Nightmare to Nirvana - John Deere 9770 STS

- We fired up the 9770 and hooked it up to the 612C corn head and take them to the field for the first time! We are living the dream. Dad was anxious to run the combine so he knew he made a good choice, and he did! We've come a long way since I started this channel 10 years ago. At the time, we were dreaming of running a 9770. In 2014 we transitioned from dairy to beef and crops. It was a scary time and the transition was messy, as we weren't even sure if we were going to be inheriting the farms, or if they were going to be split and sold. We ended up with the right to purchase the farms at a discounted price for our work over the years (especially Mom & Dad's) through the estate from my Grandfather's WIll. We started getting offers to rent land and have expanded our operation from over 700 acres to over 1,200 with intentions to continue to grow. These are the best years of our lives!

Summer Schedule
Expect a new video every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday! (Schedule May Vary)
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a UA-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
I don't know who's happier - Rocket when he sees Hannah, or Travis trying out the 9770. I'm not sure I want to see Travis wag his tail though.
Laughed way harder then i should
New combine, new fiancee, new prospects for the future... life is good! Congrats! OL J R :)
It was nice to hear your Brother say he likes the new Combine.
I was excited for this video, but I was honestly more excited for you guys. Seeing the smiles on your faces and listening to Travis talk about it, you can tell just how long you all have waited for this moment. Sure, the 9510 did you well, but it was well time for an uograde, and i think this video just shows how many new doors you unlocked with this milestone (you were literally harvesting twice as much, and possibly faster too, than with the 9510). Congrats on the "new" combine! Looking forward to all the videos to come!
Thanks!!!
@@HowFarmsWork how many Engine and separator hours on it?
That joy on Travis' face when he was looking up towards the cab was sooooo uncharacteristic ..... :--------) .... Mikey likes it !
I don’t know why, but I like the look of that light on the corn head in the dusty night!
Honestly the smile on Travis' face at 6:30 says it all. Love to see how much of a gamechanger this thing is for your farm, i am sure it'll serve you well...
The smile on Travis's face @6:30
By far the most cinematic farm ever 😎👍
Love the new combine .
...this video has really beautiful night drone footage!!! I know it's a year old but for some reason I missed it....
All those happy faces thanks to mum ......
watching the new combine fire up for the first time is just as exciting for me/us than you guys using it. makes your heart bit a little more than normal^^
Happy for everyone
I'm so happy for you all thanks for sharing the video. glad to see you guys get a major upgrade
Fun to see your alls smile from ear to ear. Looks like a good upgrade and many future years of use. Thanks for the update!
Nice!!! Always great feeling when the farm gets a new piece of equipment. You guys all look happy! great drone footage. Good job explaining things Travis. Have fun be safe guys.
Great video... powerful shots... Also, I like it when you all talk among yourselves whenever possible, because it feels like an inside view.
Hey Ryan thanks for the great video and update on the combine, I am glad it is doing great for you guys 👍
I'm super excited for you guys. Hope you get many many years out the new combine! Let the good times roll!!
Love seeing family farming operations like this succed. Sure do miss my days on the farm. Congrats on the upgrade!!
It was fun to see and hear how excited everyone was when you tried out the new combine!
When things go right, you forget those frustrating days...Love this
Man I’m glad to see you guys working together as a family to keep the farm going.
What a great video! You, your Dad, and Travis are giddy with excitement. Congratulations on the new to you combine.
The drone shot of the combine lit up at night is how I would imagine what harvest back in 2010 would've looked like if we had drones. Imagine, that machine at its new home right off the factory floor. Cool shot for sure and brought back alot of memories from when I was a kid watching our 9500 cruise along in corn as the sun set.
New equipment is always exciting! Even when it’s not brand new or anything. Congrats!
It's good to see you all having success and knowing you (Dad) made a good decision for the future of your farms. Cheers to seeing many more videos of the new2u combine!
Nothing like watching How Farms Work on a cold Sunday afternoon. Thanks for your hard work. Be safe.
Congratulations to you all. Nice to watch you all. Sometimes the light does come at the end of the tunnel 👍
Congrats on your new combine Kuster family! It’s been a long time coming but well worth it. Wishing you many more bountiful harvests in your future! Thanks for the videos.
Congratulations 🍾 on the new to y’all combine. That’s beautiful country y’all farm. Have a great harvest.
Your talent with the drone as well as editing amazes me…Great to see the new equipment cut down your work load. Awesome to see Hannah make an appearance as well. Blessings
Nice to see the whole family excited about the combine.
Very impressed with the 9770. The corn sample is like butter. Looks like a great upgrade!
Super happy you got to break in the newer combine and getting good yeilds even with the down corn
Great awesome video Ryan , Travis , your dad . Rocket , Melvin , nice to read about the farm expanding and growing and getting all the stuff resolved and you and Travis taking over the farm
Better get cracking keeping up with that combine now
Nice to be happy and feel good about a new purchase! Congrats!
I am glad you like JD 9770 STS combine
It never ceases to amaze me how a combine works. The crop goes in one end and seconds later corn comes out the other. Your videos are remarkable. I'm always looking for the next one. I especially liked the explanation of how your family came into being. I hope to meet you sometime when I travel to Wisconsin.
That first shot of Travis, where he was taking to you when you were in the grain car tractor: Talk about a billion dollar smile. That says it all on what he thinks. And wow on the capacity there in the new combine - 3 dumps and that monster cart is full...and that monster cart equals a semi load. And great drone shots as always.
Fantastic combine. That will serve your family well for many years. Great first start. Brilliant drone work as usual. Take care you and your family. See you next time.
Awesome and thanks. Continued success, all of you!
Thanks, Ryan! Rocket sees Hannah is a "Keeper" too! The "New" combine is awesome! Y'all's Dad is sure alright letting you boys drive so much!
Congratulations, one of the most desirable combines out there. That's what the farm I help at wants some day. 9600 is what they run now.
Definitely in the big league with the new combine and that big Brent bin. Look forward to seeing what you do with it next season, as well as how you farm through your cold winter.
Very cool and relaxing video. Tillage work is probably my favorite kind of videos. Keep it up!
I was excited to see what you guys got when your dad posted on Instagram. Im excited and happy for you guys on the new combine. That will be a great upgrade. The old one served it’s purpose very well but it was time for an update.
I'm so excited for you guys 🎊 this is my thrit time watching this video congratulations👍💪🙏
Now its time to change all those dim yellow lights to led 😉 you'll love it
Congrats on the awesome purchase guys
Any upgrade brings joy to the Farm, more so on an farm that lacks Bodies to put in the machines, short on storage and alot going on in general.
It costs a pretty penny, but time and fuel saved on cart chasing the combine and overall TIME it takes to harvest has no price on it. Capacity can save your crop in bad years too.
I'm glad to see Kuster's smile in the field. 👍
I remember these machines when hey came out we had 6 of um( trade every year) and they are some corn eatin machines. This years 780 is no joke but I really liked this series. Congrats on the new machine👍
Congrats, y'all have certainly come a long way and hit a milestone goal. YOU have had one heck of an exciting, busy, and full year!! May the last ten years be indicative of your next forty!!!!!!
That's a real good upgrade. Glad you got a bubble maker on top. Now you and Hannah can make bubbles together as you harvest.
12 rows, dads was 1959 JD95 two row ,,nice to see the two of you working with dad, it did not go that way with my brothers and dad, just differences in dispositions,,,but dad was able to retire earlier lived to be 97 and my brothers and me moved on to success lives,,,your channel brings back memories and I can still feel and smell the fall harvest of corn,,be safe
VERY PLEASED TO SEE YOU GUYS HAPPY , THAT IS A NICE COMBINE MAKING YOU GUYS JOB OF HARVESTING MORE QUICKLY 😀, KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS
Awesome guys glad to see the new combine running very well
That new combine is going to really help you guys alot . You guys definitely deserve a newer larger machine . Those 70 series machines are really good and are built tough . We just received our new s790 on tracks and rd 45 draper head last Friday. Due to rain and wet weather we finished corn before beans . Now it's just go time for beans before it snows . Glad the new combine is working out its nice to see you guys pumped to harvest with it . Great video keep up the good work!
Congratulations on the new combine
Glad you guys got the combine rolling, fun to watch!
I support the 8820 idea lol. I love that old iron, but congrats on your upgrade...so happy you stayed green!!!
That combine is in great condition nice purchase
I’m glad you upgraded, now you need a drive over auger for losing the bins or a pit and leg. Two trucks with a slip seat driver, grain cart and combine and your productivity just shot through the roof!
Its always nice to see happy farmers
Awesome drone footage! Your video angles and editing are on point. Always enjoy your videos!
Thanks!
Congrats on the "new" combine! The 9070 series were good machines. They had most of the bugs worked out by this series of the 9000s. Just keep a keen eye on the hydraulic hoses around the engine compartment. They were known to have fire issues due to ruptured hoses. I mean this with all the 9000 series combines.
Best of luck with new machine . Hope ye get many years of good service very clean machine 👍
This combine is awesome!👍👍 that's a huge improvement for you😉👍
Awesome video, your drone shots are one of the best out there👍👍
Glad your purchase is going well. Cole looks to be having a not so good used combine experience.
Congratulations Kusters! Glad you have new equipment of the holidays/harvest.
Outstanding video, excellent views for which the Yellow/Green Gang should give you anything you want!!!
Well done Mr. Artfully Done...Great Job Ryan...
Glad you got it running. Looks good
Good to see Travis happy about the combine lol, all of you really, earned it. :-)
Good on you guys! Can't wait to watch the farm keep growing
You're going to love that machine. We've pushed a 2011 9770 for nearly a decade now. We're preparing to add one instead of replace at this point because the machine has been an absolute gem for us. Clinic/maintain it right and it will take care of you.
Happy 😊 your first day whet well.Hope the combine makes you lots of money 💰. Oh yes, are you watching Corn Star 🌟?? Hope they get their machine 😉 working better too. Thanks for taking us on the first rounds in the field.
Wish you and family good luck on the new combine. Need new lights lol! Nice to see Hanna in video
Glad to see a combine that still throws some smoke😁
What a beast. We run a 9870 and I'm always impressed with how it just eats. We were running 7.5+ mph in the dryland just to keep the rotor full. Main thing that sucks is filling it up every day, It's insane how much fuel your burn running those machines all day.
Very nice combine tremendous capacity. Excellent drone work👍
Looks like the new tool works great. I hope you are able to keep farming in this CRAZY economy.
Now question is did your bro whack his thumb 👍🤔❓. 😁😆. Nice work with the new kit. Stay safe 🏴 👍 👌
Awesome...beautiful piece of machinery...so happy for the family😃😃👍🏻🥃...and best of all no problems😃😃
Nice! Great upgrade and improvements to the farm
I'm happy for you guys. The 9770 is a good machine
That’s a nice clean machine. I definitely see a second semi in the works before next fall, and or possibly even a higher horsed tractor for that cart
What a great video , best of luck with the new combine
Have fun with the new to you combine great purchase
Big milestone. Been watching since the beginning. Way to grow.
Very nice, and no troubles ( unlike another farmer who recently purchased a combine)
You'l love it.
I love mine.
Don't be afraid of the electronics. They have given me no trouble. When everything is calibrated properly they are your friend.
Been watching your vids from when you had the 9410 major upgrade!
Wish you all the best with the new combine ! Nice video also . And Hanna looks great with those glasses -). Greetings from Belgium
Great work Ryan. Keep up the work. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Great to hear she runs without issues on the first time out with you guys. Can't wait to see how long harvest takes next year. I know you guys have been beating into your preferred start times for harvest getting the last cut of hay done the past couple of years. So if this will cut down your harvest window to get it all in, it is a win for sure. Also looks like there isn't as much of the fines getting into the hopper as well. That should help with accounting for pay off when you aren't dinged as much for what does make it. Next up, purchasing a bean head before next fall.
Also, should say that the corn head seems to be in good shape as well. Congrats on the good find for both of those things.
What a major improvement to your farm congrats
i comment very very rare but i had to .....this vid is awesome im rly glad to see your new combine in action aswell as happy faces and comments from your dad and brother.Ty for awesome vid and congratz on new machinery on your farm as always a pleasure to watch you evolve from early days.
