I been to Turkey several times, and I will say that the Olive Oil (and also Olives) in Turkey are some of the best I ever had... In USA, I buy the most expensive Olive Oil I can find from Wholefoods, etc... and they are still not good as the Olives Oil I had at Turkey. Turkish food in general is very VERY good...
Good tip. We checked the label of a bottle of Giant Food Store's brand of olive oil and saw that the oil was made by combining oils from several countries. We won't buy that oil again.
I buy my olive oil only for cooking, so I won't spend a lot of money on a bottle. I like to use Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil for that job, and it has a peppery sensation on the throat. Some people are calling it "fake" olive oil, but I don't think it is fake. I just think it's not the best, and it doesn't need to be the best for cooking.
You're right I've been researching extra virgin olive oil all over the place and your choice is pretty good for his price I would also recommend clarified butter. It's real opposed to all those other garbage oils that are actually poison.
The better choice for every day cooking are any oils not from Greece, especially Crete. Greek olive oil is my preferred oil for everything. If I'm running low on Greek oil and have to make a salad, I will cook with all the other country's olive oil and save the Greek oo as my recipe star. When it comes to cooking with olive oil, it's all a matter of taste and Greek oo tastes the best.
He should have briefed these “food editors” about olive oil before filming. He probably assumed they had some clue about what healthy foods are, where they come from, etc.
One question: What's the BEST Extra Virgin Olive Oil ? Just for drinking; NOT for cooking. Don't be concern about the cost. Pls. advise. Thank you. 6-15-20.
Butter is excellent food. Nothing wrong with lard either. It turns out that fat is essential for us and the teaching that fat is bad is a false modern myth.
It's gotta still be better than frying with vegetable, canola, or corn oil. I fry with Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil all the time and it's considered by some to be "fake". It tastes real to me, and it won't break the bank.
You can but I personally wouldn’t. Evoo is best for dipping and finishing food with to retain the pure flavor and antioxidants that would get destroyed by high heat temps. Best to use peanut, canola, or animal lard for deep frying due to higher smoke points.
Hi, we are Korean reality TV program “Europe Outside Your Tent : Spain”. We are now making the episode of Olive oil and it will be really great if you could allow us to use this video in our show! We will be looking forward to ur response! Thanks!
Stop saying butters not good. It's next in line to extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil. Especially clarified butter. It's real opposed to margarine and what they do to all the other oils that are poison. You should be encouraging people to stay away from everything but cold-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil., Organic avocado oil and salt-free natural clarified butter. Just using these in the kitchen makes a world of difference on your health and your taste buds.
I realized he was clueless about olive oil when he mentioned the Mediterranean diet and didn’t mention the single most important country which is Greece. The most important factor in the quality of olive oil is it’s acidity level. The absolute best olive oil comes from the southern part of Greece. Do some research Jack before you refer to the Mediterranean as anything hit Greek. Research folks. Not paid television
@@andriusturbalithuania6053 That's right, I'm from the island of Crete, where some of the best olive oil is produced. Lol you “want” peppery olive oil. That spicy burn indicates the freshness of antioxidants in the olives. Pompeian is diluted with other cheaper oils making it bland.
Jack is so good. His manner, speaking style and humble intelligence are perfect.

The grocery store threw me out for testing all the oils that way.
They absolutely lose it when I do it in the condiments aisle. Mayonnaise everywhere. Gargling Frank’s

And, I am glad that one of the best comes from right here in the good ole USA... California...and is quite affordable as well.

What is the price on good olive oil
Nice job Jack ! great explanations. I'm an ATK fan too !

The best judge of how Olive Oyl tastes is Popeye.
I am not so sure that "smelling like the Mediterranean " is a good thing.
I know. There have been a lot of beheadings around that area.

Is there a leaf olive oil?
I thought the best method to taste Olive Oil is to use bread

notice they didn't mention the toxic industrial seed oils, only saturated fats which are actually very healthy.
Mention of frying, it’s frying with olive oil better ? Does the olive oil becomes a bad oil after frying?

@@judgeadvocate9275 do you use the oil for frying just once? Or could be use to fry again later, I mean if there is oil leftover?
Don't try to deep fry with any olive oil. Peanut oil is best for deep frying. Sauteing however can be done with olive oil.

Not a fan of peppery olive oil. It burns my throat. I prefer Pompeian, smooth and tasty. If I want pepper on my food, I'll add it myself.
The blandest olive oil on the market. To each his own!
