STEVE EARLE IS BACK!!! We shot this episode before his fundraiser show at Songbirds Guitar & Pop Culture Museum on July 25, 2022 that helped us raise over $30,000 for our Guitars for Kids program!
In this episode of the Vault Sessions, Saint Steve plays Duane Allman’s 1961 Les Paul (SG), a 1957 Gibson Southern Jumbo, and a 1941 Martin D-45. He also discusses his connection to the Allman Brothers, his song Outlaw’s Honeymoon, and how Chris Stapleton ended up with his D-18.
Stick with us! We have some great players visiting us this year... so click the subscribe button for updates. Coming soon: Eric Gales, a new Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Mark Lettieri, Stuart Mathis, and dozens more. These sessions help keep the music alive by helping the Songbirds Foundation raise money to buy guitars for kids… check out our website to find out more-songbirdsfoundation.org or stop by the Songbirds Guitar & Pop Culture Museum and visit (Wed, Thurs, Sunday 12-6, Fri & Sat 10-6 EST).

Steve is right there at the top of my list of artists that I want to meet before I go-we're both 1955 babies and musical soulmates. I felt like he was jamming with me on If I Needed You-I knew Loop and Lill were Guy and Susanna's parakeets-Townes says it on a live recording somewhere here in the great world of UA-cam-I love this place

Steve's a very kind human. We went in the ''sign things and talk'' line after a concert. And my son tells him, as I'm standing next to Steve, that "My Dad has driven me all over the Country & he drove me to see you". Steve was sort of like wow. Really? Love his Music, and so does my son.

@@12symon As I have no doubt. Probably the same day that I first saw this thread, I was watching an interview where as he was sitting on a couch about to answer a question the session gets interrupted by a sponsee's phonecall to his AA Sponsor: Steve. He looks at the phone stands up and says "It's a sponsee, I have to take this" and he tells the guy "Look I'm in the middle of something here, I'll you back in a little while OK? Are you alright?" It takes a special type of person to be able to BE a sponsor

I wonder if the guitar he’s talking about that he sold to Chris Stapleton is the one from the tiny desk performance where Chris said somebody must have used it as a canoe paddle

That's an SG not a Les Paul-I stand corrected and did not know that Les Paul's at one time were using the SG body type.

You should learn the history of the Les Paul, or at least google "61 Les Paul.

Pretty sure that Gibson Southern Jumbo is earlier than 1957. In 1955 Gibson changed to 20 fret necks and a larger pickguards.
