    One little suggestion - start the tinder/kindling before building the entire "cabin", makes it much easier to get the match/fire stick to the right place on the tinder. Finish the cabin as the fire grows.

    Start small and add larger pieces as the fire grows. If that doesn't work, soak in charcoal fluid and add a lit match. Guaranteed flame.

    Humidity is a huge factor. If you using BLM land bureau of Land Management, you need to be certified for camp fires ,which is easy to get on the website. You can upload your certificate.

      WHERE would one obtain a camp fire certification? It would have to be more than a Girl Scout badge.

    Thank you for this video. I've slept in many tents and cabins both in the US and abroad, since the 1980s. But building fires has always frustrated me. I once burned up not 1 but 2 entire KOA directories, trying to get things started. Grrrrr! But with your video, i think i got it now.

    ROOTS, BE SURE TO BE VERY CLEAR OF ROOTS. A ROOT CAN CATCH ON FIRE RESULTING ULTIMATELY IN THE TREE GOING UP LIKE A TORCH, ESPECIALLY IF THE HEARTWOOD HAS ROTTED OUT OF IT. SOMETIMES THIS MAY TAKE DAYS BUT IT CAN HAPPEN.

    Well I've always believed that there's more than one way to do something. I either use the square method or the Tpee. He's using the square method which probably is the best. I used to work at a campground and that was part of my job description was building fires for groups.
    You can always learn something!

    Water in kitchens makes it worse is why anywhere you are or go should always have a fire extinguisher on hand at all times.....

    • @charlesblanton1008
      @charlesblanton1008 9 місяців тому +1

      He doesn't appear to be in a kitchen. There is nothing wrong with extinguishing a wood fire with water (ask any fireman on the truck hooked to the hydrant), which is much more realistically available whether at a campsite or in remote woods, in the form of a spring, creek, small pond, etc. You want people to contaminate the fire ring in this case, or the woods in general with chemical fire extinguisher material unnecessarily 😒. Please stay in the city.
