
The way Michigan runs the ball there won’t be many situations like that. But you’re definitely right about that. I still say give him a try! Let him start! This is college football for a reason. If you never give the kid a chance you’ll never know what he really brings to the table. I’m telling you right now we WILL NOT BEAT TEXAS STARTING WARREN. But they have NO TAPE on Orji! He’s our only chance.
The spring game is like touch dose not mean anything stop it people no one seen anything 😅
OSU played 2 hand touch, UofM tackled, and hit.
Orji is a more athletic version of JJ and was never given a fair shot. He will be the dark horse this year putting up better numbers than JJ. MMWs!!!
FACTS BRO! But they gotta give him a chance! Something tells me he’s a gamer..
Jack Tuttle
I want to see him as well.
No thank you
Interesting last name.
😆, he’s Nigerian 🇳🇬
as a racist ill say Warren
Michigan show now, huh? Joel you realize they're going to be terrible and go back to irrelevance, right? Wake up man.
People's obsession with Michigan's development is insane. Regardless of your opinion on their development, being a lower rated recruit (or former soccer player) is not ideal. Yes, Michigan has thrived with those players, but they'd still be better off with blue chip recruits. I don't know how good Klein is or isn't, but I guarantee that he'd be even better if he had played more football. The thought that he's "perfect for Michigan's development structure" because he's new to football is laughable.
You just said a whole lot of nothing
@@johnnyoldenjr. Lol. Maybe, or maybe you chose to interrupt it that way cause you don't like my point. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and simplify it for you:
People don't have a higher developmental ceiling in football just because they used to play soccer. The is no benefit to playing soccer in highschool instead of football if you want to play D1 football. I know you agree with this, since you aren't calling for more soccer players to replace your current roster.
Joel is simply saying michigan has great development so klein went to the right school to be developed. Its pretty simple.
I know that that is the point he's trying to make (Klatt's not stupid) but that's not what he said. And given Michigan fans insistence that recruiting doesn't matter when you develop, the way he worded it Klatt sounds like he's agreeing.
@@MaximusGruffydd klatt has been praising michigans development for years.
