One of the legendary idol groups Shinhwa have fun stories of being carried by their managers to their schedules because they drank too much the night before. In the beginning of VApp, gdragon wanted to drink in front of the camera while chatting with fans but staff didnt allow it. Now idols do it freely on dingo, and other online channels. Korean celebrities will casually mention that they are alcoholic and that just means they like drinking.. and that they drink alone sometimes.
The good thing about it is girls do it too. In Girl's Generation, Sunny is known to love alcohol but the others have mentioned that they drink more than Sunny lately. SISTAR, Girls Day and other older girl groups talk freely about their drinking habits too. It's more taboo to talk about loving alcohol in the west than in South Korea.
