Ive always so admired mark King and those wonderful complicated riffs and is able to sing lead,,,its just amazing. Ive always been a fan of this band and that will go on til Ive passed!
The way I understand it is that the beat Phil starts playing is simply to keep everything on track while adjustments took place as Mark hated silent moments. They did have a few equipment problems at this gig.
I was about ten layers deep until I reached this jewel and all the Rockpalast show vids...it seems there is a priority to the way things appear when you go searching? Love this Vid
GTAMEDIAPRODUCTIONS;You are certainly on the right track. The current lineup is out standing as well. Saw them at Massey hall in the 80,s,along with every other bassist in the GTA.Some guys quit that night after watching Mark.I found it inspiring. They are even better!
Ha ha I love that beginning......crowd clap clap clap Mark King clapping overhead to whatever it might be but certainly not Kansas City Milkman!! Not sure Phil was thinking (Mr Pink maybe?). Also not sure Phil can hear his vocal in his monitors!! Hey fluffs a-plenty!! Is this the gig I've got on that double Rockpalast DVD? I can't remember. Will have to dig it out and watch....:)
Maybe but on songmeanings someone wrote: "This song is about the question whether what the media and government is the whole truth, and whether we want to know the truth about whats happening in the rest of the world. The 'Kansas city milkman' is the average (not too bright) person who reads and believes what he reads in the newspapers without filtering out the questionable bits." So? ^^
I hate Mark King - not only can he play super-solid bass and sing at the same time, the man can chew gum on top of it! This was such a fantastic period for Level 42: the band was great but still a little rough around the edges. Thanks a million for posting this!
i've always wanted to know who/what isa Kansas City Milkman?? (please don't say a man who delivers milk in Kansas!) i don't think anyone has ever explained the meaning of this song...does anyone know????
Kerr Avon a friend payed with lindup. The reason is Mark was shipping bottles of milk in front of houses’d doors ( old English custom ) at the begging , a little job in England. So he was probably inspired by a Novel named Kansas City’s milkman
In an interview with Phil 2 years ago, he said that 'Kansas City Milkman' was inspired by what his father did. His father was a journalist and wanted to report the truth that would be understood by a 'city milkman.'
Krys Mach always has a great sound, great music to solo over but he never seems to know what to play when he gets halfway through a solo, all over the shop. Much prefer Gary Barnacle. Wish Gary had toured with them in this period. Sorry Krys, if you're reading but hey.
They couldn't find the stage...a recurring problem. Mark and the late Alan Murphy got lost in holland in 1988 (fait accompli). One of these statements is false!
Lierre sorry yeah krys mack! I first saw him perform with the band in 1980 at the top rank suite in Reading uk only about250-300 people in the audience! Good times great memory’s!
These guys were killing it 34 years ago and continue to blow minds to this day with their superior musicianship and songwriting! 👍🤩
Boon. He is The Level Guitarist. Great sound/ tone. A junior Larry Charlton. RIP Mr. Gould.
i love how after MK says 'Kansas City Milkman' Phil's like ' Oh shit - thats right!' STOP hahah funni
Still my fave Level 42 song. Other faves : "Weave Your Spell", "Lying Still".

Spine tinglingly good. Always loved Level 42 but sadly never seen them live. Sound amazing.
You must do! They've just released dates for their 2020 UK tour- so no excuses!
Thank you 'kolbola' for posting this incredible performance…Much appreciated.
Level 42 --- one of the BEST bands ever !!!
One of the best? The very best!
Mark King still chewing the same old gum after all these years.... But Level 42 are great!!

O my I love the 42 ❤️
IMMACULATE POP DRUMMING!
well if THATs what you call rough around the edges i ll take that anyday over most of the crap played today!!!
Maybe but on songmeanings someone wrote: "This song is about the question whether what the media and government is the whole truth, and whether we want to know the truth about whats happening in the rest of the world.

I doubt if the majority of the audience even noticed!
Actually, I wish the original line-up reunited, but played their early funk/fusion instrumentals.
Great tune
4:27 for Chef Ramsay's stunt double

I would rather have rough around the edges than the polished nonsense we have today.
The saxophone is played by Krys Mach.
Ramsay's cookin' on sax
StixH this is still my favorite comment to date... Thank you!
😁
ooh the sound of that JayDee. I thought mine sound good.
the start. Phil started the Pursuit Of Accidents, but the correct was the KCM. Mark said: F*ck you! :)
I know! The first thing I thought of was, "I didn't know Gordon Ramsay could play sax!"
😁
Shit this is just so great! It's nice to see them play these old songs! By the way, what's so funny about this song?
Thanks for the tip .. i ll order one when i can afford it .. Cori :)

When was the mistake

One of these statements is false!
One people has lactose intolerance...
I don't think the saxophonist is Gordon Ramsay. Somebody knows?
The saxophonist is Kris Mach.
merci ^^
Lierre I think it’s a fella called Chris Mack,
Lierre sorry yeah krys mack! I first saw him perform with the band in 1980 at the top rank suite in Reading uk only about250-300 people in the audience! Good times great memory’s!
