Daniel Falade What high school does she attend? Prove where the school says they were on a college tour. That means there would be multiple white students along with them in the cafeteria, right? Or did they just decide to go on a school tour on their own, the second week of school. Juniors or seniors?

All that talking, and in your face passive aggressive attitude just shows how cowardly they really are. They want to make us uncomfortable, becuase they are uncomfortable in their white skin. White supremacy is actually white inferiority, insecurities and paranoi. In other words they are weak.

But, they did kick Black people out who are wearing BLM shirts. A black man got kicked out of a Christian church. They also complained when athletes exercised their protesting right. They did not support the 4th amendment, they demanded punishment. You said we are treating them like they use to treat us, but we are treating them like they are treating us today. It's not an excuse, but treat a people a certain way for centuries, don't be surprised if they start returning that energy.

As for her right to where what she wants, you are correct in saying that she has that right. The other students on that campus also have a right to express how they feel about it. Stealing one of the girls hats certainly wasn't an appropriate or lawful response, just as punching a Neo-Nazi is not lawful. “Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.” Thank you. You know what would make America great? If we could all try to have a bit more respect and empathy toward Americans who are different than us and learn more about each other’s experiences.
For example, I am an atheist, but if I am eating somewhere where a blessing is said before the meal, I will sit quietly and respectfully and not start loudly munching salad while everyone else prays.
Imagine if instead of intentionally trying to rile Howard students up, these girls arranged to sit in on a class? They probably would have been shown hospitality and be exposed to opinions and experiences other than their own in an academic-not media- environment. They maybe even learned something!

What year are your statistics from? So these statistics didn't change over the 200 years of legalized slavery. Something is wrong with your numbers...Here are stats from 1860:
      www.civilwarcauses.org/stat.htm
Total number of slaves in the Lower South : 2,312,352 (47% of total population).
Total number of slaves in the Upper South: 1,208758 (29% of total population).
Total number of slaves in the Border States: 432,586 (13% of total population).
Almost one-third of all Southern families owned slaves. In Mississippi and South Carolina it approached one half. The total number of slave owners was 385,000 (including, in Louisiana, some free Negroes). As for the number of slaves owned by each master, 88% held fewer than twenty, and nearly 50% held fewer than five. (A complete table on slave-owning percentages is given at the bottom of this page.)
For comparison's sake, let it be noted that in the 1950's, only 2% of American families owned corporation stocks equal in value to the 1860 value of a single slave. Thus, slave ownership was much more widespread in the South than corporate investment was in 1950's America.
On a typical plantation (more than 20 slaves) the capital value of the slaves was greater than the capital value of the land and implements.
Slavery was profitable, although a large part of the profit was in the increased value of the slaves themselves. With only 30% of the nation's (free) population, the South had 60% of the "wealthiest men." The 1860 per capita wealth in the South was $3,978; in the North it was $2,040.
"But even if it is narrowly true, it’s a deeply misleading statistic, cited religiously to distract from the much more relevant number, the proportion of soldiers who came from slaveholding households. The majority of the young men who marched off to war in the spring of 1861 were fully vested in the “peculiar institution.” Joseph T. Glatthaar, in his magnificent study of the force that eventually became the Army of Northern Virginia, lays out the evidence.
Even more revealing was their attachment to slavery. Among the enlistees in 1861, slightly more than one in ten owned slaves personally. This compared favorably to the Confederacy as a whole, in which one in every twenty white persons owned slaves. Yet more than one in every four volunteers that first year lived with parents who were slaveholders. Combining those soldiers who owned slaves with those soldiers who lived with slaveholding family members, the proportion rose to 36 percent. That contrasted starkly with the 24.9 percent, or one in every four households, that owned slaves in the South, based on the 1860 census. Thus, volunteers in 1861 were 42 percent more likely to own slaves themselves or to live with family members who owned slaves than the general population.
The attachment to slavery, though, was even more powerful. One in every ten volunteers in 1861 did not own slaves themselves but lived in households headed by non family members who did. This figure, combined with the 36 percent who owned or whose family members owned slaves, indicated that almost one of every two 1861 recruits lived with slaveholders. Nor did the direct exposure stop there. Untold numbers of enlistees rented land from, sold crops to, or worked for slaveholders. In the final tabulation, the vast majority of the volunteers of 1861 had a direct connection to slavery. For slaveholder and nonslaveholder alike, slavery lay at the heart of the Confederate nation. The fact that their paper notes frequently depicted scenes of slaves demonstrated the institution’s central role and symbolic value to the Confederacy.
More than half the officers in 1861 owned slaves, and none of them lived with family members who were slaveholders. Their substantial median combined wealth ($5,600) and average combined wealth ($8,979) mirrored that high proportion of slave ownership. By comparison, only one in twelve enlisted men owned slaves, but when those who lived with family slave owners were included, the ratio exceeded one in three. That was 40 percent above the tally for all households in the Old South. With the inclusion of those who resided in nonfamily slaveholding households, the direct exposure to bondage among enlisted personnel was four of every nine. Enlisted men owned less wealth, with combined levels of $1,125 for the median and $7,079 for the average, but those numbers indicated a fairly comfortable standard of living. Proportionately, far more officers were likely to be professionals in civil life, and their age difference, about four years older than enlisted men, reflected their greater accumulated wealth.
The prevalence of slaveholding was so pervasive among Southerners who heeded the call to arms in 1861 that it became something of a joke; Glatthaar tells of an Irish-born private in a Georgia regiment who quipped to his messmates that “he bought a negro, he says, to have something to fight for.”
