      I coach triathletes and use TrainingPeaks. I have specialised in athletes, who struggling with minor health problems or physical limitations and above 50 athletes. I have coached Ironman and half Ironman athletes as well as ordinary bike athletes. It is a really good way to communicate and follow athletes progress.

    I had a coach 20 yrs ago, heart rate based training. Best thing I ever did, performance increased significantly. Now self-training w power, “canned” training programs & TrainingPeaks (TP). It’s amazing but I now have more questions than answers. Next step is to hire a coach who’s very familiar with using TP to analyze training results and use it to develop my personalized training.

      @@nihanab I mean, it looked like he had to seriously think about some of the questions. I'm sure it was a pick and pull of various questions from topics but also some of her own. If GCN wants to survive long-term they have to get payments to go interview some people. Despite him paying for it, I found it pretty interesting. Plus I love when a GCN presenter comes to good ol' US of A. I'd like to see something with Garmin at some point, but I realize Wahoo throws GCN money hand over fist. Might be a non-compete clause, who knows. But I would love something similar with the fitness team at Garmin.

    I like and use TrainingPeaks, I've bought multiple training plans, and I generally liked this video. But all the data that can be seen throughout this video is ridiculous.
    Let's have a look at 09:50. Top right plot - the critical power curve. Someone did 900 Watts for 20 minutes. Well, somebody probably just strapped a power meter to a horse. Whoever came up with that idea is a stable genius I guess.
    Also, again, same timestamp. Let's have a look at the TSS: 9h ride, 1365 TSS. That means that the whole 9h were ridden at 125% FTP. That's impressive even for a WorldTour horse.

      So as an individual user, both! You can get a compilation of data, and then hire a coach to help you understand it, and help you get fitter using that data :)

    • @Choedron
      @Choedron 2 роки тому +2

      You can buy many different training plans through TrainingPeaks, which you can add and remove to the calendar at any date. So you do not need a coach, if you are very much on top of your training yourself. And you can make your own plans and workouts to save for reuse etc. For instance base training plan, build plan and speciality plan, which you can save and use year after year when you get to that time of the year. Since the workouts are based on % of your FTP, then the plans will scale when you improve your FTP. And you can make changes to your plans. Therefore they will never become obsolete.

    I use and like it as well but it hast it‘s problems (especially working with no coach). The key challenge is that there no extrapolated musculare fatigue. For example a very short crispy Intervall ride comboned with a mid intense strengh training can end up in being musculary bustet though TP tells you „all fine - load was okey tomorrow you kight train as usual“. As experienced athlete no problem but as beginner the wrong prediction crashes some group rides maybe.

    There is one issue with TSS calculation in training peaks. This is a intensity metric and not a stress metric. For example, it doesn't have the same stress on the body to do a 10 min threshold interval at the beginning of a session than after 150km on a race. Training peaks calculate the same TSS for those 2 very different efforts and this is not correct. I think it is a great tool but be careful how you use it and always follow your feelings first.

    • @rotation-y2n
      @rotation-y2n 2 роки тому

      But it measures the part that came before? There isint suddenly a higher physiological cost by doing efforts at the end of a session

    • @joselozano7475
      @joselozano7475 2 роки тому

      @@rotation-y2n of course there is a physiological cost because you are already under very high fatigue. For instance running a marathon on an Ironman has much higher training stress than running a stand alone marathon (at the same pace) but trainingpeaks will calculate the same TSS

    • @rotation-y2n

    #AskGCNtech# Hi guys! Do you know, why top tube, mainly, is not horisontal any more?
    Problem for me is, that with inclained top tube, there is no room for bag inside frame, otherwise can not fit 0,7L bottles for long rides, where people actualy would need space for this bag. (My frames is 50-52 cm)
    As saddle position is higher than steering bar, i see that there is no problem to have top tube horisontal, exept, it add weight for frame.
    As found, it add aero gain.
    As for me, horisontal tube add classic beauty as well.
    Please, raise this topic, I believe, you can influence frame producers.
