- Savannah, our only daughter, goes to the salon for her very first big hair cut. She has been growing her hair out like "Rapunzel" since she was born and only had a few trims. She finally decided to cut it short as she wanted to donate her hair to wigs for kids, an organization that helps children cope with hair loss for many different reasons. Generally a monetary donation is made, but this time, we just mailed hair. We are proud of her and she is super proud of herself.

What a kind and loving thing to do. Your daughter is so brave. I love her hairstyle. My husband donated his hair last year. I showed this video to my six year old daughter, now she's thinking to donate her hair too. Who knows, maybe next year she also might donate her hair too. This video is so inspiring.
I'm 15 and my hair goes past my knees been growing it out my entire life. I go in Tuesday to have it cut shoulder length to donate. I'm excited and scared. Lol

All 3 of my Granddaughters have enough hair for 30 wigs. My 16 yr old has grown out her hair twice to donate for wigs for children. It's an amazing thing these people are doing.
I'm of curse older, but I have donated my hair 3X in my life time (over 10" each time), you just don't know how much this means to both the giver & the receiver, you would if either party were you!

True, but I knew it was long enough that even if we cut it at her shoulders that it would be long enough. It was perfect for what wigs for kids needed. We also live in Okinawa so the stylist may not have been aware of measuring it before she cut it. Thanks for the comment!

I cut my hair like hers but I couldn’t donate because I had it dyed but when I went to school the next day (my last day at primary) everybody called me a Mushroom and it is almost 2 years later I have had it dyed again but the name still sticks btw she looks SO good with that cut but she has lovely hair that would look good in any style xx
Charlotte Sanderson thank you. Yes there are certain companies that won’t accept the hair if it’s altered but others will. I have a friend that donated to a different company because she had color treated hair. The reason we chose locks of Love is because they rely on donations and don’t charge the sick kiddos for the wigs. I’m sorry you had a rough time with your hair cut. Kids are so cruel. My daughter also got some “not so nice” comments at school but she know we loved it and so did she so we taught her that’s all that mattered ❤️. Thanks for watching.

Savannah’s hair is short enough to put it only headbands or small ribbons so no more braids, ponytails or pigtails for a while (except for half side braids, half ponytails and half pigtails) until it grows back.
I’m growing out my hair so when I’m older I can donate it but my mum keeps making me cut it so now my mum says fine u can get a trim every once a year or two and I’m better with that cause I used to do it 3 times a year

Donating your hair to Wigs For Kids is fantastic! They are such an amazing organization and help lots of kids who need hair! For future reference, whether you're a stylist or a regular person, WFK does have some pretty strict guidelines for measuring, securing the hair in a specific way before cutting, and then the actual cutting itself. There's also v specific ways to wrap the hair and ship. Please, please, please, check out their videos hosted by Jeffrey Paul, founder of WFK, on YT for precisely how to meet their standards so that all hair donations are successfully accepted and used.
