English Lessons with Alex (engVid AlexESLvid) Sir,I'm fond of your English .I wanna learn from you .
Hey Alex how are you, I am Muhammad Sumaar , I wanna learn more about double passive or double verbs passive , please suggest me any of your videos or any link where I can get info from. reply is much awaited , Thanks
It's said that engvid is one of the best way to learn English
Excellent video as all your videos. For Spanish speaking people we can use THE PASSIVE OF "SE". Example it is alleged that Se afirma que, it is believed that se cree que, it is said that Se dice que etc. The most important thing here is to use the verb to be in Simple present, Simple past etc and the past participle of the verbs that Alex wrote in the video for example Assumed, believed, predicted, said, thought, postulated etc. By the way Alex, thank you for the wonderful job you've been doing.
Your teaching was crystal clear.
I actually teach english as well
But i enjoy listening or watching videos about English all the time..thanks man
Hey Alex, I have a question. In one of Emma's videos, she says to avoid using passive voice in academic writing with the exception of physical science papers. What are your thoughts on this?

sir, could you please make videos on converting passive to active voice and vice versa specifically in complex and compound sentences. This is also a request from all my friends and colleagues.
Thanks!
I am not sure about all these examples. Could anybody explain them to me? Why in the first sentence there is a past simple tense used after that and not a present simple tense? We still live in a heliocentric universe so shouldn't it be a present simple?
Good teacher.
thank you Alex
Nice video, as always :)

Can you help me with it. In my book has this topic (opinion/Belief passive + that clause); The yeti is said by some to inhabit the Himalayas. My answer is: It is said by some that the yeti inhabit the Himalayas. Thanks Alex
thank very much
You'd want to use "whom" in this case, since it is being used as an object (rather than a subject). "whom" is the object of the preposition "of"
yery help full

You're quite welcome.
You're quite welcome, yong.
Do you mind explaining why do I say: ' His job required that he relocate often' and not ' His job required that he relocates often' . Thank you..
You should say "he relocates" ! the other one is a grammar mistake...
it is what we called subjunctive mood. check it out please!
Yes... Subjunctive mood
Hello, someone could share me the formation of the full sentence with that?
Thank uuuu
I find it impressive THAT you say we live in a heliocentric universe, ;-). Anyhow, thanks!
I've done all my homework ✓✓✓✓✓✓✓
what a good lad
Can I write the sentences on using present simple? For example the first: it was claimed by Copernicus that we live (not lived) in .....why do I have to use the past " lived "? The planets revolve around the Sun even now. The past is a rule?
Thank's fir the lesson Alex, but we don't live in a heliocentric universe...
It is characterized by
hello, Alex, i'm french and i want to learn english quickly because at school i have bad marks. Can you help me ?
Quick question if someone can help! How necessary is it to use the word "that" in sentences like these? Is it grammatically incorrect to say, for example, "I thought you were dead!" "I believe I told you already." "I assume you know what I'm talking about." You'll notice none of these have the word "that" in them. Are these wrong? If they're right, then where do we draw the line?
no more quizzes?
the verb plus it is will be what past simple or past perfecr simple please answer
It's present simple passive.
It is believed...(by many people)
It is thought that...
I hope this helps. Keep in mind you can use other tenses like past simple ("It was said...") and present perfect ("It has often been stated...").
💖💖💖💕💓
Thanks Alex,my mind have been got confusing cause the subject
How can we transform it into active
🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Could you make a lesson for different ways to avoid using the word ‘Very’?
Adverbs of degree?...Hmm, a good idea for a future lesson. :) I have the notes written for it already, but I haven't recorded it yet. In the meantime, you can try googling "adverbs of degree" to see what other options are possible.
Characterized also na sir
"It is thought by who?" "It is thought by he" or "It is thought by whom?" "It is thought by he"
The whom is wrong in this clause. I think... 🤔
Does IT IS sound like ID IS with flap t?
Correct! :) This is very common in casual speech.
So I'm having trouble understanding which is correct and why:
Hi Alex
for*
thank you
круто
This is also possible, right?: Passive voice + by + that + a sentence
It has been proven by many people that this structure is definitely possible. 😅👍
@@engvidAlex Many thanks, dear Alex. I was indeed relieved by that an expert, such as you, has supported my input.
Algum brasileiro ?
Ana Guimaraes eu!
Alex, I'm sorry but I can't understand why "WE LIVED" and not "we live"?
And the second question:
"lt is alleged that the man was driving at 110 miles an hour."
The man is alleged to have been
driving at 110 miles an hour. Why "have been driving?" and not "had been driving"?
Please discuss 'they' as singular. :)
I prefer active voice.. Plain and simple
😏
Everything were goog but your marker pen had not dark ink
Thanks! Yeah, I'm trying to make sure the ink is clear in all of my newest videos. Sorry for the poorer visual quality of some of these older ones!
@@engvidAlex INDIAN love with you 👍👍👍👍👍
Aren't you supposed to say "...Mickael Jordan IS..." (only for this sentence, as it is contemporary ; it sounds a grammar mistake, regarding tenses correspondence.
hi,
4m not a native english speaker but he speaks about a retired player (no ?) so MJ WAS.." I think
Eric Lacomblez
You're probably right. Thanks. :-)
It IS thought that Helen Keller WAS a blind deaf writer.
Hey Alex, could I say "It is thought that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player ever." Did you put was because he no longer plays basketball?
I think Yes !
