- For one year and a half i wanted to make this scene. And after 2 month almost nonstop working on this project it's finally here! It could've been done sooner, if it wasn't for some depression and health problems. Yesh, 2020 have no mercy to anyone.:)
You can hear some differences in audio quality if using headphones (Especially at the beginning). This is because i don't have headphones, and i couldn't hear any differences via dynamics. This isn't much of an issue, but still i apologise for it.:(

Ok I'm just gonna say it: 1.I was expecting Jojo comments from the very beginning, but not 10 times per day. I understand that people just making jokes but when you see this joke over and over again it starts to getting on your nerves. 2.Those two moments some people keeps joking about wasn't put to do a reference. It's common for japan and it's common for Knuckles saying these in japanese. So if you're saying that I just shouldn't add these in video I will say that I cannot, since it is part of the character. 3. About the fight scene. It wasn't ideal but please keep in mind that this was my first time making something like this. Also I'm not a professional animator and I'm working alone, but I'm trying to make my animations better everytime.:)

Scenes like this are why I still love Knuckles as a character. He’s a good person with a good heart. He’s a hero and guardian through and through. Shame SEGA wanted to just harp on the stupid joke
He was such a goof ball in Sonic 3, pranking Sonic whenever possible while laughing at his misery and getting all worked up when Eggman betrayed him.
くんマフムード back when Knuckles was still a competent rival for Sonic. Knuckles could easily trick sonic or get then upper hand with all those traps. A shame we haven’t seen him do anything like that since.
I guess you could say SEGA thinks he's a real knuckle-head...
It's silly...he's gullible and lacks social skills because he lived his whole life by himself on a floating island, he's far from stupid, he justs trusts too easily.
At least, that's how he was early on, he eventually started breaking that habit and becoming more paranoid toward strangers.
But never dumb, I'll never know where that trope for him came up.
Thank you! Someone had to say it. All we can do is hope that he can get some redemption in the upcoming 2022 Sonic movie. I mean they listened to us about Sonic, maybe they'll listen to us about Knuckles too :)
I'm just going to remind everyone that the reason why Knuckles had to save Rouge from falling is because bats cannot fly upside down. If Sonic Team just animated her to fly immediately upon falling while she is upside down, then they clearly show that they didn't do any research.

I'll give you that bats cannot fly upside down BUT any winged individual should be able to get out of an awkward fall simply by extending their wings out. Through wind resistance, their center of mass should ultimately point towards the center of gravity, their wings pointing away.
It's the same principle that ensures parachutes ALWAYS point above a skydivers body and away from gravity's center.

Wow, this was impressive. I think this is the first time I heard this scene in Japanese, so it left a good first impression. Maybe I'll check out the rest of Sonic Adventure 2 in Japanese.
This scene sums up why I appreciate Knuckles and Rouge's dynamic more than hers with Shadow. This is the first time you ever see Knuckles apologize for his aggressive behavior. And it's the first time Rouge willingly give up jewels. I truly believe that the two of them grew a little thanks to each other.
I also appreciate that this comes off as a real fight with Knuckles getting dirty and Rouge getting scratched.
Besides the obvious romantic tension between Knuckles and Rouge. There’s no tension between her and Shadow.

This was very impressive! You did an excellent job! If there was one criticism I could make, it is that the fighting animations sort of look like they could use a bit more "weight" and momentum. Like with the shot where Knuckles throws Rouge, it could have used a bit of "follow through" on Knux's arm motions. However, in regard to the expressions, body language, the choreography, and other aspects of the scene, you did an absolutely magnificent job! Fantastic.
I always wondered why Sega havent continued the relationship with Knuckles and Rouge in the latest games. I know that she spends most of the time with Shadow now, but I guess that once in a while she can have an adventure with Knuckles just like how other characters used to have. They seem to have an interesting chemistry and dynamic.
They always have little moments together. In Team Sonic Racing Knuckles showed concern for her. They were also standing next to each other at the end of the game (cuz Rouge always has to get close to him😏). There's also Sonic Colors DS. Forces. Generations. And they have a really obvious moment in Sonic Runners, the iOS game. But yeah, it would be nice if Sega actually cared about development again. So sad. She was basically introduced in SA2 as Knuckles' love interest/rival but I guess they can't go anywhere with it, especially with the new mandates. Also, her dynamic with Shadow is not romantic. I don't understand the shippers. Just because she spends more time with him cuz they're on the same team, doesn't mean they're automatically more romantic or something. Shadow's asexual, for cryin' out loud.
@@laniakea871 That's what I thought. Shadow is just Rouge's best friend and teammate, and there's nothing else going between them. In the next games I hope to see the love/rivalry relationship that they had in Sonic Adventure 2, and they are playable due to being important to the story. There are endless possibilities of why they will encounter again.
@@fabianugalde3789 Me too. And I would like to see Shadow have some positive interaction with someone besides Team Dark. I really like the dynamic between him and Silver in 06, and even the 2012 Olympics 3ds story mode. That's what I loved about Rivals 2: we got to see some unusual character matchups. We need more of that.
You know guys, I wonder if Shadow would have an interesting relationship with Cream (like an older brother-younger sister one). I bet that he could be more positive and friendly with her but who knows. Also, I would like to see characters like Marine, the Babylonian Rogues, Team Hooligan, Might, Ray, and Big the Cat (even though hes hated) to come back into the modern games, and see how they react to the other characters in the Sonic universe. I would also love for Sally Acorn, Cosmo, Tangle, Whisper, Shade the Echidna, Sticks, the other Freedom Fighters, and some other characters of the comics to be introduced in the upcoming games. I bet Sally could have an interesting relationship with Sonic and Amy, or Cosmo a loving relationship with Tails.
@@fabianugalde3789 Haha, fans have been writing a lot of comics for the Shadow-Cream dynamic you just described. Big was in TSR; it made me so happy. I actually like Big. I like Tangle and Whisper - looking forward to seeing more of them in the comics at least. But I highly doubt any of the Freedom Fighters will show up in the games, or even in the idw comics. And because of the Ken Penders lawsuit, Shade will never be used again.
I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't have guessed this was made with Source Film Maker because of the level of quality behind this.

Knuckles: Because I used to be enemies with Sonic sometime ago. But then, after Dr Robotnik betrayed me, he saved me from the collapsing Temple. He would’ve said: You don’t have to be the hero to take care of yourself or steel jewels. Just the right ones. He even told me he lost everything, the way I did.

Really impressive. The impact and force of characters attaching needs work, but their emoting is fantastic. Totally believed these characters were converting.
Cool recreation. It's a nice dynamic between the two. And it shows Knuckles as a collected, smart character, that's ready to kick ass and react fast when he need to ( I mean she didn't really give him a choice, did she :P ). But also save a person and show compassion, by apologizing for the fight. And Rouge really appreciates him, even though she totally wouldn't admit it xD.

This is why I want a SA2 remake so bad, the characters and story were solid but the cutscenes and voice acting brought it down a bit. If they did a remake and have scenes like this it would be absolutely amazing.

I adore the facial animations and the lip sync cause that type of shit is hard to animate but you nailed it hard 💜
My only criticism is the lack of force and impact used in the battle. They two seem quite slow and stiff. I know its hard to animate a fight scene but it is still pretty decent fight. Another one is the bloom. The models whites of their eyes turn dark which is unnatural. Could be just a bug when using the effects but I really don’t know since I don’t animate in SFM.
On top of all that, absolutely amazing job on remaking this scene. Keep up the good work 👌

I never realized how closely the English translation of some of these lines matched up. "I don't need a gem that reeks the scent of echidnas" becoming "They stink like echidnas do" is really neat to see.
Also I know that "Yare yare daze" is something perfectly in-character for Knuckles to say in Japanese but hearing him say it aloud gave me whiplash.
Some really nice detail in this. Such as if you look closely, right before Rouge falls, it looks like her wing is broken, adding another layer to why Knuckles had to save her. Also, he was _really_ rough with her. Like, my GOD Echidna!

Отличный ремейк, получилось стильно и динамично. И события кажутся здесь более логичными, чем в оригинале, к примеру здесь нет замедленного падения Руж - приём слоу мо отдан для других моментов, где он будет смотреться лучше. Вижу здесь хорошую режиссёрскую работу :D
Хочу отдельно отметить образ Руж: он ей идёт. Очень уж она привлекательная и харизматичная в ваших анимациях, наверное это из-за её глаз. И эмоций, разумеется, которыми вы её тоже наградили. На такую Руж безмерно приятно смотреть. Наконец-то её яркий голос сопровождается достойной, живой мимикой! Вау!
В общем, анимация впечатлила. Видны старания, видно качество, виден особый подход. Мне понравилось. Удачи автору в дальнейших работах!

Really captured the Japanese voice actors performance. It's way better than if using the janky English version.
This makes me miss when Knuckles was a actual character. Devout in his beliefs and actions but understanding, thoughtful, and empathetic when the chance to appears. As opposed to the "UNGA BOONGA ME MAD SO ME LIFT CAUSE STRONG" character people make him out to be.

Lol “UNGA BOONGA” but yeah I agree I miss the old knuckles, he had anger issues but had emotion as well, may I also add that he was tricked a lot but he wasn’t stupid. He used to be a good character, now all we have is buff knuckles who is way too stupid for his own good and lifts. In sonic forces he at least was shown being smart and actually is leading a team but isn’t playable. Also what ever happened to the Master emerald?
This applies to almost every Sonic character at this point. Hell I watched SMBZ for the first time a couple weeks ago and aside from the fights, the biggest thing that stood out to me was seeing Sonic and Shadow be actual characters for the first time in years (not counting the movie). Especially Shadow.

Sure, the fight animations need a bit of work, but the body language and expressions are genuinely the most expressive I've ever seen these characters!

Trivia: The Japanese VA for Knuckles here is Nobutoshi Kanna aka Guts (Beserk) and Rouge’s is Rumi Ochiai aka Kurenai Yuhi (Naruto)
Somehow, 1:16 was my favorite scene of this video and I don't know why. Also: 1:29 makes Knuckles become Knuckle Kujo, who refuses to use his Stand, Pumpkin Platinum, for this fight, because he feels the fear of Rouge.
