He just steps in, kicks ass, and you can tell he has fun doing it. I saw him 8 or so times including a few times in the mid and late 80's, and what I also liked about Tom is you never saw him raising his arms in some bs god way or acting like he was up there on the stage and you were there to watch. In other words he loved and appreciated his audience. More than any other legend that left us early I miss Tom Petty the most! Great man and a great American!
The the video is a little rough, the sound is okay and you get a great View of Stan Lynch playing his ass off as usual singing some great harmony with Tom and if you look closely you can also see Howie singing Amazing Harmony as usual with a big smile on his face when he's not singing. Thanks for posting this I haven't seen too many early performances in the studio.
There's something wrong, I can't get my finger on it I must be looking over something Sometimes at night I've had to fight with this emptiness It's been so hard to see, there's something more than this I'm finding out, baby I'm finding out Yeah it look a little time to get what love was about But honey I'm coming around I'm finding out I've had enough of all this hard-core loneliness I don't think pain is so romantic I'm just a working man I feel each day go by I couldn't understand, I was too weak to fight (Chorus) I have to thank you baby-honey I must confess You have pulled me from this river of loneliness (Chorus)
Wish Stan never left.

I saw petty in 81. Hard promises. It was like seeing the stones. I knew he would be great
Pure RNR! Love this raw version. Studio/lp version is great but its always nice to see how great they were just being them. man, this just burns!
