about to drive the best passes through Austria, Italy and Switzerland and this video gave me goosebumps! Thank you for sharing your experience, extremely well filmed! Keep it up, this channel deserves a lot more subs!!!
Marek, wow nice edit! Your cinematography is next level. Soul food indeed for Autumn days. I drove the Stelvio Pass in June, during the day but it was ok as it was 1 week before high season. I only drove it downhill. We drove from Davos, Ofenpass(recommend) to Val Mustair and then took the Umbrail pass, that one was amazing, we slept up on Stelvio Pass Height. The roads in Italy were disappointing in terms of road quality.. I love Swiss better, coming summer I want to go again to the Alps and explore Austria more. Cheers!
@MDrives and agreed on the crowds later in the day. Get up at sunrise and blast it is the way to go. Gonna do next trip in an E85 Z4 3.0 manual with M seats and suspension so that should be a whole lot of fun
Dear Mdrives nice video and with all respect your point about bikers, I can understand it. Unfortunally we do need that "full" road to make the turn with sometimes our heavy bikes with luggage and pillion rider, please do take a bit of your time to watch a video about riding the stelvio on motorcycle and hairpins technique :) you will understand why that space is so important for us to not stall and fall down. For driving in the steep small corner with your car is ok you have 4wheels you can't tipp over. You hit the brakes and you can stay still. In the "inner" corner with a bike you can't because your footh has no ground beneath you, upcomming traffic is sometimes not possible to see with the walls. Thank you for your safe driving and your patience when passing all those bikers. Thank you it saves lifes.
Thank you for you very educational post. I know it’s probably not very easy but I think in some cases the situations I found my self in were caused by some bikers being excited and carried away by the amazing road. I can understand that too but you would think that being on bike you would take all precautions to not get hurt. I actually have done CBT last year and will be doing full bike licence soon too so I understand your points about difficulties with turning. Anyway, once again thanks for your comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Stay safe!
The best time is 7am on a Wednesday. I went early summer, June 2017, in a Fiat 124 Abarth. Got a clean run the whole way up. Overtaken by two motorbikes. Came up from the Italian side. Stayed at the Hotel Bella Vista near Trafoi. Right at the bottom of the start of the climb. I drove down for breakfast and met a bin lorry which was on its way up. Also, some clown was towing a caravan on the way down. I then went up again at 10am-got overtaken by two Porsches. There are several little lay-bys/parking spots at some of the bends closer to the top, where you can stop and look down the valley, Then I headed for Como and went down the Swiss side, which is not as good a drive as from the Italian side! IMO!
Brilliant drive Marek. We did the susten, Grimsel, etc last year in our M3. You're right about the bikers. I rude, but was really not impressed by some of the corner cutting as I was descending the passes. Right on the crown of the road on sharp switchbacks. You've really nowhere you can go. Apart from that, brilliant drive. Hoping to do the stelvio this year as we go further across into Italy. Just curious, do you have ceramic brakes or steel ? I suffered a bit of brake fade descending the passes last year. Thanks again.
Thanks. I had no brake fade but I upgraded my brakes. They are still steal. I think a mist is the fluid. Something like RBF600 will help a lot. Better pads would also eliminate any fade.
First, thank you for these amazing videos. They’re inspiring and informative. Much appreciated. Q: Just how early did you rise that morning and about what time was it at your first arrival stop Passo Stelvio? Thanks. Safe travels!
@@mharro88 technically they have different engines but in reality there isn’t much difference between them. There will be a video comparison of M2 with M2 Competition in the next two weeks.

@@MDrives i agree too. Some bikers get excited and it is no track or Nurburgring 😁.

Nice car to do it in! Always wanted to try one of those. 7am is a good time.
@@MDrives Not a great car really-an MX5 with a Fiat badge. I'm going back in 2026 in a 993 C2S hopefully.

Thanks you. It’s great to see that they inspire people to travel 🥰
I started climbing about 7am. Roads got busy about 8:15am.
Great video. Where did you get the "arm" attached to the seat and holding the Gopro? Selfmade?
Thank you. I purchased it. I’ll find out the company name.
Great video man. What time did you set off?
I think I started the climb about 7am
Epic...
Thanks 🙏
Bro, once again! It’s like you have production capabilities of BBC/Amazon TopGear/GrandTour 🫡🫡🫡
Looked like an absolute nightmare of a drive sadly.
Only on a way back. You need to get there early.
What year m2 is this?
Early 2017
@@MDrives is it as good as the 2020 model?

What a bad driver. Take a lesson to handle the steering wheel. Take a lesson to use the clutch.
