The new generation coming up in music and recording needs to see this. The hoops we had to jump through to get what is now not even a thought is incredible. Fantastic video!
I am amazed by the degree of "solidness" with setups like these. CV/Gate, triggers and also DinSync just *works*. And it's tight and runs for days without any drift. Love it!
I’ve never had any timing issues with midi clock, apart from some device’s preference for being master or slave. That’s without any computer involvement 😉
@@leftmono1016 "That’s without any computer involvement 😉" . That´s the Point. After all those Years of getting better and faster, it´s still a pain in the ass to sync a bunch of external Hardware Synths or Samplers to a DAW Clock. This cost me so much Headage over the last Years and i havend found a propper solution till now. 😵
@@mondamnil - it’s very frustrating. I’ve tried and failed to sync a DAW properly. The compromise is to sequence externally and record the audio on the DAW. I only tried this recently and it worked like a charm.
@@mondamnil decades ago I sold an FSK sync box. It had worked fine with my Atari but the bloke I sold it to was using a PC (Windows 3.1) and he had trouble. The 606/707/727 are the most undervalued '80s machines. I've seen several this year in excellent condition for $500. They all have great sequencers that can chain patterns and have a song mode, and they all have trigger outs that make it really easy to clock all kinds of things - even a Volca Drum or any Boutique with a Ext Clk In. I'm surprised more eurorack people don't use them. Well, maybe they're not the MOST undervalued things from the '80s. I still see the D-110, TX81Z and SPX90 for under $150 all the time. But nobody cares about 19" rack modules.
@@RaquelFoster You’re absolutely right, old equipment works very well with eurorack! And regarding rack synths, It’s something about a synth in a rack that does not feel right. I think you have to be inspired to use it (it’s an instrument after all) and it’s not very inspiring to play with a rack synth imo. ❤️
There's one I have that I can't seem to get to use easily, I guess it's a little deep. It's a eurorack sequencer called eloquencer by winter modular. It's flexible and can do a bunch of variations, but I never dug to deep into it because it's seems like it's a bit deep in programming involved in it.
You ve got all my dream synths man ..... like 1/1 ratio....oh do you have the ppg, u would only need this one to add and that would be perfect Odyssey in white is stunning .
@@Nenko_Music a PPG would be nice. Almost bought one a long time ago but I had to choose between a 4 voice and the PPG, I chosed the 4 voice (which I unfortunately has sold).
Why not just simply send the midi out of the TR-707 and send it to a midi hub. Then, take any of the midi outs of the hub and send them to the midi in of whatever you want. That's what I do and I control 9 synths from one master synth....
@@KeruxLand Great question! The most obvious reason is that old synths doesn’t have midi. The other reason is that (even if they had midi) you can’t split the note trigger from the note value in a midi setup - meaning I couldn’t have played the Odyssey as I did. 👍
@@matthewhawkins9873 the song is 4/4 but the arpeggio is 5/4. it’s called polymeter. Check out this great explanaition from Andrew Huang ua-cam.com/video/htbRx2jgF-E/v-deo.htmlsi=Fp4C3AADk8ANsP0p 👍
Great demonstration! I like the sound of the TR-707 beat playing in 4/4 time, but clocking 5 notes in the Roland SH-101 sequencer to give the song a rolling background melody.
