Hi, everyone. I'm Kevin Coleman, Weber's growing expert. There's nothing better than a great grilled burger. And that's a topic of today's masterclass. We're going to give you 10 easy steps to follow to take your burger grilling to another level. Now, the first step that we're going to follow is our grilling game plan. And all this information can be found in our owners guides and our great cookbooks or the apps that are available. Now, the second step in grilling the perfect burger is inventorying our barbecue grill. Now that we've inventoried our grill, we're going to move on to step number three, and that's setting it up for direct grilling. Now, anything grilled under 20 minutes we'll be using that method. We're going to get our charcoal started, get it nice and hot, and we're going to move on to step number four, which is the pre-heat. We've set our grill up for direct cooking, now we need to pre-heat, and that's step number four. This is by far the most important step when you're grilling something. This sets the whole tone. It brings a grill up to temperature, it helps sear and caramelize which gives us all that great barbecue flavor. If we don't preheat our grill properly, food can stick to the cooking grate, it can also take longer which can dry it out. So what we're going to do is put our grates on, close the lid, open up our vents, and set our timers for about 15 minutes. We've got our grill pre-heating, now let's go on to the next step. That's the fifth one, and that's taking our burgers to another level. Here we have ground chuck. It's 80-20. We're looking for that 20% to really bring out all that flavor and that juiciness. Once we've got our meat we then need to combine our ingredients. This is going to bring out all that great flavor of the burger. Here we have some Worcestershire sauce, some ketchup, barbecue sauce, bacon, onions. Now once we've combined all those we're then going to form it into a patty, and that needs to be 3/4 of an inch tall. That's going to help it cook evenly on both sides. So make sure you're staying at that height. Now, before you take your meat and you put it on the grill, there's one last step, put a thumbprint right down the middle. We don't want the juices to pull in the middle. So once we've got all that stuff done, we're they're going to come back to the grill and go to the next step. Our burgers look fantastic. Now we're going to move on to step number six, and that's cleaning our cooking grates. We've cleaned our cooking grates, now we're going to go on to step seven, and that searing. Searing are those beautiful grill marks that you see on your food. Now we need to set our timer. Here I'm using our Weber app, and the time for these burgers is four to five minutes per side. If you notice some dark smoke coming out of the grill, there's a couple of things that we need to do. Either we close the damper which lessens the amount of oxygen inside the grill, or move your food to an indirect area. So now we're going to wait four to five minutes, and then we're going to get to the next step. Our timers just went off and that takes us to step number nine, and that's flipping. And we only need to do that once throughout the cooking process. And please, don't be one of those people that pushes down on the burger and lets all that juice and flavor out. Keep it in the burger. We've got our cheese melted and our burgers off, and that takes us to step number 10, which is resting. Any time that we grill anything we need our food to rest for at least 30% to 40% of the total cook time. Now, hopefully in this video we've been able to give you some great tips on how to take your burgers to another level. If you have any other questions, you can find us here on the blog, you can refer to your owner's manual, or you can call our customer service at 1-800-446-1071. And always, happy grilling.
Thank you!! My father ruined grilled food for me decades ago. I decided I wanted a grill before I turned 40 and just got my first Weber kettle. I need the internet to teach me how to do this right.
How come he’s ruined it? If you dont mind me asking 😅
But its great to hear a fellow griller enjoying the wonders of the grill, enjoy!
I used to do my burgers this way but have switched to reverse searing with a little smoke. Produces a much tastier and juicier burger, worth the try. Thanks.
Reverse searing is my preferred way to cook on my grill too. Especially for thick steaks!
Don't paint the fence!!! I like the videos just the way they are. It's nice to see someone grilling on what looks like a frequently used grill in an ACTUAL backyard. Nice job, Kevin.
Fuck that shit, it'll make you super happy to see a nice fresh coat of paint when you step into the back yard and you get that sense of pride.
Haha. Don’t worry about the fence but at least trim the bushes and kill those weeds
Thank you Weber Grills!
Very easy to understand.
Everything here was spot on except it's a recipe for meatloaf lol
😂😂😂😂
You don't add things to your hamburger?
I put bacon bits/ onions / Worcester Sauce in my hamburgers.
Its absolutely fab U LOUS on a charcoal grill.
It's 2022 dude.
Get outta the 1970s.
Meatloaf has bread crumbs and egg. That’s a meatloaf staple
You must like bland
Well done.
It somehow feels like watching an Apple keynote. ❤😂
Thank you.
Tanks weber
awesome video got the steps in order perfect just one question I have 3 vents on mine when I close the lid do I shut the bottom vents
Young Jefe96 no. You need keep the bottom vent open at all times when cooking.
Kevin, thanks for the video. Straight forward and super helpful! For the next one, maybe Weber can send over an intern to help you paint that fence :)
InstaBlaster...
Awesome. have not yet had a bad meal from you guys.
You clean the grate with STILL brush?
Very informative! 👏
Was the bottom vents open
Yea i will do this.... Tonight...
Yummy yum yummo yummy yummo yum
how come other burger cooking experts say to use a griddle to keep more of the juices?
btw. i have a camping weber grill and i don't like it because it's really heavy, barely generates enough heat, and the lid is only attached by one hinge now because apparently one of the pins just fell out some day.
how much charcoal?
that's not a burger its a damn burger shaped meatloaf.
a char-grilled, burger shaped meatloaf. probably edible but definitely not a "burger".
Lee Blaylock I
Why is he doing that HAND SIGN ?? we know your a freemason But seriously , so OBVIOUS !! who do you think you are T rump.? Ha haa
Right... salt pepper on some ground chuck seared to perfection with a nice brioche bun and veggies... melted sharp cheddar on top and it’s a wrap

Weber Grills - I called your customer service the other day because I had a question on getting a Glen Blue 26 inch Weber Kettle and on your website it only shows Black. The guy that answered is a call center in another country. Doesn't know anything other that what we can see ourselves on your website. It sucks when companies have no contact in our own country. Really makes you not want to buy from a company that doesn't keep it all here in our the U.S.
The thumb on the middle conflicts with his comment of not wanting the juices pooling up in the middle.
That is exactly what will happen.
the Weber grilling expert is named Coleman!?
So you leave the vents open while grilling?
Yes open vents means more oxygen which means more combustion. Only close the vents if you want low slow cooking or smoking.
Just tried them and did 3 minutes on each side and came out at medium. Super yummy. Will do 2.5 minutes next time for a medium rare. I think........
I hope you don't do that with ground beef :/
@@fredericpetitpas right! Unless you ground that meat yourself I don't recommend doing anything less than well done with ground beef.
You can't eat ground meat like you eat steak. Ground meat has greater amounts of bacteria all through it because of greater surface contact (and contamination). Medium to well done is how you need to eat ground meat.
Put 5 burgers on the grill and took 3 off ....
This is the best burger grill instructional ever. EVER!!!!!
Not really
How long will that charcoal last? A few rounds if you're cooking more than four burgers?
Yeah, way too much charcoal for burgers in that grill.
You can put lid on and close all vents to extinguish the charcoal and use the partially done coals for the next cook
After my Weber kettle cools, I twist ashes into the pan, and blow it out clean with my leaf blower every time.
TriState Forestry Service good idea.
Just be sure to hold the leafblower at arms length and turn your head.
wish i could afford a weber grill great job though kevin
Imous DooM Craigslist's is your friend - got like-new 22" Premium model for $60.
If you can't afford a Weber grill, you can't afford any grill. Don't buy some junk that will rust out on you in a year.
I want a jacket like that
A newbie Weber guy here... How do those burgers not burn over those HOT coals? And with the vents open? Unless he had the lower vents almost closed...
One of the great things about these grills is the air flow control. If you close the top and bottom vents, there is actually a tight enough seal to kill the fire. So to answer your question, I find I have a LOT fewer flare ups since I switched from my gas grill back to the weber. I almost never have a flare up and on the rare occasions I do, I just close the top vents for a few seconds and it fixes the problem. If you're wondering why this is, it's because you're severely limiting the amount of oxygen inside your grill and there simply isn't enough in there to sustain an open flame. Don't believe me? Put it to the test: start your grill up and once the coals are going, pour some olive oil onto your grates and watch the flare up as the oil drips down onto the coals....put the lid on and close the top vents about half way (perhaps all of the way if you really got a good inferno going). I guarantee you the flare up will be extinguished in just a few seconds. Good luck and happy grilling!
Mark Heinze Thanks, bro. I had 7 massive burgers on the grill tonight because we had company and they filled the whole grill so I couldn't do any indirect heat areas so I had the coals spread throughout. The flare-ups were so bad there were flames everywhere. I moved the burgers to the top warming rack for a while and had to bake the burgers, was a flipping dissaster. That's real good to know about closing that top vent up to extinguishe the flames. Will try that next time, thanks!
What's his name lol
That lawn is dying...
hahahah
Like his hairline
So that's Med rare?
It's all cooked. I do this all the time, 4 mins direct, flip, 4 mins direct, but contrary to this vid I then flip a 2nd time but on the indirect for another 4 mins.
i dont have all those cool accessories, and a brick is my replacement wheel :(
Hello, we are sorry to hear this, We can help with a replacement wheel! Please contact us at support@weberstephen.com. Thanks!
Let’s cook a burger not a meatloaf
Only flip once? Yet burger is brown on both sides when you flipped "only once"
I’m confused... if you flip a two sided burger once then you have grilled both sides....
@@smoll.miniatures you're not the one confused, lol!
Ñ
That not a burger that’s a individual meatloaf
Distractions, forget about grilling, how about re-soding.....
long as ur hands are positioned like his when together....ull be ok
This guy can cook a great burger, but he really sucks at lawn care.
guy has never grilled before, the grill is too clean
I doubt the webber company wants to show off a dirty used grill
Okay.... you can grill🙂 now you need to learn how to green your lawn
I love to grill on my gas grill
Seriously?🤔
His finger tips must have magnets in them the way his hands keep slamming together with his finger tips touching. That's really distracting. Here's the grill, here's the table and here's my finger tips sticking together! OMG I can't stand it, make it stop!
I just got the biggest laugh from this comment!!! LOL!
I couldn't sleep so i went and watched a video i just laughed so hard woke up my neighbors
This is hands down the funniest thing I've ever read on YT.....ever
This video makes zero sense! At 3:18 , you can CLEARLY see that those burgers have already been cooked several times on each side already?! 😂 AND, at 4:14 he says “….only flip once” and yet just before he flips the burgers, you can CLEARLY see the top ALREADY has been cooked!! My advice - if you want to cook perfect burgers, do NOT follow this video!!😂
That's meatloaf not a burger 😂😂
All u need is salt and pepper. All that other stuff is not necessary at all.
nice lawn dude
4 minutes per side with the lid on? Those burgers would still be raw in the middle!
MrCoffeekelly depends.
I don't trust this guy
Dude looks like he rides bicycles asks people if they're interested in the lord Jesus christ
