Why did water come out instead of red bloody stuff :(
In the killing test
Thanks for spoiling, Why is this a recent comment
Ur racist since no black man has ever won
@@jeremiahjenkins4098 I’m not black but who aid I can’t stand up that guys knife cut throughout the show well he should have won.w
Clarence did everything using muscle, sweat, and a coal-fire forge. Major props for that.
It was a bit unfair. Time wise but he did it. Salute to this man
Seriously, crazy props to him for making it the old way.
And he made a great sword, that handle problem is what did it. Still, he did a great job
Major props! I can't believe that I'm watching my Facebook friend on this show that I never knew he was on. Too cool!
I got to give that man props using nothing but a hammer is not easy but he did a heck of a job
And a coal fire not even a gas forge 🤯
Yeah for real that dudes a wizard
Exactly, I agree with you man! I'm sorry to him.
Yeah, he was at a serious disadvantage and pulled it off really well. There really should be separate categories for different blacksmithing tools.
Yesss not apples to apples
Clarence put together a sword that did very well in all the tests and he built it out of shed in 5 days in the middle of a Florida summer with no AC, props to that man, Gabe made a slightly better sword with way better equipment, Clarence is the real winner of that challenge
@Hans Wohler I’m not Clarence
@Hans Wohler nice Iron Man reference.
I also think that Clarence's sword was more "Viking" looking. Gabe's hilt looked more like a medieval-styled short sword, whereas Clarence kept his hilt more accurate to how Norse blades were designed.
lol nah
It was the handle, if the judges don't feel comfortable wielding the weapon then that's a big problem
When Clarence said he had a coal forge I immediately wanted him to win.
When he was using the freaking hammer I wanted him to win
Yea he was working very hard
I really wish they would even out advantages in the home forging portion. I hate seeing someone using a coal forge going up against a guy with a full length gas forge and power hammer. Just isnt fair when you have time constraints.
@@Ssalyer41 Without the time constraints the guy with the hammer would have probably won. His major flaw in the sword was the handle, lacking time to do it properly.
@@Ssalyer41 Does anyone even use a coal forge anymore? Seems like it was out of choice rather than compulsion.
Sometimes the competitors read the comments of the videos on UA-cam, so Clarence, if you're reading this, you did some fine work. You only had a coal forge to work with and still turned out a blade in five days? That's amazing, you should be proud man.
Yes, Clarence really did well.
I really wanted him to win. He also seems more humble than Gabe. I’m glad he got the chance though to come back and make it to the final round
and with a hand hammer. No wonder he was worn out!!! Excellent work.
An American, wearing traditional Japanese clothes, forging a Viking sword, engraved with Roman Numerals. Right.
My thoughts exactly 😅 muppet
A Republican doesn't care and only wants to see the blade's performance. A democrat has a checklist of diversity.
I had a stroke seeing that.... he’s appropriating culture a little too much.
This comment killed me 🤣
@@doyoumakeittotheclouddistr4132 oh no!
are you gonna cry on twitter about it?
Respect to the people who do this by hand
Clarence doing the most here. If we took into account gear they have, he wins. He went full on middle ages.
I know right? And in 5 days!
Yeah legit Clarence won in my heart
I mean yeah clarence did an amazing job but I'm sure what it came down to was that handle wrapping which wasn't anything to do with equipment differences. I mean I'll definitely be willing to say it's a tie but the competition is based off of the product not how you get them the product. I think it would be fair though to give them the option of the forged in fire forge over home forge. There was an episode I believe the guy won but he made a makeshift coal forge out of a old satellite dish and a hair dryer so regardless of what you have you can still come out on top
@@Blackpheonix99 equipment difference gave him way less time on the finishing touches like the wrapping
@@Mike-ul1xn sounds like a pretty good argument for using modern tech
Was hoping Clarence would win. Dude could really have done with the upgrades.
What he made with the equipment he had is amazing. He should be proud of himself.
Would love to see what he could make in a better forge.
I agree considering that Gabe's "home forge" is his fathers professional shop that's been running since the late 80's. The difference between these guy's two home forges are so far apart I am so impressed that Clarence was able to make a sword that save for being off slightly on blade geometry, fit and finish made a sword that competed at the same level as Gabe's is beyond outstanding. If Clarence's home forge had a gas fired forge and a power hammer, I'm sure he could have had time to make the fit and finish up to Gabe's level and it would have been neck and neck.
@@steeltimberwolf Clarence's blade still would have been heavier (it was nearly 2 lbs heavier on the full show), based on the materials, he didn't consider that.
Forged in Fire losers: "Wonderful competition. It was an honor. Congrats to the winner."
Masterchef losers: "The competition is rigged. Obviously I'm the best cook of all time."
Which master chef are you watching? They always say the same thing as forged in fire when they lose on US and Canada
works for american elections too
I forget that UK masterchef clearly isn’t the universal experience...
@@Hydraklin and if you're a democrat the judges will even investigate your claims
I get the whole "poor craftsmen blame their tools" but massive props to Clarence for using a coal forge and a hammer, no wonder he was exhausted.
With whatever skills hes learned, Clarence made a sword with middle age technology, he did very well.
especially against a guy using his fathers professional forge
the black dude is wroking on a home forge with litterlly notihng but a hammer.. ! just pure pain
If I were a blacksmith, I wouldn't use a coal forge.
Gotta give him props though cause that is pain strikingly hard to do. The only thing that messed him over was the handle but this is a good learning curve for him, bet the next time he competes he might just win.
@@Thunor93 yeah.
@@podsmpsg1 i prefer a crucible forge personally.
As a guy from ireland i use peat instead of coal ... Plus it burns longer at a higher temp.
Clarence won in my book. Definitely gaining skills that nobody else has using that primitive approach
So we have Gabe who has a professional forge in a working shop who trained under his father vs Clarence using medieval methods and extremely less training than Gabe and Clarence made a sword that did 95% of what Gabe's sword did less some fit and finish. Man if Clarence had the set up that Gabe had from his fathers shop I wonder what marvels this young blade smith will be able to produce. Clarence if you're reading this keep hammering you have a great gift.
Clarence is an old school original Iron smith.
*I was really rooting for Clarence, he was using a "home made" COLD forge, he was a definitely underdog and could have used the money. Gabe did great by using two "cables" for his billet, I'm sure his weapon is incredibly strong. Still would have been nice to cut Clarence a check tho, I'm sure he could use a new forge.*
Coal, not cold.
@@mfree80286
*Are you sure. I thought "cold" was referring to the fact that the forge is "open air" and doesn't have a "canopy" like the others.*
@@maxsteel8031 No, I'm pretty sure. Most coal forges are open, and cold forging is a whole different process that's not really happening in a workshop. Literally squeezing metal between dies while cold, needs house-sized industrial presses.
It’s a competition, not a charity
@@Medalsforfucktards
*I'll remember that when you lose and they kick you when you're down.*
I appreciate Clarence's dignity.
Thank you.
WHERE IS THE RED BLOOD AT??!! AT LEAST MAKE IT BLUE OR BLACK
It's now PG-13
Why they gotta ruin everything. Make it blue at least.
@@Jonny0529 You may be joking, but it's not "now" anything. This is an old episode. It's right in the title-- "Season 3". They're on season 8 now.
Purple would be nice, or pink.
When are they going to stop messing with this show?
For anyone wondering about Gabe, he's actually been trained as a Japanese smith - hence his somewhat on-point attire. In 2006 he studied abroad for semester abroad at Tokyo International University in Saitama, Japan. After 2007, he managed the incorporation of Dragonfly Forge LLC, with his parents, and helped with the foundation of Dragonfly Forge’s formal swordsmithing school, Tomboyama Nihonto Tanren Dojo (Dragonfly Mountain Japanese Sword Forging School).
So as cringy as he may seem, he really does have the proper experience and training to at least justify it. Also I think his Viking sword was a lot better than Clarence's; you just have to look at the general fit and finish of both weapons to see that Gabe's was of a higher quality all around. Though I'd certainly hope that Clarence continues his work and gets some better equipment in the future, I think he's got a lot of drive.
Clarance did a great job considering he was working with much less in terms of his tools. Great showing by both.
The last stage of this competition is a definite pay to win
Yeah especially since Gabe didn't build his home forge, its his fathers.
Been to Gabe and his dad's forge several times both of them are great people and great craftsmen.
Fun fact : Doug actually says “KEAL” cause he knew that kids would be watching this show so he formed an abbreviation that is : KEAL -> Keep everyone alive , and he said this to signify that the main purpose of these weapons are for self defence
As a 50/50 dane and swede it hurts deep inside watching gabe engrave Roman numerals into a Viking sword
While wearing Japanese clothes.
My man is a personification of the For Honor game lol
@@musclegeek1991 lmfao!
Given that clarence did that with a charcoal forge and hammer. That is amazing.
Someone watched "Kill Bill" and thinks they are Hattori Hanzo
I can only imagine what Clarence could have achieved with a modern Forge.🤯
Rumor has it.... Gabe hasn't changed clothes to this day...
Till now
Clarence was a total underdog. Look at his shop vs Gabe. Great try.
Idk I always find it unfair when the competitors have two different level forges. One guy has power tools and the other guy is doing things the old school way. I’m very impressed Clarence was able to create a sword that good in such a short amount of time with literally just his hands
Wow this is my favourite one so far. Both men did an incredible job.
I am super impressed by Clarence’s result given his equipment but at the end of the day, he knew what he had when he entered the competition.
Gabe’s sword was slightly better and the competition is judged on the result, not the path taken to achieve that result.
I hope to see Clarence again, he is an excellent bladesmith. Both men are excellent bladesmiths. Good job fellas!
This is the only person I've seen so far use a respirator with their coal forge. Finally someone thinking halfway smart about it
but then he waited til day 5 to quench soooo
Clarence cold forging like a true Viking
Samurai Jake Peralta really going in for his undercover rolls, great weaponsmithing right here mr "Gabe".
Ol Gabe's got an identity crisis happening.
Solid work and effort from Clarence, with not a lot going for him at his home forge. That said, still a hearty congrats to Weeaboo Man. :D
Just realised this is the first black blacksmith I’ve ever seen
There have been quite a few on this show
While I, being the bloodthirsty American that I am, love the keel testing (still don't know what that has to do with the bottom spine of a ship, but whatever) but the thing that impresses me the most is the way that even when gobsmacked, the losers see it as a learning experience, and will go on to make more things. Order out of chaos. I have seen a stormy brow or three, but all were very good sports, and I really like that.
Props to black dude with few to no equipments
Sad to see him loose even though it’s a fair win for Gabe. I mean Clarence could use the money to buy himself the equipment he needs :)
@@SeptimusAugustusI I guess it's fair when Gabe is using his fathers professional forge that he has had since the late 80's and didn't build vs the guy starting out with a cold forge, hammer and anvil.
@@steeltimberwolf All about the grind
Wow what about my ancestors mates who were blacksmiths? Just cos hes black huh?
Team Clarence all the way. Making a sword by hand on a coal forge in a shed in Florida heat, that man is a smith.
Gabe the type of dude to watch Dragonball once and think he's a martial arts master
What makes you say that?
@@jacrispy3275 Jealousy imo
@@nath_rages why he would be jealous?
Not, Gabe was born into a swordsmithing family! His father learned from a Japanese swordsmith years ago. Awesome guy! He is just really smiley and pleasant so I think people don't suspect he is the real deal!
No red blood....someone must have got offended and made a complaint.
Natasha Seider wouldn't you know, There's always something 😫
Clarence did a really good job on the blade . I thought in my opinion his cut way better. Besides the handle .
Clarence had no chance against samurai Jack
Samurai Jack Peralta
Yas
Because they are racist no matter what the black guy did he wouldn't win

@@idonthaveanyideas5753 name 1 time a black man won the 10k
Cold Forgeing is allways a winner in my book. Sir you are a champion.
So as a VERY amateur smith I have made three viking-style swords, and like Clarence (apparently) did, I started with about 15 inches of leaf spring that I drew out with four pound hammer to 26 inches. On the last one I timed myself and it was about 10 hours of hammering just to forge it to shape and hammer in a rough bevel. Not all at once of course, after about three or four hours my fingers start to give out so it was spaced over several weekends. All of which is to say that I am stunned by the amount of work he did in that short amount of time. The energy he expended had to be on par with a an triathlete or ironman competitor.
It was a lot of work. And they of course couldn't show that the power hammer I had access to wound up being denied just before the show, I'd bursted blisters and so my hands were a bit torn through the whole forging, I had to drive to like Alabama, or Mississippi for coal and back to Florida one of the days before shooting and I was beat down exhausted. I real John Henry situation! It was painful, but wonderful.
@@clarencejackson4666 And well done sir!
I would have liked to see Clarence win so he could buy some decent equipment.
Probs to that guy for using a very medieval setup.
I admire a man who has to use hand tools. He just has to hang in there.
The background music is the show the weapons are just icing on the cake
The Sword was the most important Viking weapon, but the least common. Not all Vikings had or could afford a sword.
Yup they didn't really start having mass swords until they raided Britain and took the swords from corpses however the Dane axe was most important bearded axes for the more noble
Wasn't the most important either. That was the spear
alright arth bud you're closer and really a sword do you realize how rare it is for a norseman get a sword of his own that he made or he got rather less it being oH iTs ThE mOsT iMpORtAnT wEaPoN
@@lonevikingwarrior8227 I do, which is why I said the spear
Why would you want a sword anyways? Long spear or long axe is safer.
When Clarence said that he had a cool forge I was so worried cuz I thought he would have overheated the blade and cooked it and it would have shattered
I legit burned the first blade! After like a day of work. I don't even remember how, cause I've worked in coal forges forever. But yup, It definitely happened!
Clarence is so sweet and gave everything and this cringe gabe won man look at him wtf
hes the steven segal of being a blacksmith... like, dafuk is that guy supposed to be???
A bit judgy don't you think? Gabe won fair and square, don't be such a child and call people cringe when the result didn't turn out as how you wanted.
@Stirgid Lanathiel It was fair. I was the real winner in being able to meet those guys! Gabe was born into a sword smithing family. He's been watching swords made since childhood. That was maybe my second sword in life. But a competition is a competition. By being able to be there, compete with people who are masters compared to me? It was a high point of my life. I'm glad bro got his win. I'll get mine eventually!
I love how everyone on this show is so respectful to each other. True sportsmen.
This is the first time I didn’t hear him say “keel”
Everybody gangsta until j.neilson says "it's not about what your blade does to the target,it's about what the target does to your blade"
Another Close Competition... Wow! Thanks for Sharing
I always hear "ballistic stummy" 😂
Haha me too now I can’t un-hear it 🤣
Clarence had a hammer and a coal forge to do this, while the other guy had a whole shop. Clarence is the true winner of this one
"Goodluck bladesmith, see you in 5 days". Why is this so addicting
That might be my favorite person in all of forged in fire
Clarence needed the money to upgrade his forge!
gotta love that he made it just with historical, early medieval methods, a hammer!
gotta love the style of the other guy too :D
that kinda japanese forge :D
thanks for sharing!
Wooooow Clarence!! What a champion. Once I saw the coal forge get whipped out I knew he was the real deal!!
8:24 don't know if I am losing it, but is that a minecraft hitmarker sound?
Every bladesmith didn't made the sword before 😁
Every time I hear them say they're going to do a Billet weld ,I know they're going to end up using a leaf spring LOL
This was very close and both men made solid swords.
Does that dude ever take off his Gi?
Edit: Nope.
Wow it's almost like the guy with the better tools to let him work faster will have an unfair advantage.
Not the first time
Its not unfair. No one knows what to expect for the finals when you're at your own forge. If you don't have the equipment necessary for the challenge, you gotta improvise and give it your best shot. Which is exactly what Clarence did and Gabe both did. It was fair
Rules of the competition, he doesn’t have to enter.
I love the word he says *T H I C C*
I thought that the guys sword was just really bad in the kill test but apparently they just got rid of the blood, somehow I was more disappointed at that though
Kinda lame they don’t have to use similar tools in their home forge
Good work to both of the smiths!
The strength tests are MUCH easier with Jay not around 😂
Judges Should take into account the Home forge, the Processes, and overall Craftsmanship.
The way that I see it, if Clarence had spent some more time on the handle, he would have won. His sword did more damage overall than Gabes' sword.
If Clarence didn’t have that problem with his handle he would have won easily
I didn't know there was a Klingon judge 🤣
Clarence gave me unusual Iron Man immedietely after he said he had a coal forge
Gotta admit that when Gabe carved ROMAN numbers on a Viking sword, I died inside.... it’s a Viking sword not a Roman sword
Well these are based of Roman spathas
This guy's a gangsta? His real name is Clarence.
But props to him for making such a good blade with nothing but a coal forge and a hammer
I wanna see clarence win, I love his attitude!!
Really a good job by both . This pattern of sword isn't easy.
Hey History, forged in fire especially, could you make a executioner sword as one of the homeforge tasks in the next season? I would love to see one.
What's mega mind doing on the judge panels
100% that dudes a weeb
Clarence is definitely going to Valhalla.
"that handle's _still_ a bit of an issue" Yeah, that tends to be the case on the exact same blade, he didn't leave between tests to make another handle!
Builds Viking sword, puts in roman numerals...lol
Afro samurai Vs Jack samurai......
Clarence u are a machine bud! Great job!
CLARENCE IS A FORGED IN FIRE CHAMPION HE DID IT BY HAND
Most importantly..... IT WILL KEEEELL!!!!
Clarence should have won, did all that with hand and hammer. Talk about authenticity, that’s talent right there
I hate when the finalists don’t have comparable home equipment.
