    As someone with ADHD, sometimes I find it hard to really analyze build paths and all that stuff without getting lost in it. So I do really appreciate these kind of build guides.

      Wudi is pretty darn good too

    • @d1vin1ty
      @d1vin1ty Рік тому +7

      @@gotaplanstan I'd argue wudi is much better because raxx can be close minded frequently (think hurricane where he completely ignore synergies it had and how much support it provided builds). Wudi tends to have a much more open mind to less used things and is willing to theorycraft with stuff a lot of major creators like Raxx quickly discount.
      Another example is shred. He spent his entire druid experience on the first betas listening to chat and not testing stuff himself. So while the rest of us were straight BLASTING with shred and hurricane on our werewolves, raxx was levelling in 3-4 times the amount of time. Instead of actually TESTING the class he just went "the few things I've tried and been told to try feel gross. Druid must be bad". And that was with the beta having almost no support for the skill too. An even more clear example of this is how their levelling guide during, and even now after, the server slam, still recommends tornado even though objectively every one of the fastest levelling times amongst ALL the classes was shred because it's high burst, high mobility and we knew this going into the server slam.

    • @gotaplanstan
      @gotaplanstan Рік тому +1

      @@d1vin1ty yeah you're not wrong. All the hate shred has got has absolutely baffled me. It makes werewolf druid feel like potentially *the* most mobile build in the game, or at least in the conversation with rogue for it.

    Raxx that rare node you mentioned at 14:12 isnt gonna require 200 str. You should try inputting your boards to lothrik and use the Assign Index feature, cuz costs for rare nodes go up with each new board you add. So since thats your 4th board, it's probably gonna be in the mid-high 400s. Granted it looks like you'll have enough, that's probably still an important thing to note for a build guide

    I used to really care about being good with the META in games when I was younger. But as the decades are passing, I've moved towards just playing to have fun. I will not put in the work to figure out the most optimized builds but feel lame if I'm not using one. I really appreciate players like Raxx that are willing to do the work then SHARE it with us. They don't have to do that, but they do. My kids are much more relaxed in their game play and just pick options that sound or look cool. Also, the way you break things down and reason while presenting your builds is very educational. The only part I'm missing for all the builds I see are suggestions "When leveling pick up this kind of gears, lock for these stats, favor this weapon combination" etc. Probably way to basic for most, but would be very helpful to start learning to evaluate the gear you use.

    I was never one for the end game "min-max" theory-crafting or actually playing for that but strangely enough here I am watching vids about streamlining builds and how to's. I always enjoyed immersing myself in the game and it's lore from start to finish with all classes but d4 actually has me excited for the end-game. The amount of possibilities they've created that hang on each other...damn, I think in one stream they were saying: "I find this aspect or this glyph at one point and it's so good that it makes me change my hole character". I think it will be like that for a few good months if not for longer. The amount possibilities and with each class are incredible. I just spent about 30 mins down the rabbit hole on a necromancer minion build trying my best not to get side tracked when seeing so much potential to switch it up into a completely different build.... Yep, really looking forward and I'm very happy to say that even if it flops completely down the road into some d3 sh*tshow, I'll be content that the money I spent will bring me its worth in the first months of the game.

    im always torn on these kinds of videos. its hard to put it into words but i will try my best.
    for me, i want to stay somewhat competitive. thats how ive always been and im a completionist, i dont put down a game until its done.
    allow me to take D2 as an example: sure, there were forums and the game lobby but for the most part, most of us came to pretty much the same conclusion on our own, while playing the game.
    sure, there was conversation everywhere, tips and trade, you were in the loop as they say.
    but now i feel like i cant really compete with the top, even if i take time off work for the release weeks because there are so many insights that the public doesnt reall has access to. like rhykker testing some pre made builds and trying the capstone dungeon for example.
    and while i really appreciate and love all the effort you guys put in to make it all digestable for us it is : A. still an advantage to try it hands on and B. i feel a little spoon fed to be honest and "robbed" of getting a chance to contribute if that makes sense. sure, its a live service game and the playing field will be evened out eventually but the game isnt even out yet and there probably exist builds already that can finish it. the work is already done if you will.
    I just feel like it is a very real concern for gaming in general because the theory crafting aspect is for many a part of it that they cant really indulge in anymore.
    it wasnt really supposed to feel so ranty, i love what you guys do its just a lingering feeling of maybe having the game played for me before i even had the chance to do so myself :D

    Hey Raxx, I appreciate this video. Something that really resonated with me was how you spoke about the Unbridled Rage vs Unconstrained choice for the barb. I see things like this in a lot of guides, for example DK guides in wow a few expansions ago recommended not taking a skeleton archer minion talent, but nowhere did it mention that if you didn't have insane gear that was already pushing super high haste, the archer was better. Im glad you mention a setup with unconstrained, as too often I think guides only show the ideal setup and not the steps where "worse" talents are actually much better in the short term.

I will get as much extra int as possible for extra resists. There are a few aspects that increase life regen in groups and things like that. Love the spreadsheets even more than the builds. I wanted to play full WW from the beginning, but it makes some bosses almost impossible earlygame. I’m also scared to invest in bleed until the stacking of it is tested out. That being said, there are so many nodes in the paragon boards that are tailored towards a bleed build, that I think it will be the strongest endgame build for barbs. Have you looked into the mechanics of bleed? If so I’d love to hear your thoughts in one of your quick explanation videos!😊

      What do you mean by 'the stacking of it'? I played Rend in the first Beta and Firewall in the second and all the DoT effects absolutely stack (Sorc even has a capstone that rewards you for stacking different sources of DoTs).

    • @Kanner111
      @Kanner111 Рік тому +1

      @@jordanelbers Every instance of a DoT being applied just does its own thing, the different DoTs do not interact with each other in any way (i.e they 'stack', but they do not refresh each other's duration or anything.) You'll see a number ticking every half(?) second or so and that number goes up the more DoTs you apply, until you hit the point where the old ones start to time out. It's like Guild Wars 2, basically.
      I don't know if there's any worries about a DoT cap, on Fire Sorc that wasn't really a concern because like 5 Firewalls and some Firebolt spam every ten seconds didn't amount to anything serious, but maybe constantly whirlwinding and putting up multiple different DoT procs per fraction of a second could threaten that if it exists, but that's more the kind of testing you'd have to do, not 'Do DoTs even stack at all?' because yes, they definitely do, you're not just making e.g an hour long, minuscule damage over time effect by taking the Whirlwind talents they give you.
      This is pretty different to some other games, especially Blizzard ones!

    Thank you Raxx, for all your work, time and passion. You are the one that actually gets me excited about D4. I was really looking forward to a complicated, endless-possibilities gameplay and I think we are going to enjoy what Blizzard built for us this time. Love your work buddy!

    I've always been a Diablo casual. Diablo III at that. I'm the guy that looks for c the build copies the build and plays.
    These videos are awesome. I want to get serious about Diablo IV and really learn and use this stuff to make my own builds. But good builds. Like west was said above sone if us ADHD people just want to play. So it's tough reading all the fine print. But these fanes give you all the information. We just need to slow down and use it. I hope we csn get access to some ofv these charts you have.

    This is super fascinating. I have been playing ARPGs for years, but have tended to rely on build guides. I have wanted to make my own builds, but I have struggled in the more complex games, and simpler games it isn't satisfying. I would like to try and make my own build for my first character at least and this gives me a way to at least attempt it.
    Only thing is if there are links to the boards, legendary powers, and skills? I get not sharing the spread sheets, but I don't know where the best resources are to get it started.

    Cool tips, thanks man - gonna be making my own videos soon enough, absolutely love D4 and feeling so much more motivated than I have in literally years. From what I've seen so far at least from the beta, these would be my recommended starting paths for camping;
    Barb: Frenzy with dual axes
    Sorc: Fire seems to do more damage, but I would go with Ice for the crowd control
    Necro: Skelies. Even post nerf they are the best soloing option as they will tank hits for you
    Rogue: either Twinblades or Heartseeke + Rapid Fire, both are pretty strong. Definitely go ranged path if you are new to Diablo and use a Bow, not a crossbow for best mobility
    Druid: Werebear because you will be so stupidly hard to kill.

    Excited for the guides to come. Cool to see your insight.
    Always in ARPGs, during campaign levelling, I feel like I try and focus on teleport/blink type skills and movement speed. I've played things like Titan Quest where I kept boots that gave me like 14l3 armour compared to 50 at the time because it gave me 20% movement speed

    I know a lot of people are/were sleeping on the hewed flesh(?) passive that necros have. The skill is a must for any build using a lot of corpses. 4% per skill point to summon a corpse whenever you deal damage and double the chance against elites. It's absolutely one of the best passives even for things like corpse explosion builds. I always had basically unlimited corpses on bosses with it. So good

    I have a weird but fun way to create my own builds. First I don’t plan anything. Second I random pick a class then random pick something on that class, a unique, a board, a glyph, a skill, a class mechanic, an aspect or something like that, which becomes a must for that character, then I build around that, whatever that is. It’s really fun, not as boring and unsurprising as following a guide. 😊

      And obviously go hardcore until I die. This season I got lucky on my third Character since I rolled Necro that should use Ebonpiercer

    Another thing is stat requirements go up for rare nodes for each board.. so you're glyph order might not be the sole factor to decide which board you attach on first (have to attach the rare node's board you want sooner + might sure that board's glyph radius has the states u need for the glyph you want

    I've been preaching this for months. The early meta is going to be builds that primarily/only use codex aspects to get through the capstone dungeon. With that and as you said, single target is going to be vastly important and any aspect that takes single target damage and makes it cleave will be golden. For example, for druid, the Stormclaw's Asepct is a codex aspect that makes shred crits (werewolf core spender) deal an additional 20% damage to the target and surrounding enemies. Pop that in a 2 handed weapon and now youre getting an additional 40% crit damage MULTIPLIER (not additive) that also cleaves. As the werewolf build lacks in cleave/aoe damage, this is going to be a key aspect for werewolf builds to get past the capstone assuming you don't have amazing gear luck.

    I’d love to see some of the technical side of how you build these level guides if you’re up for it. How do you parse the files to extract the stats, etc. What does the backend architecture look like to store the relationships of the skills, items, etc.
    Btw thanks for your content. Love what you do.

    i like this video better than build guides because it gives explenations as to how you're thinking when making a board and i'd really like to do that myself but ingame when D4 starts. The thing is, i like to experiment, create a board or talent tree (depending on the game) then test it with a few mins gameplay, then test another thing etc etc i could spend a whole week only doing that, i've done that in many other games ..... but it won't be possible because of the high gold costs at high lvl, so in the end i'll probably be using premade paragon boards from maxxroll, i really wish respec were free (sry if that triggers somebody, but i don't care about other people opinions on the subject, that is just how i've been playing arpgs for many years and i'm not about to change)

    I think you should take a look at Iron Maelstrom ult on the Barb, it definitely has some good endgame potential. Between Barb having more weapon sockets (for diamonds) than the other classes, and the walking arsenal passive, it definitely has high potential endgame
