From Black Friday to the Black Tusk - Timeline || Story / Lore || The Division 2

- In this video I want to run through the timeline of the full Division story, up until the point that the Black Tusk launch their full invasion of the US capitol.
I have noted some confusion in regards to the story, so I’m using this opportunity to round up the story, as a sort of a recap piece, but also to show how The Division 1, set in New York City, crosses over with The Division 2, in Washington DC.

I read somewhere that they started burying coronavirus victims in mass graves in New York. This shit is getting too real
I have to agree with that it doesn't make sense that the second wave wouldn't be warned of rogue agents. But what is more startling is that Isac has something called rogue protocol. That means that it was planned or at least expected. New protocols don't just pop up out of nowhere.
Yeah this has bugged me since day one. Why would it be built in?
NGN also why not just broadcast the rouge’s location so they can get killed or better yet shutdown so the tech can’t be used or just self destruct and hope the rouge is wearing the watch so they die saving the problem of having agents risk their lives to kill the rouge.
In case of government corruption
That's a good point. What particular criteria has to be met for ISAC to designate an agent "rogue", and why aren't there failsafe measures in place to cripple or eliminate rogues remotely such as self-destruct devices in their equipment and watch?
Allowing a Rogue Agent to keep their gear and watch seems counter-intuitive in almost all ways save easily identifying a rogue, and identifying a rogue's corpse would be easy as "missing hand, SHD tech shrapnel in the corpse".
Maybe there's a point to ISAC "not being as smart as his creator thinks he is", or perhaps ISAC was specifically created to function as he does by an entity that has reasons for allowing Rogue Agents to exist and continue to use SHD tech. After all, if Parnell didn't have any way to access ISAC he couldn't have created ANNA for the Rogue Network.

Due to recent announcements, we now know the answer to the question about the rogue Division agents. Personally, I'm excited. March 3rd 2020.
I cant wait for more lore videos, just as excited for that as i am to play warlords!

@@NGN There has been some Post-Invsaion Audio logs added into the game recently through the Epsidoe updates. Episode 2 added the Henry Hayes (found inside Campus Settlement with all avaliable once max upgraded), Odessa Sawyer (found around the buildings near Theater Settlement) and Ridgeway (found in Lincoln Memorial, Air & Space Museum, and Capitol Building) (still missing 1 for Ridgeway but I plan to back track to see if it is in early areas of the Air & Space Museum.)

As for the apparent continuity error between the Activation of the Second Wave and their investigation as to what happened to the First Wave, my guess is that President Waller did not want to spread the word and inevitably cause any panic between Second Wave Agents that their fellow comrades went Rogue.
I dunno, a dumb idea, sure, but it's possible.

I second this theory. It's pretty much damage control on the Executive branch so that Second Wave Agents won't think of going rogue as well.
My theory is this: it was intentionally not mentioned to avoid more agents going rogue. If you tell the 2nd wave before they go in, they start asking questions before they see the situation in the ground. "Why did the 1st wave go rogue? How bad was it? What would I have done in the same situation?" The 2nd wave would have seen things differently and may have developed sympathies towards the 1st wave. No, better to tell them to investigate. Let the 2nd wave find the evidence for themselves and come to their own conclusions about Keener and the 1st wave. With their feet on the ground and neck deep in it, it's more likely they'll see the rogues as traitors and psychos rather than soldiers who were traumatized and broken by the situation they were stuck in. Not saying I agree with the rogues but things look very different in a briefing folder than they do on the street while fighting pyromaniac service worker.
@@1buddahead I'd say that the rogues lost all sympathy for me when they started participating in atrocities at the head of the Cleaners and Rikers in New York.
Dragov and Conley are particular examples of rogues undeserving of sympathy due to their clear regard for ethical standards of engagement and how they operate no better than the glorified cult leaders they replaced at the head of their respective gangs. Conley participated in and assisted with literally burning innocent people alive. Dragov counts the Rikers as family and prioritizes their wellbeing despite the vile acts they inflict upon others.
The closest of the rogues I can come to sympathizing with is Parnell, and that's mostly because he's a gullible conspiracy sheep who may have a point about corruption but was too easily manipulated by Keener and died pointlessly, possibly even serving to preserve the conspiracy that cost him one of his family members in an ironic twist of fate.

Dragov i mean i see your point about him but after all he did acted on his morals, what I mean is that he was the one that let them out basically but he didn’t want to let them die there since in his eyes it would have been bad but yeah I guess he isn’t no better then the person he replaced
And about Parnell yeah it is I guess sad in a way like he probably didn’t want to become rogue but became easily manipulated by keener since keener basically fueled Parnell’s distrust about the government and how it was corrupted which he was probably right about
Was late to the party of the 1st division game, I got it 2 years later after its release, was not interested in the story at first but after finding your channel a year ago you know how to keep the story of this game engaging and interesting, what im trying to say is your videos are great and informative, it gets me really hooked to the game, so thanks man, big fan

One correction: Ridgeway dubbed himself General after he was sprung from jail by the rest of the Blue Suns err True Sons. Before that he was still a Colonel.

@@deathdisclover999 Ridgeway wanted nothing more than to take DC for himself. Ridgeway is a case study in deflection-- he called those who were infected degenerates, but it is he and his so called True Sons who committed atrocities against the infected and unarmed citizens

About the last part:
it is still a mystery.
my best Theory at the moment is, that maybe the information should not be distributed digitally.
and since the commander of the second wave was killed in Div1, nobody knows outside from the government.
My own theory is that with Black Tusk handing off equipment to the LMB ( one of the comics has this) and Arron Keener having the ability to scramble his own SHD signals in NYC, it would not be beyond his ability to blank things off from DC, like Louis Chang and most of the second wave in NYC being killed by the LMB, possibly using BT Gear.

There's a LOT of unknowns as far as the first wave going rogue, the current hunt for rogue agents in DC in Season 1, and the various revelations we discover at the end of Warlords of New York.
The Black Tusk have the backing of some major players, and I wouldn't be surprised if these major players are pitting the SHD against Black Tusk and the Rogue Agents as a third wild card for some unknown purpose. Pawns on the board to be discarded at a whim for the sake of the long game, as it were. Keener is smart, but I can see how his actions in the series up until the final story mission of Warlords could have been the product of some bigger scheme by either a domestic or foreign government or organization. This is even more plausible if the Secret Service has been compromised, as you mention is possible due to the mysterious nature of the Vice President's suicide and leading up to Speaker Ellis being sworn in, Ellis having been confirmed to be working with Black Tusk.
Videos like this that stitch the whole story together are great, keep up the good work.
Also the continuity error of the second waves activation simple could be that Ellis never passed on the information or that the black tusk shut down the S.H.D network to cripple communications to NY that's the best I've got

On to the case of 1st wave going rogue and nobody informing New York command, I think it was because there was no other choice and the idea that you could go rogue so easily didn't need to be instilled into the next waves, plus it all seemed to be on "Didn't ask, don't tell basis"

I believe that when the it was stated that Waller knew what happened and he should read his history books. it meant that most of them were wiped out due to not having any support. This happens real world in almost every major conflict at some point. This also happens in a few of Tom Clancy's books, Clear and Present Danger in particular.

Even though i Know the lore of the games, you somehow manage to make me feel like this is brand new every time.
I know I am late to the party but here are my 2 cents and someone may have already drawn this conclusion.
The 2nd wave DIV Commander was briefed on the rogue agents and was most likely waiting to get to the Base of Operations and brief the whole 2nd wave so they could organize and plan a strategy on how to counter the Rogue agents better. Which leads to another reason they were taken out. The first wave proved small numbers cut off from support could be defeated so the second wave needed to be crippled to so that they wouldn’t be as much as a threat.

I think they weren't 100% sure and thought that they didn't want Division Agents to know that going rouge was an "option".
In asense but by doctrine the Division is supposed to act in rogue manner. What I mean by that is they are meant to restore order in less then conventional means with no clear oversight over their operations. They serve the federal government true but the way they operate is beyond normal oversight.
Always enjoy your vids. One thing I haven't seen is where were we at the start of Div2? I know it was on the coast and I know we left the 1 division agent and a jtf of some sort to fight the Black Tusk hovercraft, but I don't remember a location.
Agent Sanders was the one left behind. She made it to DC and was briefly seen in the endgame content. I for sure was glad to see that she made it and still in the fight. And I agree with you that I want to know where that was. I wanted to explore the area but they rush you through it so fast. You should read all the books. Collapse of New York. Broken Dawn. Extremis Mails. The World of Tom Clancy's The Division. That's if you haven't read them already. Such a great experience to expand on the story as a whole. Especially what in the timeline happened between NYC and DC.

I think Ridgeway was always a major, still in charge of at least one section of DC, up until he made the true suns. That was when he self appointed himself into a General. A few comm units have a few civilians call him major.
Sorry to be THAT GUY. But Ridgeway was nevera general when he was part of the JTF. He was a Colonel in the Maryland Homeland Security and was drafted in as a JTF Colonel. After his eacape from prison, he founded the True Sons and gave himself the title of General. Just a little detail is all. (Source from the car dash cam. The doctor clearly adresses him as Colonel.)
There are audio logs that state that he self-promoted himself as well. I think in the prision mission.

One more thing you should consider is the survival game mode in the original division. Players were tasked with finding experimental antivirals that had been lost somewhere in the Darkzone. Could this be connected to the supposed cure that President Ellis had the location of? Also, where does it fit in the Division timeline? It had to be during the winter due to the extreme blizzard that blew into Manhattan. But was it before Ellis discovered the cure or after? (Also there were hunters in survival so could they also be connected to the Black Tusk? What if they were looking for the experimental antivirals as well?)

It's not about the death, it's about the fear. Even without Mass death, the fear of contamination is just as strong and can still lead to infrastructure failure. The early events of division lore is starting to line up with real life America. I give it a year... Maybe 6 months before martial law hits. My only hope is that with such I wide spread gaming community, people won't be so stupid as to form groups like the hyenas. It'll just be down between Democratic rule, autocratic rule, and communistic rule because all give viable means of survival

The problem here for me is the the timeline between the first and second wave, only a month? 3 months sound more believable . I do not think either in only a few month DC is covered by plants.

I guess someone already thought of this but it's likely that they kept it a secret to make sure no other agents go rouge. If they were aware that the half measures involved then it would put doubt in the minds of the other agents. But this doesn't make sense if you consider that the media would have reported this. Then again, if you take into account of the martial law then the media would have been restricted with information provided to them.
It's a tricky questions I agree, i don't think that there is a solid answer.

President Waller said it himself "They have the most advanced tech in the US arsenal...." he most likely fell into the trap that a lot of commanders fall into. They think the shiny gear will do it all and fail to realize that you still need men and women with boots on the ground and the proper support to make those shiny toys work. He threw them into a hot zone with no logistical support and he wonders why he was losing agents and having them go rogue?

Serina Hadjadj yes and no. Yes if absolutely zero research is done to find a cure. No with the current death rate and amount of research going into finding a cure. I will admit I’m no doctor or even a med student but that’s what seems reasonable to me. However there are 2 more possibilities. 1. The virus was man made and released to kill older people with weaker immune systems as a minor deterrent for overpopulation in China. 2. Man made and released specifically for finding a cure which in return will make someone somewhere billions. You’re crazy if ppl think cures are free. Also @FBI if you’re reading this suck my dick

@@Derr1ck_yt Virus is not man made. There have been many examples of other viruses which have been lethal or potentially dangerous, Ebola, H1N1, SARS, MERS. All the result of evolution. Also FINDING a cure is not profitable in the least, research is incredibly expensive and has no guarantee of arriving at a solution/cure.
@@aries4378 Yeah, the real smallpox is much, much worse. Its only weakness is that we have the vaccine, and people aren't typically vaccinated against it anymore, or neglect the booster shot.
It probably exists in the wild, and might rear its head when the healthcare system drops its guard to concentrate on CoV. It certainly exists in tier-4 bioprotection labs, it might also exist outside Russia and USA. It could be cultivated in China or Iran or DPRK, some sample might have been stolen during the collapse of USSR. Perhaps it's a good thing corona is fucking us, because when pox shows up again, we would be more mentally prepared to face it.

Just here trying to figure out how its gonna go down because we already have protests in Chicago.
My guess on why the information about the rogue agents never made it to the SHD in NYC: Since the organization only truly answers to the sitting president... and itself, then if the organization doesn't share the info, then the president is the only other official avenue of communication. If the SHD is sabotaging itself (#black_tusk_is_empoyed_by_shd) then it makes sense that the SHD purposefully kept the info from its own people, and the president never followed-up on the issue himself.
We already know at least one of the presidents was a traitor. The first two were assassinated early. With this much disruption in the command chain, the SHD sort of becomes the de-facto 'head of state' even though it doesn't officially hold the title.
I wouldn't be surprised if the first president did the 'half measure' on advice from the SHD itself, presumably under the excuse: "All activated agents stop being clandestine."
