It’s tough to make any categorical claims until teams play someone other than themselves, but this FSU defense looks deep.
On the line, FSU has guys like Lyons, Kelly, Sampson, Lolohea, Aaron Hester, and Tomiwa Durojaiye behind MJJ, Farmer, Jackson, and Payton.
LBs were a weakness in the offseason, but Cam Riley, Blake Nichelson, Juice Cryer, and Shawn Murphy have all improved from the spring and are all capable of lining up next to DJ Lundy in Fuller’s 4-2-5.
In the secondary, guys like Earl Little Jr., Duke Cooper, and Devonte Brown have flashed in camp, and guys like Kevin Knowles, Quindarrius Jones, and to a slightly lesser degree Conrad Hussey have all taken a step forward. Plus, young guys like Ricky Knight and Charles Lester look poised to provide developmental snaps in games with large margins. And as you mentioned, that’s on top of AZ Thomas, Fentrell Cypress, and Shy Brown locking down both corners as well as the deep third of the field.
Norvell and Fuller can roll waves of guys at offenses without significant drop-off and thereby keep the starters fresh in the fourth quarter while also keeping guys healthy into the back-half of the season. Or at least that’s the hope.
The 2024 FSU team will go as far as the defense takes them. And this defense looks poised to be a reliable difference maker against most of the opponents that FSU will face.

If this defense can stay pretty healthy it should be top 5.. It should have at least 7 guys go in the first three rounds..

Darrell Jackson is too tall for Defensive Tackle....i wish he was an OL tackle. Athletic, tall, long arms.... he's going to lose money down the road
