I'm always surprised by how allied players so rarely either pick ml20s, b4s, or at least some sort of offmap strike. Allies have the easiest options to utterly shut down lefhs, usf in particular can self spot and time on target for guaranteed destruction on demand and b4s will actually destroy the gun rather than just get a decrew with an overflight spot. The fact that allied have built in non doctrine overflight on usf should make it very likely to have at least one guy with a lefh hardcounter but I'd say the majority of allied players these days just pick commanders with the superior combat troop options or rocket artillery these days. Sad thing is, you only need one out of 4 to have picked a hard counter option which could have been arranged with a simple "hey, does anyone else want to go anti lefh?" at the start of the match. There isn't enough basic communication in matches.
ML20 just loses to LEFH and B4 requires you to be very lucky or your opponent is bad enough to let you build B4 close to front line. Problem is every commander the Allies got that deals with LEFH is either bad , can’t do the job properly or requires a huge munition sink. For example the ISU commander is great but can’t spot and is map dependent. British commando can do the spot+bombing with like 300+ munitions on a faction that’s already bad and relies on upgrades to fight properly. Infantry company is in the same situation as commandos. Yes there are options but you would have to shoot yourself in the foot first by picking commanders that doesn’t have abilities the Allies normally relies on to win team games. Whilst a lot of meta Axis commander had either vision tool or bombing strike. Making it significantly easier to deal with a threat that is lesser in the first place. LEFH itself is also a soft counter to Allied arty. I wouldn’t say the LEFH is OP, it’s just annoying af. Especially since Allies usually needs to lock in a commander very early for pathfinders/guards and the Axis can wait and see if it’s safe to LEFH or not.
@@EstellammaSS B4s are pretty great atm and counterattack is a great commander that also can self spot for the b4. Infantry kills the gun for 180, armor for 200, and recon decrews for 110. Soviets destroy the gun for 180 with the 152mm or ptab strike and 200 for the precision bombing. Incendiary decrews for 120. Combined arms can self spot and kill the gun. There are a lot of good commanders with one of these out a recon option. The wehr requires either railway for 200 or heavy for 250 to destroy the gun. Luftwaffe supply is the only wehr commander who can self spot and kill the gun at 290 munis. Uk advanced emplacement kills the gun for 200 and special weapons for 250 while commando can self spot and destroy the gun at the costliest price of 130 for the shell and spot and 250 for the largest offmap in the game. Okw feuersturn can kill a gun for 200 and scavengecan potentially four 180 but neither can self spot. Allied anti artillery options are easier to get together than the axis ones if it wasn't for how often allied players take commanders for doctrine exclusive special units.
They're a doctrinal unit available with some commanders. Artillery tend to miss 4 out of 5 every shots they make, but when they do hit something it wipes the squad or sends the tank back to repairs.
