I knew Lewis was about to have a bad lap before it even started. I saw George dealing with that traffic then realized Lewis was even further back in it. It caused him to go yellow in sector one. My only other observation from qualy is I don't know how max fits in that f1 car with a set of balls that big. I thought he was nosing into the wall for sure. To keep his foot in it is wild.
lets put this into perspective. Lewis has had a top 3 car for his entire career bar this season. For 12 seasons he'd had a car capable of winning a WDC (2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014-2021). No driver in history has had this good fortune. Alonso had a championship winning car for 3 years (2005-2007) and has had about 10 seasons with worse material than Lewis had this year.
Soooo Merc knows how LH likes the car to be setup but they didn't do it for the majority of the season basically Mercedes have admitted to shafting Hamilton the whole year then 🤷🏽♂️
Here's what I think Cameron. Mercedes has done wrong by Lewis the entire season and they made a decided effort to give him the better car for his last race. Well guess what, it backfired. It’s important to remember that although Max would not have gotten such a great start without Jos, he is also currently four time world champion precisely because he is not just like his father. I am in 100% AGREEMENT with you on Merc! Lewis was just numb at the post-Quali press briefing. He is emotionally spent and just wants to make it to January. I mean you couldn’t scrub the Hards (whatever tire you wanted) at the beginning of FP3…really! Then you have the sticker that would have been fine had Merc been consistent podium finishers over the past year, but Merc is not, as a result of constant stumbling for multiple years. That sticker (sigh) was ultimately not really about Lewis (and an unnecessary distraction for him and the team). Optimized strategy and car set-up is how Lewis would feel the “team love and support”, but he didn’t get that…and then the bollard to finish it all off. Really curious for not only how Lewis settles in at Ferrari (really hoping for a positive and strong re-start for him next year), but also to see how Merc gets along next year (Kimi is Merc's future, so they have got to up their game)...Toto get your house in order. Nico drove a blinder of a Q3 today (regardless of penalty). Highly unfortunate convergence of inconvenient events for Charles this weekend (a very close second to Lewis) but liked seeing Carlos in the top 3 (he knows the reality of his immediate future and the importance of the moment he is in. Great seeing Valterri show-up and able to extract every morsel of performance out of his Sauber, that was really cool to see. While McLaren seems all but assured for the WCC…we shall see tomorrow as F1 2024 has been way to “dynamic” to stamp good on anything until after the checkered flag (and at least an hour for stewards to finish checking cars and things). The bollard was the nail in the coffin. The real deal was Mercedes using his car as an experiment on his LAST qualifying DAY for the sake of next years car. The problem was putting hard tires on his car, the problem was leaving him an until last minute before getting him out. That is the issue here

It makes so much sense to put Yuki in the RBR for one season. Then he can go off to Aston Martin to partner Alonso as the shortest driver pairing in history. Then they can promote Liam in 26 if he proves himself to lead the team over Hadjar.
What i find so embarrassing is that Mercedes and Toto and Russell where only focused on Max and Red Bull. That took all air time away from Hamilton. Hamilton deserfed more than this.
The saboteurs paid Magnussen to cruise around on his in/out lap and knock that bollard in front of Hamilton to ruin his last qualy with Mercedes so Princess Russell could clearly demonstrate he is their next starlet. Alternatively, F1 has often been a comedy of errors (something I've noticed since the '90s) and it takes a lot of things not to go wrong to mount a successful campaign. I think Hamilton should have quit after 2021 and left F1 with a permanent controversy forever, but his move to Ferrari is a mega-move whether he wins or beats Leclerc or not.

I just don’t get it. Mercedes has always been a juggernaut, with an engine like the Terminator. Their strategy has always been a bit conservative, but sound. Where did it go? This race might have been one race too long for many drivers and teams. That saved snap oversteer was a thing of beauty… but that second lap, he was nowhere. All sectors were yellow. I’m guessing Max lost confidence in the car and didn’t drive to the limit. … As for Lando: this shows what Lando is capable of if he’s relaxed. Lando needs to find a way to deal with pressure… without putting added pressure on himself. No idea how he should manage this.
The only correct tier-list as of right now is: - Verstappen . . - Leclerc, Russell - Norris . - the rest (who cares in what order) Will see if Hamilton and Alonso can get back up to Leclerc/Russell tier or perhaps even ahead. They probably can, as class is permanent. But they are highly unlikely to reach Verstappens tier. Their prime is past and that is okay. Putting Hamilton in Verstappens tier is very unfair to what he is currently achieving.

Why are we discussing what happened to LH? Bad luck. Borderline funny the Haas threw a cone at the worst time trying to get out of the way. LH still threw down a respectable lap dragging a road cone. He was light hearted about it.

Please listen to Niki Lauda's interview where he said that he had to convince LH to come to Mercedes even though it was a midfield car and said they would give him every chance and space to develop the car. And they did. That's why they didn't win the first year, but the year after that they did. That is also why they continue to use LH as a test driver for next year's car. Even on his last qualifying day, check totos interview. That says a lot about his input.

Mercedes, for the past couple of years, still think they are top dawg and base their strategy accordingly. Ferrari humbled themselves and new they had to go earlier in sessions and work harder to get their cars optimized. Meanwhile the fools in Brackley, always act as if that car has a couple of seconds in hand to the competition and can run a car at 75% efficiency and still top the timesheets. This year in particular has been a complete disaster bordering on malice and as Cameron said, I've already gotten rid of my mercedes gear. Good riddance. I turned the whole thing off. Just another Hamilton sabotage/mess. oh well.
It was not bad luck for LH! They deliberately put him in a position where he could fail. Even in the last race they experimented with his car instead of George's for the sake of NEXT YEAR’s car(!!!!), which is insane! Is George not the new leader, no? Should he not take this responsibility, no? Or can he just drive the car and collect points so he can go on interviews and say he beated LH, just like he said in 2022? They literally sucking everything out of LH, just like vampires, before letting him go. yeah, even in this useless season, he has 2 race wins, a bunch of podiums and has finished in the points 18 times, despite being sabotaged. This season was manufactured to give Russel the upper hand. The guy was given a start on third base and thought/thinks he hit a triple. Lets see 2026. It makes so much sense to put Yuki in the RBR for one season. Then he can go off to Aston Martin to partner Alonso as the shortest driver pairing in history. Then they can promote Liam in 26 if he proves himself to lead the team over Hadjar.

What i find so embarrassing is that Mercedes and Toto and Russell where only focused on Max and Red Bull. That took all air time away from Hamilton. Hamilton deserfed more than this.

And they did. That's why they didn't win the first year, but the year after that they did. That is also why they continue to use LH as a test driver for next year's car. Even on his last qualifying day, check totos interview. That says a lot about his input.

Mercedes, for the past couple of years, still think they are top dawg and base their strategy accordingly. Ferrari humbled themselves and new they had to go earlier in sessions and work harder to get their cars optimized. Meanwhile the fools in Brackley, always act as if that car has a couple of seconds in hand to the competition and can run a car at 75% efficiency and still top the timesheets. This year in particular has been a complete disaster bordering on malice and as Cameron said, I've already gotten rid of my mercedes gear. Good riddance. I turned the whole thing off. It was not bad luck for LH! They deliberately put him in a position where he could fail. Even in the last race they experimented with his car instead of George's for the sake of NEXT YEAR’s car(!!!!), which is insane! Is George not the new leader, no? An inflated legacy can't be tarnished. Lewis was very lucky Mercedes had a very long and never seen dominance in F1. He was the best driver present at that team so he won a lot. He didn't build it but he just arrived at the start of the dominant period.

yeah, even in this useless season, he has 2 race wins, a bunch of podiums and has finished in the points 18 times, despite being sabotaged. Ad his Las Vegas drive was perhaps the best drive of anybody this year in any car. Give him a decent car, without sabotage and he will outpace everyone. This season was manufactured to give Russel the upper hand. The guy was given a start on third base and thought/thinks he hit a triple. Lets see 2026.
