Wow! Thanks mate. This is such a great lesson. I just went and got a Special 20 in A for it and you've explained the riffs so well I'm already rippin on riff 1 :) Thank you.
This is so much harder than I couldve imagined but I’m thankful I have this video to help. Still trying to figure out how to make these notes sound solid
You're welcome. Here are some songs I have videos for that use a C harmonica - Magnolia, House of the Rising Sun, Piano Man with full tabs on my website. Cheers
Hi George... You really have done a very good job. An easy way to understand the riffs on Roadhouse. Very easy to do it. Now I play as a professional. Not yet, but, I know with your lessons I will. Thank you very much. You rocks.
Thanks! best lessons yet! Many people don't know that Jim actually played harmonica, not very well- he kinda faked it but doing the Jim role in Alive She Cried- The Ultimate Doors Experience Tribute band this is gonna come in real handy already have 4 of the riffs down! Easy Ride! Again THANKS!
Great job, George. I teach other instruments and can say you gave a lot of clear, concise content (in less than 7 minutes!). Thank you. I'll be checking out your other videos.
The blues resists me, but thanks to this video dominarlo.Gracias and shall begin to desire you continue climbing mas.Apesar not understand any English (a picture is worth a thousand words) .... Zapa
Usually I use a Hohner Special 20. I did on this video. In my case I also have Hohner Blues Harps, Pro Harps, and a couple Lee Oskar diatonics at the moment.
My Harmonica is a Bb, I thought this set sounded good in that key too. I think I will end up having to collect half a dozen harmonicas to play every song!
Man, Nice lesson, could you please answer me these questions: 1. Can I play this song in a C harmonic? 2. Does it means that I need a diferent harmonic for every song in different Tonality? I'm just gonna star learning to play harmonic and I want to play Bluesy Rock songs...the doors..guns n' roses...poison...hard rock....Thanks
Hi. You don't want to use a C harmonica. It would not be in the same key as the recording. In order to play diatonic harmonica in the same key as the original recordings you will need a number of different keyed harmonicas. If you're looking to play blues then I would recommend getting the keys A and D. These are good for blues in E and A which are the most common blues keys. Cheers
Same pattern on your C harp as on an A harp. Just can’t play along with him. But hardly any band will play it in G for you to use your C harp. Meaning you’ll have to buy an A. I personally don’t like the A as can’t make it sequel like the hight keys. However the low key harmonicas like the G, A and B are the easiest to learn on because the note bend so much easier. I remember the best progress I had was on those harmonicas
Hi George! Are you in Vancouver? Would you be interested in being hired to play for a couple of hours at an event? Or, do you know anybody that would be?
Hello sir, i bought a suzuki easy rider harmonica yesterday because of i have not much money, i would know if it is great to start playing the harmonica?
Hi Diego, Less expensive harmonicas will tend to be more difficult to play and will break quicker than a quality instrument. But if that's what you have, play it and don't get discouraged. Cheers, George
I think I have an A flat Harmonica (on the side of my Harmonica it says: A and then a sort of weird looking flying b). Will I be able to play this song?
First of all thank you for teaching to play the Armonica, but I would like to know what model of Harmonica you are using for this song ?, Thank you from Peru
Hi Valentina - Using a C harmonica puts you in a different key so it doesn't sound good when played with the original recording. It would sound well by itself or if the song was played in G. Peace, George
Andy Birger Hey Andy. A lot of times you can replace draw 2 with blow 3. By using draw 2 though, you give yourself the ability to bend the note and give your playing more shape. Double bending draw 2 results in the flat 7 which is part of the chord and blues scale.
Great tutorial mate but isn't Riff 3 first heard when Mr MoJo is singing "Going to the roadhouse gonna have a real good time" Might have been mentioned in earlier threads. Not checked. Great work though Mr G
So I’ve been practicing real hard learning some songs and picking up techniques - but John Sebastian seems to be using a technique none of the on line teachers talk about - sliding. Maybe he’s just playing really fast which is another way to look at it. But for me it feels he’s sliding.
Hey JB. John Sebastian has great shape to his notes. He really uses his diaphragm to adjust volume and attack. His notes aren't all one volume; they have a build and end in volume though it may not really be discernible.

You're very welcome. Much appreciated.
George, You are my master harmonica sensei. Decided I would self tech in '15...looked at quite a few instructional videos and yours are the BEST!
This is so much harder than I couldve imagined but I’m thankful I have this video to help. Still trying to figure out how to make these notes sound solid
Good stuff, Kayleigh. Keep at it. Don't be timid with it. You own this.

You are a Master my friend. I hope you are having a great day.
Riff 1 it's so simple yet sounds SO good!!! It's, idk... so bluesy LOL

My frustration when buying my very first C harmonica.. and i'm broke so, i'll just have to be patient i guess xD
Man, Nice lesson, could you please answer me these questions:

2. Does it means that I need a diferent harmonic for every song in different Tonality?

Hey, very good tanks!
Give us some songs in harmonica in "C" ?!
see ya

thanks i hope learne harmonica :)
Great lesson. I'm wearing the same shirt as you right now which is weird
Hi George! Are you in Vancouver? Would you be interested in being hired to play for a couple of hours at an event? Or, do you know anybody that would be?
Is there a reason why you play 2-draw instead of 3-blow ? It's the same pitch and it seems more natural and comfortable at some cases.
Hello sir, i bought a suzuki easy rider harmonica yesterday because of i have not much money, i would know if it is great to start playing the harmonica?
Hi Diego,
Less expensive harmonicas will tend to be more difficult to play and will break quicker than a quality instrument.

Thanks! I will try it.
Good luck to you!
I think I have an A flat Harmonica (on the side of my Harmonica it says: A and then a sort of weird looking flying b). Will I be able to play this song?
This might sound like a lazy question, but
What Brand & Model Harmonica do you use?
Sweet...wanna sit in? lol Great lesson. THANK YOU!
A question: why would you use -2 over 3? Personal preference or does it sound better?
how to bend notes to get flat 3rd and flat 5th on a diatonic harmonica
he uses an A harmonica, as he said in the video
Hi, George.
I bought a harmonica in A, but it doesn't have the G note (-4), but the G# instead. Do you think I can tune it to get this note?
+Guilherme Machado G# is the draw 3, to get the G note (minor third) you need to bend 3 draw a half step to get that note
+Dvilch thank you very much!!
what is the tone of his harmonica ?
A
+George Goodman fuck, i have tone C
Good Good Good yay
First of all thank you for teaching to play the Armonica, but I would like to know what model of Harmonica you are using for this song ?, Thank you from Peru

no

All these riffs have so much inhaling and my lungs appear to be too small for so much air. Any tips on technique?
Also, why are there so many -2s? Couldn't some be just 3s?
Andy Birger

Do I need A major or A minor harmonica?
A major. I didn't know minor harmonicas existed
