  • This is a little 22 that has spent it's life in the barn. It mainly just needed a good cleaning and the broken wood put back together. It is still used in the barn so this repair is just to get it working again and clean it up a bit. This is NOT a restoration by any means. Just an example of how the wood an be repaired.

Nice repair, I need to do this with a rifle I inherited from my grandfather. Thanks again for this.

Nice job bringing an old gun back to life! I've had some luck using a clear cyanoacrylate and mixing it with the sanding dust from the wood. It still won't be a perfect match to the original but it's pretty close. The sanding dust doesn't seem to interfere with the accelerant.

Nice project. I like the cocoa idea. A better color match might be coffee ground super fine for espresso - - I have used that with super glue on both walnut and sassafras and gotten pretty much invisible results. If you don't have espresso around, maybe a coffee shop would sell you a couple tablespoons to try out.

I would need to look at what you are referring to. Off the top of my head, I should be able to make just about any thread on a lathe.
