- In this cake decorating tutorial, I was asked to decorate a cake for a Quinceanera in the style of a modern traditional design. Not quite vintage, but not totally modern either. Circa 15 years ago or so. These celebrations tend to be more in this style and I am here for it! This is exactly what I was doing when I began this journey 15 years ago! Oh the nostalgia!

Just a side note...
That stand... Doing it on the fondant like that will allow it to flow better with the cake. Making it look like a cake itself, versus just glueing the beaded strips to the styrofoam itself. It looks cleaner, nicer, More Sophisticated!

I am trying to sell my house, and taking a break from packing up all my Caking Tools, supplies, etc. Going to have to break from cakes for a while till I get settled back in at the new home. Took this break to play catch-up on my phone....
Now I just wanna unpack and make a cake! 😅

I like the smaller spacer it makes everything else really “pop” or stand out. But with all the gold bling on it it stands out on its own as well. I like this one, well done 👍🏻

Do you use marshmallow fondant or store bought??? I swear, my fondant , if it sits for even a minute will start showing like hair line cracks ... I use store bought. So I feel like I need to use it like right away for it to not dry or mess up
I prefer marshmallow. But for convenience sake, I end up using store bought. It helps me to work in a good amount of shortening to condition it first. Maybe that might help;)
