I've used a mesh bag for camp dish drying for 20+ years. A mesh shower caddy works too. Anything to save space on that picnic table. Food is so much better when camping. Prep what you can in advance. Pre boil spaghett& toss with tiny bit of oil&garlic, take in a bag w jarred or cans of spaghetti sauce & add precooked frozen meatballs/sausage of choice =easy comfort food. Pie iron sourdough deli turkey w cheese of choice and prepared pesto 🥂 less dishes.
Great ideas! Thank you
I need to save some of these space saving tips.
What is pie iron sourdough?
@@hartvenessa A Pie Iron is a tool you can use to cook sandwiches over a campfire: www.llbean.com/llb/shop/45792 ^kw
Pie iron s’mores!
Pill bottles of varying sizes are great storage containers
We have camping boxes that we keep packed. We get most gear at garage sales, i.e., cookware, accessories, etc . . . Love the pill container for spices idea.
I love the pill container hack for spices!
Some great tips here. If the lid of the jar has a paper liner simply take that out put in the sandpaper circle then put the paper back in that way you have no chance of the matches scratching against the sandpaper and causing a campsite disaster. Thank you
My thoughts exactly! 💯
1:30
2:06 you better put a cover over that striker on the lid unless you would like to find out how quickly those matches can go POOF in your backpack.
BTW, safety matches will not ignight when you strike them against sandpaper. Sandpaper does not contain phosphorus which is needed to make a safety match ignight. The only matches that will ignight against the sandpaper are strike anywhere matches. These strike anywhere matches have a white tip on them, which contains the necessary phosphorus for them to ignite.
The spice rack is really great.
Brilliant, truly useful ideas! Perfectly delivered in a charming way! Great job!
She’s cute! Thanks they are decent traveling tips too for people that dont camp. 😂
The spice kit!!!! Wow! Can’t wait to try that on my next trip!
And...because things happen, I would tape shut the lids and place inside a plastic baggie. Or wrap in a towel and use a rubber band to keep place. Great idea until you lose all your spices! I saw a vid that the lady had one of those round dispensers with individual compartments. Think that would work just as well and you can store this one standing up.
@@donnabacon4681 Thanks for this update! Much appreciated. Can you share the link to the video with the round dispensers? I'm having a hard time visualizing what you're describing.
1. Keep an extra vegetable peeler and peel your soap bar
2. You can seal one end of a thick straw put toothpaste or spices a small sewing kit threat and 2 needles or whatever tiny things including matches and a strike strip cut just above the items then seal, with a hot sealer or lighter
3. You can drop glow sticks in a cooler to see into it at night or into a water bottle as a lantern
4. If you have an empty food can tuna sized you can melt crayons to use as a light
5. Do the same bungee cord trick for toilet paper
Baby wipes are much better than toilet paper.
Any ideas for using paper straws for 2 ? How to seal a paper straw?
@@offroad6309 You can't bury baby wipes in a cathole, though - you have to pack it out. Which is so gross!
Cut your brand new sponge in half with scissors And bring one half with you camping. And for cooking spices? I put kosher salt, ground pepper and granulated garlic powder and mix them together and put them into a used prescription meds bottle . I also use one used prescription bottle for creole seasoning -Tony chachere's-
This was great information and please have this person on more videos!! Great presentation skills, and a joy to learn from! Thank you!!
Yeah you've never been in the woods have you? Let me ask you this one question Daniel Boone, are you supposed to get all that stuff in a backpack. Or do you need to carry a full-size wagon behind you when you go out? I mean really you're going to bring all those dishes to a campsite? You'd be better off bringing paper plates you could burn. And you're going to stick a whole big roll of paper towels in your bag? You're going to cut a toothbrush in half to save weight, but then you're going to bring a heavy Mason Jar full of matches with sandpaper glued to the lid? Instead of a small box of matches in a half size Ziploc sandwich bag? And you're really going to f*** around with toothpaste dots when you can get a tiny tube about the size of your finger you don't have to mess with? Let's not forget carrying an extra laundry bag and bungee cords. And how many sets of clothes are you going to take out to the woods? Most people only carry to Sets, the pair they are wearing and the pair they wear at night. If you find a water source you can always wear one pair of clothing while you wash and dry the others. Just how many pair of pants and shirts do you think you're going to get inside that backpack? And how many water bottles are you going to carry? I mean good grief she has one bottle she uses for a lantern, I guess you're not allowed to drink the water out of that one or it wouldn't work as a lantern. Then you have another bottle she wants to wrap duct tape around. I guess you can drink the water out of that one. But then she has another bottle she wants you to pour hot water in to put at your feet. Sure it will warm them up. But you have to take it out because it gets cold pretty quick and then it'll make your feet cold the rest of the night. And you can't use the bottle with a tape on it or it will make the tape off sticky and sticky stuff will get on everything and the tape will be hard to remove from the bottle.
Yeah these are great camping tips for people who have never been in the woods, and should probably never tried to go to the woods. You listen to this person and you're going to get jammed up hard.😢
@@jamesbowen5573Yikes! That’s a lot of words, lol. When we go camping we take three vehicles, so yeah we take a Whole roll of paper towels. I think you’re thinking of hiking for miles and miles into the wilderness with a lightweight backpack and sourcing your water from a stream and pitching a tiny canopy. These are just tips and you don’t have to use alllll of them. Just take what fits your style. Hope you have a lovely day
@@organicmagic8822 yeah I camp out of my Jeep or off my motorcycle sometimes. I don't take an entire roll of paper towels or a four pack of toilet paper for a day. Of course if you have three carloads of people you might actually need a roll of paper towels. How to people that they don't traditionally camp. Going to a state ran campsite with electric sewage and even bathrooms in a shower is not camping. Neither is sleeping in an RV
This is a really great video! Thanks for the tips and the awesome presentation.
Use bar soap on sticky zippers (like ivory soap) works really well 😊
Excellent suggestions.
Some I will use at our next church potluck.
I love the idea of soft light and spice holder. Nice. Thank you for sharing 🤩
Her personality was so cute🙂 And thanks for the tips!
You enjoy scripts?😅
It’s the delivery 👍🏼😊
Duct tape also works great on an open wound until you can get proper medical attention. Also works on a broken finger or toe.
Paper towels and hand sanitizer remove sap from hands and any alcohol safe fabric or surface. We found that out after collecting sugar pine cones. All we had in our rental car was the paper towels and hand sanitizer. It worked!
Mine is always an led candle under a clear plastic water bottle for a fire-safe campfire. A good place to share stories into the evening, without burning the place down.... because campfires are groovy. Happy camping all. Your's, Jack The Rabbit, Grand Teton National Park.
Tip from a longtime camper always bring a fluffy pillow
👍👍
Yeah I'm sure that'll comfort anyone during a nuclear war.😆
That mini spice container is genius ❤
I love LL Bean. By the time I’m 12 gin and tonics deep these will come in handy!!!
A small butane torch is smaller than a Mason jar of matches and a blow up pillow is nice
Yea..... mason jar is heavy.... terrible tip.... carry a lighter
I carry spare matches in a small waterproof container just in case i lose my lighter.
The seasoning in the pill organizer is pretty cool.
She was so adorably cute and knowledgeable while sharing these hacks!😊
When you get the free toothbrushes from the dental hygienist, you usually get a free trial size toothpaste. I just save these for travel and camping. It’s easier than the toothpaste balls idea.
I love the bungee paper towel rack!!!
The zipper waxing tip I would find useful even if it’s not used on a sleeping bag. If I ever get locked in a jacket again, I could use that tip. Or to unstick my backpack zippers. Or if I ever have a zipper on my pants or shorts stuck again.
Love this video- very helpful❤
This was awesome! Great tips and she did a excellent job. Please have her do more videos. Go queen keep up the great work 💪🏾🙌🏾
What makes her a queen; and why do some people just throw those titles around like candy? 🤷🏽♂️😂
What advice can you give for summer camping and storing things that can melt or get very soft due to the heat(deodorant, toothpaste, lotion)?
Hi Nancy, I usually put them in a plastic bag and stick them towards the top of my cooler so they don't get too cool but stay fresh.
That vest 👍🏾
My top 3
3. Duct tape water bottle. (Also, rubber bands would be hood there)
2. The small mason jar with sand paper striker.
1. Mesh bag for drying dishes! This is brilliant. Bonus! I also found a bunch of mesh bags recently!
Thanks pup. Way to teach an old dog new tricks!
So many great tips. Thank you so much for sharing.! I love your humor❤️
Awesome tips!!! Been dying to go camping, but think I'll wait til it cools down a bit here in FL. Thanks!!!❤❤❤
The pillowcase is worth its weight in gold.
I wanna go camping now
Love this!
Nice presentation
Love it, Stephanie ! So happy to see you doing cool stuff. You go, girl!
Great tips!! 😊Gotta love it!
I love these tips! 😍
Large plastic straws cut into sections, flatten on one end, heat to seal.
Fill with spices, salt, pepper, etc., etc. flatten and heat to seal the other end. Waterproof single serving spices easy to pack into little spaces.
Great video 🎉
Exceptional tips and execution!!! Thank you ❤
Good stuff!
Love the inclusion. She’s gorgeous. Great tips 😊
By “inclusion” do you mean that they included a woman in this video? If so yes right on sister!
@@HunterMann So glad you weren’t sensitive about it
Groovy!!! She was awesome!
So awesome!
I laughed the whole time. Thanks
Thank you😊
This was great !!! I love all of the hacks ! 🧡
The pillow case is a game changer
Excellent tips.
Great tips! Thanks ❤
You can also just bring a small container filled with baking soda for toothpaste. It is less abrasive than most commercial toothpaste and it does a great job! I stick a couple flossers right in with the baking soda.
And you can use the baking soda for dishes too.
Very educational. Also useful for hurricane seasons and emergency services (shelters) during short term evacuations (weather related). Camping gears, tips and tricks are needed for zones that are prone to hurricanes & floods. I lived in Miami, experienced hurricane Andrew and the little ones that followed. It was suggested to have on hand such camping items and gears in the event of evacuation for limited shelter amenities. Will come in handy when I finally can get to Hawaii (Surrogate Home). Thanks for the tips, learned a few cool new ones! 🥰🫶👏👏👏🏆😇
😊
For spices, I cut large diameter straws about 3 in long melt the ends shut with a lighter
fun video, thanks
For a pillow I always put my fluffiest clothes in the stuff sack of my sleeping bag.
Good tips thanks 😀
Would love to see a collab with Fridie Outdoors and this. ❤
A round mason jar takes up a lot of space, is heavy, and can shatter into shards that can cause injury to people and wildlife.
Yep. Small pill bottle or waterproof tin. If you can afford it, a small fire starter ( metal flint thing, givves off sparks, dont know real name ).
Good tips for glamping. Funny with the toothpaste part.
We used a extension cord with a light inside a 5gal buket suspended from a tree it lights up the whole site
Best camping trip. Warm bed in a hotel with breakfast ready at 6 am.
😂😂😂 but no, really I dream of that as much as I dream of camping ❤🏕
I smile😊 thank you!
This omg😂 love your videos
Excellence !!
Dryer sgeets to keep clothes freshly scented, reuse as dish sponge
Another trick I learned for cold weather camping is to take a hand towel or heavier shop towel with you, place a large stone in the campfire, then when you’re ready to go to sleep, put out the fire, take the towel and wrap it around the stone, and place it next to you in the sleeping bag. I get really cold very easily, and this has worked in freezing temps beautifully
If you ever find yourself sleeping on the ground in cold weather. Heat 5 or 6 rocks and dig a long whole/trench where you will sleep bury the hot rocks in the shallow trench. It will keep you warm most of the night. Keep more rocks heating in the fire in case you want to switch out. Choose very dry rocks or they can explode.🤗❤️🐝
@@deborahdanhauer8525 I’ve slept on the ground with it snowing and never needed more than one large rock, and no trench. Woke up covered in snow, but I was still warm
@@patriciaflickner5392 well you have a warmer constitution than I do then! I would have been cold lol❤️🤗🐝
As a Eagle Scout I Approve of these Hacks
FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!
I save all the bark from my crepe myrtle tree when it falls off. Great fire starter.
I never got a chance to go on camping trip and would like to go on one.
Using tomorrow's clothes as a pillow wouldn't work for me as I usually drool all over the pillowcase. 😅
I feel more efficient now. Thank you
You can buy waterproof match containers cheap.
Amazing video ! Thanks for sharing
Awesome!
Amazing 😊
Nice
Hell yeah thanks Stephanie!
I camp a lot, so I use the larger pill container for my skin care needs. Can’t go weeks without self care!
Ma’am are you trying to get us eaten by a bear with chapstick on our sleeping bag 🤔
Yes that was a detail I caught too.
I sense this is a college student that was brought in as an actress for this instructional video. Whether or not she’s gone camping she is simply reading a script written by staff from L.L. Bean who are very familiar with camping tips, and could probably publish a book of 300 camping tips but instead they are releasing the tips slowly to the public. Good marketing
@@HunterMann it’s a very nice lady and good quality video but not necessarily the best tip to add chapstick to the tent 😂 even if it’s not a bear, it could attract rodents, etc
She was an actress. And a good one.
When we hear bears growling around camp, the wife sleeps in the truck
Some of these are cool, ya gotta admit
Great tips! I especially liked the pill box idea for spices. I went and bought a 7 day pill box and brought it on my latest camping trip. I put an assortment of spices in the compartments and noticed that, despite keeping the container dry, any seasoning with salt in it (salt, everything but the bagel, etc) got damp and clumpy. I'll have to take some steps next time to keep it even dryer.
Rice will help🤗❤️🐝
@deborahdanhauer8525 thanks! I'll try filling one of the compartments with rice. Or, now you've got my brain going...I could put a little desiccant packet in one of the spaces to absorb any excess moisture.
@@bodang158 Yes, those little packets they put in a small bottle of vitamins might be the right size. I had a salt shaker especially for camping and I put rice in with the salt. The rice was too big to go through the holes with the salt. It worked great, but you have to change out the rice every few months. All that shaking makes it disintegrate. If you separate the salt from the other spices, it should be ok.❤️🤗🐝
@@bodang158To keep spices from clumping in damp weather put desiccant package in a ziplock bag with the pill box.
I love these videos that's why I subscribed 😊
So CUTE and neat great ideas 🎉!!
Wrapping some duck tape around a match will give you more burn time each match.
More tape longer burn.
Great video ❤
I was camper curious in college
mannnnnnn i been looking for one of us who these kinda videos
I was wondering why the first 3 shorts I saw was about skiing, hiking, and camping personalities. All made by the same company. That’s when I realized it’s because this advertisement is that same company!
The toothpaste dots! "Mm..camping!" 🤣🤣
I live paycheck to paycheck so if anything unexpected happens my daughters and I have to live in a tent to build our cash back up... It makes it less sad to have stuff like this to try out
"cut your toothbrush in half to cut down on weight and bulk"
"Store your matches in a glass jar"
... Okay.
It could be a plastic jar. I save Nutella jars for things like that.🤗❤️🐝
Ones for hiking the other is for car camping.
Use them as needed.
Wish you mentioned washing the bag and whether it will shrink or if it is pre-shrunk. Thank you.
