Hi Guys, the inspiration for this video came from the Re-edited version that www.youtube.com/@TheForce_Productions made on his channel, go check him out since you can truly tell that he loves what he does Timestamps: Intro: 0:00 Guitar: 0:18 Band Comes in: 2:26 Verse: 3:03 Solo: 3:45 Verse: 4:13 Bridge: 4:39 Interlude: 4:58 Verse: 6:00 Solo: 6:44 UNCUT Version Starts: 8:46 UNCUT Version Ends: 9:25 Outro: 10:12
It is genius how often he returns to the same positions with a new phrase, and how it evolves! "...Thought of something more to say..." - Time, Pink Floyd
Well, don't have to search anymore, I also saw they weren't any live versions of this songs tabbed out, so I decided to give it a try. They usually tab Comfortably Numb or some things from the Dark side, and since this is one of the best song of the show I decided to do it
Your channel is huge. Gilmours catalog is HUGE. Makes sense. I built 2 black strats over the last 3 years with lots of help from California and Arizona. One with a maple and one with a rosewood. Now I have your channel to help expand on what I already know. Thanks for being you.😊
The dives in the intro/outro are a full octave down, using Whammy pedal (he discussed this in an interview with Guitar World magazine). He'd used a Floyd Rose-equipped guitar in the studio, and had to "fake" it live.
@@347Jimmy I didn't know that, I guess I'll have to read more magazines. I based the tab on this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/Nwcf-z2hEOc/v-deo.htmlsi=TZj9BSgShp0nlNKS At least it sounds good enough to play along
@@xricky14tabs it's easier to see in the Poland footage (as opposed to the Pulse/Earl's Court footage), Dave doesn't dive his bar anywhere near as much as he should (for the heard pitch), and clearly has his foot on a pedal. The tabs you've got are better than how I was playing most of it anyways lol side note: I think the live versions on Strats have much nicer tone than whatever he used in the studio original.
He used his custom carbon fiber Steinberger through a tiny Galien Kruger amp is what was used in the studio. I think this live rig sounds just as good.
Saw him last sunday in Rome. He has lost a lot compared to this but still sounds epic. I think this exact solo is one of the most underrated in history.
This whole performance is one of the best live performances I've ever seen. I'd do a lot of things to be able to travel back in time and witness this live.
hey man! love your content, would you mind taking a look at "who says" by john mayer? any version would be good, although the one he does with robbie and david when johns got the long hair is a good one. just an idea man, thanks!
Overall a great job, but there is an easier way to play the octaves in the intro/outro. In bar 11, instead of playing that high E on the fifth fret of the B string, play the ninth fret of the G string. Playing and moving around the fretboard is much easier, and you can keep that pattern for the entire section. Just my $0.02
It may be easier, but that's not how David played it. I try to go for accuracy since the freatboard has the same notes all through it's lenght, if David played it on the fifht fret of the B string, I'm going to tab it in that exact position
@ I’m not so sure that’s how he’s playing it. I’ve seen a lot of videos, and have even seen him play this live. It really looks like he’s playing it the way I describe…
@jamescbender43081 ua-cam.com/video/lkZbMY_aT_E/v-deo.htmlsi=AfJlZL6C6NH30GRx go to the sorrow timestamp and see which strings he's playing on the closeup
Actually now that I'm giving it a better look it looks like he's making a mix of my way and a mix of your way, he starts playing the A and B string then in the second section of the intro he plays the A and G string. Technically we were both right at some point

Gilmour is in a class of his own! Love his sound and skills. Greatness!

All I got to say is THANK YOU. Been try to find a tab to this song for years.

This is an awesome video, the uncut version is so much better. Thank you this is very much appreciated.
This is one of the best gifts that I could receive! Thank you ❤

Christmas came early for some of us!! 😂
This is brilliant!! The song, the sound, and the notation there to follow along.
Like always Dave putting his Soul out there just AWESOME 🎵🎶🎸🙏

Some heros don't wear capes 🙇♂️ This concert is the reason I play Stratocaster with EMG-DG20, he has absolutely killer sound, especiall in Sorrow 🤘
Me too, am pro ii emg dg20 for this….

Same as Robert Plant, but they're in their 70s now, cant keep it forever unfortunately.
What cool tab! Nice post.

Tbqh I always thought that the intro was him playing one note with an octave pedal.
There’s just no one that can do what Gilmour does.
How about Keep Talking next? :)
