    Completely agree with what you say with how companies deal with their mistakes.. that can be the dealbreaker of passengers returning or not.
    Still so shocking that there has been no accountability taken on this!

    Great podcast and an interesting watch. There needs to be some heartfelt apologies and decent compensation to all the passengers on these Maleth flights.

      @@sailawaymag Thanks for responding! This doesn’t surprise me at all. I’ve taken 3 cruises with P and O in the last year and find it very sad that they won’t take responsibility for this. Surely they should reimburse and then obtain the money back from Maleth. Sadly I think they know they won’t get it and that’s why we are where we are!

    It did get written admission from Maleth that our flight was delayed due to technical issues, which meant we had a successful travel insurance claim. I'm interested in the recent letters from P&O and Maleth. I've not got either of these. How can I get them ?

    Good honest, impartial chat. P&O will never know what they have lost and the damage caused until it it too late! PAUL Ludlow doesn't know how to take positive, polite, constructive feedback and prefers just to block people. Well, he is the president, until Carnival realise how much damage he has done to the brand for their loyal cruisers (I've done well over 30 cruises!)

    have you all seen the 1 star reviews for Nordic Atlantic Airways on trust pilot (P&O Cruises new partners) for the Caribbean cruises flights. it looks like they are a lot worse than Maleth Aero

      Thanks for watching Sam. We are aware that Norse Airways don't have the best Trustpilot ratings, however we doubt that the inflight experience could be as bad as what people endured with Maleth Aero. Any sort of improvement in service standards is very welcome!

    It amazes me how people today don’t realise that nobody cares about anything anymore and they are all cruising or on holidays or eating out making UA-cam videos or in the travel business or are far too busy to consider customers .You are dealing with yourselves.

    Have never been able or willing to deal with complaints or issues raised with them or even If you try to give constructive feedback on how they could do better for accessibility etc

      In our opinioN based on personal experience many times, P&O are incapable of fully dealing with complaints and feedback. They send you a fluffy automated email which is sent out on mass, and they think that it will suffice.

    I was so lucky to go from Birmingham on a Tui to Barbados BUT my brother in law wasn’t so lucky they were on the Maleth to Manchester that hit turbulence and had to land in Bermuda they were told because of turbulence they get no compensation 😮 The Tui hit the same turbulence within minutes of each other but managed to fly without major problem… obvious a broken dodgy aircraft shouldn’t have even been in the air….

    For perspective Carnival UK in 2023 had revenue of 17 Billion and profits of 3.3 Billion. Paying that half million themselves would be the equivalent of the take a penny leave a penny tray.

    I was a Maleth victim. 1st December 2023 from Manchester to Barbados. 12 hour delay. P&O completely to blame. Whoever decided to contract an ex cargo carrier to carry passengers on long haul flights. The aircraft was quickly altered with too many seats carrying too many passengers in the most uncomfortable manner. Using crew well out of safety hours for a 9 hour flight. Paul Ludlow with his fancy American style titles President & CEO Carnival & P&O cruises. Useful as a chocolate frypan.
    Same with CAA. Why such a useless body is needed. Maleth just took the contract & money. P&O so dumb allowed it.

    Just so upsetting that like so many we experienced delays ( we flew out to Caribbean on 30th Dec from Manchester), when we boarded Arvia we actually witnessed guests trying to sleep on sunbeds on deck 8. I’ve submitted endless emails to CAA, Maleth Aero , watchdog and P&O. Why is nobody supporting the claims for every guest that’s has this dreadful experience

    It sounded like complete and utter shambles. No one taking responsibility for an absolute disaster. The thought of someone who had cancer and older people or families and them being dismissed. My dad has a medical condition and teg thought of him being treated so badly just makes me so angry.
    P&O absolutely shambles 😡

    It would of been head office operations the Captain wouldn’t be in charge of that he has a big enough job looking after the ship. I will never sail P&O again dreadful cruise line

    This was such an interesting watch, we can’t believe what a poor experience those poor passengers had. Our Maleth flights in February weren’t great so we can vouch for how poor the planes were but it sounds like we got very lucky!

    I think P&O need to take a long hard look at themselves personally. My husband got admitted to intensive care 4 days before we were due to go away and even though we couldn't go for genuine reasons they would not issue any refund, not even a partial one even though I offered to send them my husbands hospital paperwork. I love the ships especially arvia but that last contact with them upset me so much in my hour of need they dismissed me like a number. I will for one NEVER travel with p&o again this maleth scandel just proves my point.

      Hi Gemma, I have no love for P&O, They upset 20+ years ago. however concerning your point around late cancellation, I think you'll find that all cruise operators would have taken a similar stance, it's normally and I haven't looked it up a sliding scale of refund depending on how close to the sailing date. You're then expected to claim back on your insurance.

      @@davidmarsden305 Yes I'm aware of the policies, sadly that is the exact stance they took, but not even so much as a sorry as I was sobbing down the phone. The insurance would not pay up for various reasons so hence why I tried to call p&o, in my opinion if you don't attend especially as we had booked meals and excursions at the very least they should have refunded the excursions and bookings as I know full well they would have resold them. Just sheer profiteering.

    I’ve been cruising with P&O for years and my own experience with Maleth has put me off. We too lost a day of our holiday due to their delays. They ran out of food, the whole experience was not what we would have expected and it was luck of the draw who was on Maleth and who was on another provider. I would agree P&O have gone down hill since the pandemic, the food in the buffet is totally mismatched, I don’t eat meat either and I would say the choices have gotten worse for me, save for green and co on Arvia. It’s a shame because I was always so loyal. Great podcast, really grateful you highlighted this.

    Oh my god... how did I not hear about this before. This is terrible. You paid your money to P&O so your contract is wth P&O not the airline. That is consumer law. We are/have looked at P&O for a transatlantic cruise for next year. We'll be waiting to see the outcome of this fiasco before committing to a P&O transatlantic. Fingers crossed all will work out for all affected passengers.

    I still feel that the contract was with P&O so they surely should be responsible ?? I will never travel with P&O as they seem to have gone downhill.

      You are totally right. The contract was with P&O, that's who guests booked with and they entrusted P&O to use a reputable airline.

    Jamie had the better aircraft. Not such high density as we had.
    Maleth Aero crew said two different times the contract was signed in Spring of 2023. A long delay on telling us only after we paid the balance. Lots of other airlines they could have used. Lots of them based in EU at least 4 long haul airline.
    We will be taking p&o to the small claims court

      People need to remember that if Maleth ignore the small claims court ruling like they are ignoring CAA rulings, there is no redress, no sanction on them. Really a personal claim against directors is the only way ahead as Maleth probably don't own the planes they use

    I was on the Maleth flight to BGI on 1st December that had the 11 hour delay. I've had communication this week from the CAA and they agree that we have a case for compensation, but that there is nothing more they can do because Maleth will not communicate with them. I am happy to join any class action against Maleth and/or P&O.
    I have written to my MP and asked him to instruct the CAA to revoke Maleth's licence to operate in the UK, and hopefully in the EU. Once they are appointed, I intend to also write to the new EU Transport Commissioner on the same subject.
    The founder is one Michael O'brian, the CEO is Lee Jones. I will try to get them disbarred from being Directors, along with Ludlow of P&O

    We booked premium. We had an offer of £100 each as compensation months before the flight as they couldn’t offer the service. Declined the offer and cancelled the booking! At a cost to ourselves.

    On the QM2 between Southampton and New York with Jamie and have followed his channel Travels with Jamie for the last year +. When this happened to him and Matthew, we considered cancelling our upcoming P&O Britannia Cruise to Norway. Having been on over 30 cruises, I found most things about P&O to be acceptable, except for their closing half the buffet, on sea days by 9:30 am. Horrible lines and waiting for seats. It's a ONE & DONE for us, and my guess is, experienced travelers will chose more premium lines in the future! Great interview. I agree that P&O could fix this NOW with an apology, an payment that complies with the law and a future cruise credit to draw the disenchanted back to the company. P&O needs to have their "day in court" with Maleth Aero; but the customers should be taken care of first and foremost.

    - the Executives at P&O and Carnival UK do not care about customer loyalty or legacy customers. They simply care about stuffing every cabin with max PAX capacity
    - an example of a downgraded cruise product

    Not sure why ur all getting into a lather about this. Everyone on the cruise was blessed with money to actually go on it. There are far more serious events in life. If anyone was aggrieved go to the Small Claims court and let's move on in life.

      Ridiculous comment! Just let big business do whatever they like, because after all, we’re all “blessed with money to actually go on it”. Another way of looking at it, P&O Cruises is “blessed with money” and should do right by their customers. If they’re aggrieved, they should take Maleth to court.

      What a ridiculous comment. The passengers didn’t get what they paid for. How much money they have is nothing to do with the situation, some may have saved really hard for that holiday, some not - it makes no difference. Large companies shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this sort of behaviour. If you’d watched @travelblogjamie previous films you’d see it’s not as simple as taking them to the small claims court.
