M3 Powerbook, yes. My last Powerbook became useless. It couldn't handle video editing without overheating and throttling, and stopped being able to record sound properly, so Ballyhoo was actually recorded on an older laptop, with the files being sent across to the Powerbook by Airdrop for editing and uploading. A really cumbersome process. So far the M3 is great, and the built-in speakers are excellent.
The Bossa style makes me think of a load of stuff: Japanese bands like Cornelius and Pizzicato Five, but since you mentioned El Records, I can’t help but think of Louis Phillipe. Seeing the David Sylvian tribute cover also makes me think about the synth arpeggios on Japan’s Quiet Life album (and singles like Life in Toyko) - because they are like bossa in never diverging from the set pattern. In late 60s Brazil, artists like Os Mutantes and Gilberto Gil caused some political outcry by messing about with bossa rhythms, so it’s really interesting to hear Momus talk about activism through music! I saw Gilberto Gil play in Liverpool last year - superb! Also Michel Legrand is mentioned, Demoiselles de Rochefort! The Fall! I love the references Mr Momus shares with us. A personal story of relevance: I am a musician too, but I am respectful of my neighbours, using headphones whenever I create or listen to music. I like in a tiny terrace. A young lad moved in next door, an erstwhile DJ working in the modern ‘club style’ (like 135 bmp, little more than a kick-drum, four-to-the-floor, like fascist marching music). I know this because 4 or 5 afternoons each week, for as many as 4 hours a day, he would practice at loud volumes. After several months of this, my introversion disappeared - I wrote a very clear letter explaining how the council would deal with the noise. And it stopped right away. So maybe my writing a letter was a ‘quietist’ solution to the noisy problem. Walking down the street in the video - made me think of Alan Clarke’s films, especially Elephant.
What a lovely comment, thank you! Yes, Japan, the country, and Japan, the band, good references! And I know the pain of having a techno head neighbour: that happened to me in New York, and my little apartment became a living hell.
BRAVO GREATTTTTTTTTTT POChèTE!
Cheers from Brazil!
Looking forward to the new bossa nova style momus music
Happy New Year, Mr. Momus!
These are my favourites . A deep dive
Oh is that a new M chip Mac ? This bodes well for future creations ...

A tip for Udio when wanting no solo: put "backing track" in the prompt. Doesn't always work, but it seems to help.
Is the reference to Japan’s Quiet Life with the album cover art deliberate?
Caveat - I haven’t finished the clip, and the context is emerging.
ps really enjoy your work. I have a few albums.
It's a real Japan reference, but spoof artwork!
Which animal is that on your head?
