I have to say that is a very good brazed carbide tool Dean. Flame cut edges even on low carbon steel [picks up carbon from the fuel gas] leaves a very hard case hardened surface that can chip any tool if the tool does not cut under it into the softer steel.👍
It may be just me Dean, but I do find shapers very relaxing to watch. Your machine looks to be in amazing condition. I'm sure you'll find a project inside that piece of metal. ATB Cheers Nobby
A little positive top rake and much deeper depth of cut with less step-over would be helpful. You gotta get under that rough surface and HSS will do the job better than zero top rake carbide cutters. Is your clapper clamped?
Yeees! Shaper Monday. Always a joy to watch.
Thanks Rusty !

I was surprised too, it's an old one C6. came through unscathed
My old 7B is my favorite machine in the shop. It has cut many internal keyways in the last 35 years.
I still need to make a better tool holder for keyways and internals.
Thanks !
