- Today I will explain what is Dragonsplague mechanic in Dragons Dogma 2 that can potentially cause a lot of issues for your game if you don't pay close attention to details. I will tell you how to contract it, cure it and keep it at bay so it doesn't end your town.

It might have been because it was 1am, but i swear i fought some zombies in a basement of a crumbled building that was filled with thieves
Seen something similar. First there was thieves, friggin fast ones. When I turned around to loot the place it was crawling with undead. Was in the basement of a ruin of some sort.
Thanks for this video LKM ! Big help. I haven’t progressed enough to see anything happen at this moment, but every time I use the stone to get new pawns appropriate to my level… They constantly talk about some illness that they can potentially get where they go nuts. I wasn’t sure what that meant and figured I’d find out eventually but understanding this stuff definitely helps me plan accordingly. Although, at the same time, I do like the idea of like a dark urge /bg3 pawn that seems normal until you take a nap and then they destroy the entire village. 😂

Also, I am enjoying the immersive experience. I’m just taking my time with it. At this point I’m not sure if it’ll change, but I kind of wish that the relationships felt a little more impactful or meaningful/long lasting but that’s its own separate thing. Overall with the world and the exploration of it And little nuances with pawns and NPC’s like what you’re talking about here… Very cool. Very immersive.

Cheers LKM. There's an item late game that resolves this mechanic, but it's better to chat to your pawns before you rest and if required chuck them off the nearest cliff! Loving the game.

@LastKnownMeal only because I watched this. Seriously, it was a arch pawn so she could've been trouble.
On a warrior or rogue though this could be useful. You just have to stay out of town and throw your pawn in the water before heading back to town.
What I do when I hire one I do a save befor I enter the rift if I hire one I just hit my Xbox/ps button go to Home Screen and close the game .
Then I load up the last save that pawn was never hired
I do the save befor I talk too anyone The bloody escort quests are so damn annoying though you have too constantly checked that they are following you some walk fast others walk as slow as that dam BOY from sekiro die 2 million..
I think I may need too throw my pawn in a river only problem is I have no river atm and one thing in this game well 2 things that is the most annoying thing EVER AND I MEAN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is THE Mother******* bird things that laugh befor they attack you and I had 2 of them attack me at once one would get me then befor I could even pull out a weapon the other had its turn IT WHEN ON LIKE THIS FOR 2 minutes never mine I was fighting a dragon and a dam griffin AT THE SANE TIME and the dam goblins yeah there are 9 other people in this fight but let’s just fight the arisen the but let’s not pay any attention on the dragon or the griffin or the soldiers
What is the text pop up I need to look out for when hiring a pawn ? Normally when I hire a new pawn they talk about a sickness that only pawns can get, does that mean they are infected ?
I had to 2 straightforward pawns who would sit on the ground why waiting and would "say my mind was somewhere else" and if I must heal /help you. So I went to a camp site waited 4 days no eye change they kept saying the same things so I'm pretty sure its just the straightforward personality that says that stuff
Weird game mechanism, but cool
Just got that warning today so I ditched the red eye infected new pawn I hired.
I don't really see how players miss this. If you spent some time in this game you know the patterns of behaviour of the pawns, the way they respond. The eyes I find less clear in the early stage. On console anyway. The moment when they get glowing red, sure. But by then they are in a far state and ready to go on a spree and prob infected your other pawns as well. You can prevent that stadium. An already infected pawn in the rift you are able to see it has red-ish colored eyes. But I find it hard to distinguish. And also players colour the pawns eyes. Some say there is smoke around them. I found that all pawns have that in a rift. Even my own character. The moment that something feels off, I yeet the pawn in the river. Go to the nearest riftstone and pull the pawn back if I liked it. Or take a new one. There are stones all over the place. The other thing I kind of like about this mechanich is players who are abusing high leveled pawns to carry them through hard fights. They can have moments where they coughed up a lot of rc and get zero pay out. Another risk and reward thing I think is kind of fair.
The one thing I don't really like is getting your pawns infected after a hard fought battle against a dragon. That feels really unrewarding. But what can you do. The brine is waiting.
Someone said in another Video comment section that all the NPC's come back after 7 in-game days. So it's not too devastating. I need more confirmation, though.
As far as I know I think traders revive and that's about it, the rest go to morgue and then away if you don't revive them in a few days after it happens

Awful mechanic if you can’t start a new game. I know it’s getting changed but Christ, who thought that would be cool…. Don’t get me wrong, if you messed up and can start over then ok. I would have liked it more lol.
