I have the N64 version of Quake 2. And a N64 that I put in a new Power assembly a while back. It has Easy and harder levels. The easy is easy but lots of fun.
Where did you get ahold of the weapon models? Quake II RTX has an inaccurate handle for the super shotgun and the models of the railgun and BFG 10K are different
Texture mod packs.. that's what I used to download back in the day... Those packs wud change your weapon models, projectiles, wall and sky textures.. quake2 forums is the best place for stuff like that
competitive quake 2 RTX is a fuckin unicorn to me because holy hell, having a computer to play it at a competitive framerate is a challenge in and of itself

it reminds me of mid 2000s to mid 2010's specular abuse. Everything looks shiny where it shouldn't be and the floors look squeaky clean... I'm trying to find the remaster version with the original textures in nearest mode. The effort here is nice, but it seems unless making everything shiny where it shouldn't be was intentional, a lot more work may be needed to limit the reflections to ONLY where they should be, and to make the reflections on walls appear less glassy.

What happened in q2dm1 is you basically just got owned by someone obsessed with q2dm1, happy to play it duel it for 5 hours a day every day and not play anything else.
I found it as a good moment to finally end this match. This all was fun. For me much funnier was when i caught him on upper rocket after rocket jump, while he tried to get a win hiding there 😁 peace
Im not the one who recorded this match as description says. If you dont like this version, you can always go and watch this match recorded by me few years ago - its already on my channel
well, i just did quick test. Blends are working, but effect isn't good enough anyway. It requires extra tuning for materials, brightness and other stuff to get sort of "clean underwater look" in RTX.

Yes, if you want to launch "catch the chicken" mod on your Quake II, of course you need mod :) You can propably download it here, put it in your baseq2 folder, then launch the game, type in the console "game ctc", then gamemap q2dm1. Let me know if it works, never tried it on Q2RTX because I dont have that

It's a great game with lots of scores, but there are too many flashes in this rtx, I have a hard time seeing the opponent, or I'm too old :)

Rtx for competitive gaming looks like shit. You caannot clearly see the action, and visibility in water is a joke.
Yeah, he could set gl_polyblend and cl_blend to 0 - we could see much more in water and no flash after receiving damage :)
You can edit the lighting options, everything is customizable. Rtx will soon take over esports - Quake was the original Esport.
