What cant they do it the other way ? 1 x 1 = 2 right? then 2 x the 3rd # 1 would equil 2. can they do it this way also?

Hi, sorry I am just seeing this comment. This was a few years ago so I don't remember what was exactly on the test, but I do remember this video was very helpful. Amazing video man. As late as I am I'm just thankful. My algebra teacher is horrible. We spend 3/4 of our class time digging into school announcements or doing assignments that aren't relevant to the subject we're studying and them he takes 10 minutes to do 2 examples and makes us memorize everything in one day and then we move on to the next subject. These videos are better to understand.

For some reason, I remember being taught to keep the constant the same and to change the sign of the algebraic expression. This method is much easier and infinitely more intuitive. I'm sure I'm going to have to help my kids with this math eventually, so the refresher is much appreciated.
