She wrote "The River" when she learned that 73% of suicides was by men, and she thought it must be because men are not "allowed" to cry and show emotions. Trust me if you listen to a slow acoustic version of The River, it hits hard as well like some of her other slow songs. She has some more "pop" sounding songs on her later albums, but the lyrics always has more depth than most pop music, and often the music too. Here is a beautiful little story from Aurora from an Oct 2018 article, explaining a line in "Infections of a Different Kind", and it she even mentions the concept behind the title of her 3rd album "The Gods We Can Touch" which wasn't released until 3.5 years later (Jan 2022): "On track eight you say ‘Be god in the shape of a girl’ - what does that line mean to you?" "I was at an airport, it was late, I was alone and my plane was the last one to leave. It was the year before I wrote the song, so 2016, which was a hard year for me because it was quite busy and I was sick all the time - I was in the hospital many many times. So yeah, at the airport… I was on my way home again, I felt a bit out of place, out of my own body, and then I looked at this family. I saw two very tired parents, and then this little girl - she was maybe 3 years old - and she seemed to give them so much joy, even though they were very tired. And she gave me a lot of joy. And then I saw an old couple, leaning over to look at the little girl who was smiling back at them. She seemed to interact with almost everyone at the gate, and make everyone happy. Without even knowing it. And I loved the way happiness and love can be so… simple? Don’t underestimate the power of a child. It was just very magical to see how much it affected everyone and everything. If I was to choose a religion, I would love it if god would be something that you can touch. Something like a little girl, on this earth, and not something that is far away or judges from above, you know?" There are higher quality versions of both the HAIK documentary and the concert on Aurora Fan Channel (with handle @ Marvel4), just search for: HAIK Aurora Fan Channel. It also has better subtitles I think, though I didn't watch that entire version recently. But this one you are watching does not have good subtitles (and I run a channel for translating her Norwegian interviews).
Infections Of A Different Kind is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard in my life. The lyrics make me question many things and I love when she says "if I am the world then I would I hurt all that is living". Truest words have never been said 💜
My heart is filled with so much love, the reactions are with so much care and attention, everyone who watched, all of us, weirdos or warriors, were very happy:] We love this little being of light🥺✨
I am so proud of this gem of an artist and human being ❤️ From a little country as Norway.... only 5.5 Million people... and we have Aurora, Alan Walker, Angelina Jordan, Sigrid, A-Ha, so many cool artists IMO 👍❤️ Aurora and Angelina are my 2 favorite angels from this world ❤️ They are just pure love and genuine talent 👍❤️
Great reaction. When she was in the VR rollercoaster she asked: if i throw up, can I do it there? And he put a bucket besides her. It was translated: If I ask😅
You mentioned the sound quality for an outdoor concert... This is the NRK, The Norwegian Broadcasting Company with 60 years of experience on their back. They KNOW sound and production quality so yes, they knew how to pull this off.
So, normally, I recommend that new fans go through her discography from oldest to newest - but since you have a stronger appeal toward her stripped down and more epic sounds, def stick to some of her live stuff for a little while - but do check her albums because all of her music is amazing even if you don't mesh with it entirely. Aurora tends to have multiple versions of her songs - the studio versions being really polished and produced (and gorgeous) while her live versions are either stripped down or more epic in some way. I highly recommend: AURORA - Live in Nidarosdomen [Full concert] - Video ID: XXVwFvkNTEg (posted 6 years ago) - Aurora was 19 years old here. Still a little green but already a mesmerizing performer. You already reacted to one song from this concert. Aurora: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert - Video ID: evBgLWQwAFA (posted 8 years ago) Mini-concert. acoustical. She's 19 here as well. Aurora - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) - Video ID: P_XguuxLo10 (posted 5 years ago) - Mini-concert. this one is probably my favorite. The sounds they played around with for the songs in this one are so different than anything else they've done... giving it a tribal feel. I think you'll dig it. Aurora - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) - Video ID: gWa68W9sUC4 (posted 4 years ago) Mini-concert. this is a different one! KEXP had her on again for another mini-concert. Aurora - Full performance (Live at The Current) - Video ID: Ti1Iae6AcaU (posted 3 years ago) Mini-concert. This version of It Happened Quiet gives me chills every time. AURORA - Exhale Inhale (Live Performance) - Video ID: hJcIVes-6r4 (posted 1 year ago) since none of the above include her newer music, I wanted to recommend this one that I think you might like. Her music has taken a more pop/mainstream feel in her most recent album/singles (still worth checking out!!!) ... but this one sounds more like her older music. Plus, its a beautiful eco-awareness song!
Thank you! Infections of a different kind . last song here... AURoRA wrote it after travelling. In an airport she saw a little girl totally immersed and content in her own world, while here parents being stressed and all people around were acting out. So be "GOD" in a shape of a girl... ;) We can find GOD in many places and faces ;)
If you watch her early documentary, "Nothing is Eternal." That version of "Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1" is such a very different take on the song, if you heard the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert version first, it put a very different emotion on it.
Nice reaction👍 Sounds like you have a cool job😊 I like that you’re honest about liking a song, otherwise it would be a boring reaction video😉 “The River” After the single's release, Aurora explained: "It's quite a happy song… it's been a while since I've had a joyful song so it feels very nice. It was inspired by something quite sad as I looked at the suicide rates on this planet and apparently 73% of them were men and then I thought, why is that the case?” “Infections of a Different Kind” "One night I wrote a song in my dreams. It was the title track from my album Infections of a Different Kind - Step 1. I woke up in the middle of the night and went down to my piano. I pushed the record button on my phone and played the melody. And then I went to bed again." Aurora isn’t a religious person, but she’s very interested in it, especially Greek mythology (which her latest album, released in January 2022, was inspired by) Looking forward to the last part❤️
the 'SiriusXM Coffee House' version of 'the river' might be more your thing. acoustic live version, audio only. there is also a version with the bergen philharmonics. as an media artist i have some projects in the fields of 'digital twins', i'm also interested in logistic and political economic models. thanks for letting me know about your job.
I'd LOVE if you did a 3 part on her entire full concert performance Live at the Nidarosdomen. That's the one in the Cathedral ua-cam.com/video/XXVwFvkNTEg/v-deo.html
I highly recommend the high quality version, just search for: Nidarosdomen Aurora Fan Channel I keep recommending Nidarosdomen and HAIK from this Aurora Fan Channel, and people might find it suspect, but it is NOT my channel, and the videos are not monetized, so I make no profit from these recommendations. I just want people to discover these high quality versions, because they are fairly recent, so people won't easily find them over the old versions with many more views. Just try and watch the beginning of the video and judge the quality for yourself.
You should check out the official music video for "The River" at some point. It's very creative, and who knows, maybe it will grow on you. I don't like the pop genre either, but it never even occurred to me that "The River" might be considered pop. She has some poppy songs, but I don't think that's one of them. But it's all very subjective. 🤷♂️
I dont think anyone would not like you because you have a different preference in music. Someone like slow and emotional and others like pop and dancy or maybe both. If there is anything Aurora stands for the most is being kind and spread love, not hate. ❤ so don't worry if there are any fans of Aurora they know not to spread hate❤
I love pop when the lyrics are good. I hate empty lyrics for the majority of the time, which is often prominent in pop. There are some exceptions like when the instrumental has an amazing groove or is orchestral etc. My favorite artists are Aurora, Ren and BTS. Least favorite genre is country.
I think doing this in parts has cost you a good few views , only my opinion and observation. As for talking over the video , your not to bad but sometimes you keep talking over the conversation in the video and yes i can read the subtitles , just in case you were going to mention them Lol
... dont underrate facial expression.. says a lot more than word.. who often is wrong concerning Auroras art. The minituers are all ower Bergen, but you have to look reel close...because they are so small. Its also a book with pictures of them

My God ,that last song ,the performance she gave us is beyond words.....
Those woods of the concert are the very same Aurora played in as a child.
That is so cool!!!

that performance of Infections of a Different Kind is just unreal. Spiritual and hopeful and questioning and reverent all at once.

She has got you now Will.
Lyseklosterskov in Os is part of the northernmost rainforest on earth, it rains approx. 173 hours per year. in English Bright monastery forest in Oz.
..173 days..?
173 hrs per year seems wayyy to little. Don't think anyplace near Bergen has that little rain...?
@@erik5820 I'm sure he meant 173 days per year.

Christine works for Norway's NRK TV and Radio Station. Aurora knows her through previous interviews.

Don't apologise for liking Infections of a Different Kind. It is one of Aurora's most powerful songs. It makes me cry every time I hear it.

on the recording sound, i think they are taking the audio straight from the board, to eliminate the outside sound influence.
