Uuugh i thought it was starting fire without matches lol, i was more interested in from scratch like if you had no matches lol 😂 oh well at least i know how to place my logs now
One little suggestion - start the tinder/kindling before building the entire "cabin", makes it much easier to get the match/fire stick to the right place on the tinder. Finish the cabin as the fire grows.
Humidity is a huge factor. If you using BLM land bureau of Land Management, you need to be certified for camp fires ,which is easy to get on the website. You can upload your certificate.
Thank you for this video. I've slept in many tents and cabins both in the US and abroad, since the 1980s. But building fires has always frustrated me. I once burned up not 1 but 2 entire KOA directories, trying to get things started. Grrrrr! But with your video, i think i got it now.
ROOTS, BE SURE TO BE VERY CLEAR OF ROOTS. A ROOT CAN CATCH ON FIRE RESULTING ULTIMATELY IN THE TREE GOING UP LIKE A TORCH, ESPECIALLY IF THE HEARTWOOD HAS ROTTED OUT OF IT. SOMETIMES THIS MAY TAKE DAYS BUT IT CAN HAPPEN.
Well I've always believed that there's more than one way to do something. I either use the square method or the Tpee. He's using the square method which probably is the best. I used to work at a campground and that was part of my job description was building fires for groups. You can always learn something!
He doesn't appear to be in a kitchen. There is nothing wrong with extinguishing a wood fire with water (ask any fireman on the truck hooked to the hydrant), which is much more realistically available whether at a campsite or in remote woods, in the form of a spring, creek, small pond, etc. You want people to contaminate the fire ring in this case, or the woods in general with chemical fire extinguisher material unnecessarily 😒. Please stay in the city.
What, are you trying to gatekeep people from getting into camping? Think they shouldn’t be able to learn to go enjoy some of the best outdoor activities?
Thanks just tried it out with my dad, worked well. 😊

I love fires! Thanks Nate!
The outdoors is vividly wonderful.
So glad that it suggested your channel. I love it and I’ve been watching her old videos. You do such a great job.

Idk aha damnnnn
How to do it by rubbing 2 sticks together in case you have no match?
At first glance I thought this said how to start an empire. Always knew L.L. Bean products will be useful in conquest.
Well explained, thank you
what a charming man, i hope to see more of him!
Pine needles and leaves work great.
Start small and add larger pieces as the fire grows. If that doesn't work, soak in charcoal fluid and add a lit match. Guaranteed flame.

WHERE would one obtain a camp fire certification? It would have to be more than a Girl Scout badge.
Thank you from Hawai'i. So much water so hard to start. Spent half of my teenage time blowing for help da olfolks start cooking fire.
@l.l.bean - I beg you all to build an outdoor series around this actor to increase brand awareness and equity in an organic manner!
Signed: the dude’s mother
I love this❤❤❤❤❤
This guy should host a series for bean about bird watching in Maine. Js.
Excellent and important information 👍🏾
Be honest you either dont know how to start a fire or clicked on this by accident
Wtf am I doin on this page??? #accidentalclick
Actually, I clicked on it to see how bad it would be. Lol
Accident
Did you click on this by accident ...? 😊
How did you know lol
I’m taking YOU on my next camping trip!!
Well, that got awkward...
I always keep matches in my vehicle. Well when I have one. 😢

Nice. Informative.
I wish i would have seen thia before our to trip to yellowstone, my husband couldn't do it lol or keep it lit lol
thenks for this. helped me a little
I wondered if you were going to remember the gasoline.
Umm, before I leave home I would check the fire band situation not in the middle of the woods or you might not get a signal just saying.
Thank yoou.
Thanks Little Brother 🎉
Good job, that definitely works. I have a better way, but it uses some of the same ideas
Oddly satisfying thank you Nate for keeping me grounded 🔥 call of the wild 🦔
Come back to northern Virginia PLEASE!
Cog hill sent us to your you tube channel
Dryer lint isn’t a good option anymore unless you wear 100% cotton. There are too many synthetic blends now

I learned a trick. Newspaper has a lot of moisture, I would get ones left in the sauna and they work great
A match works pretty good
This guy looks like he watches birds... you can always tell.
He does have that vibe for sure
So sad today's people are so stupid they need a video like this.
More so probably a boy scout
There are two types of people in this world. One who builds a teepee shaped fire, and one who builds a log cabin shaped fire.
Personally, I think Steve Wallis does it best, imop.

You can always learn something!
Uhh... a bottle of propane + a fireplace 'click' starter or Zippo cigarette lighter or matches??
"How to start a campfire" With a book of matches!
Wow
Looks like a mini bonfire... what's up with the matches...? They're not even fireplace matches... I use a butane torch lighter or an electric lighter.
Gas and a bic lighter
Ok if u live in the city 😅
1st!
Can I do this in my backyard...lol
👍🏻
This is not how you do it. Step 1 pile of wood. Step 2 gasoline or lighter fluid.. keep it coming, lots of it.... enjoy
Spoken like a car camper
❤❤❤❤ ❤😂🎉😢🎉
👍☮️😁😸
Learn how to use a flint boy scout
Water in kitchens makes it worse is why anywhere you are or go should always have a fire extinguisher on hand at all times.....

Keep your dog on a leash!
😊
👍
My phone clearly overheard me arguing with my sisters earlier. We’re going camping together and none of us know how to work a fire
That's not scratch
Anyone who's ever tried to burn leaves knows that they suck as tinder.
Definitely works better than what I was doing. Thanks!
I watch birds😂
Be careful with matches.
They are extremely dangerous.
build a tepee if you're a real outdoorsman person
Never use river rocks to line a campfire. They will explode!
😅😅🎉🎉🎉😊😊
🏕️ 🔥 💕 🐻
You need some help
🤓🤪
If you have to go to UA-cam to build a campfire, you shouldn't be camping.
there’s nothing wrong with other people learning things in their own way, actually :)
What, are you trying to gatekeep people from getting into camping? Think they shouldn’t be able to learn to go enjoy some of the best outdoor activities?
Yes! t's like goung to Google College. Ugh
There are several good ways to get a fire going. This is only one of them.
Don’t make us pull out your web browser history
if you don’t have common sense you shouldn’t be in the wilderness at all.😂😂😂 coming to YT to build a fire
I'm from Detroit, we know how you burn shit, I was just interested to see if Junior had city fire starting knowledge.
Turns out....he does not.
