I am dating a visually impaired girl. I feel quite proud to stand by her hands down. She is a gorgeous person inside and out regardless if she can partially see and requires a cane. I agree dating her has also opened my eyes to the community more. I feel as though there is a purpose for this... which I may never know... but I am glad to be able to date this girl.... we'll see where things end up for us. Thank you for your advice and view points!!!
Just found your channel today! Thank you so much. I am legally blind but I have a lot of sight and perfect color vision. I am married (47 years) and I am an artist, mom to four and Grandma to 7. My eyes don't look normal - they move and cross and I look very close at my work. I've been blessed to be surrounded by a wonderful husband and family. After 67 years, rude people still bother me. I am just buying my first cane to help with stability-a short wood red and white cane. That is how I found you.
You and Ethan reminded me so much of me and my boyfriend (we're both sighted), he's very shy and I'm very talkative and also expect more and more words from anything he says, so I truly appreciate Ethan making an effort for your viewers. I don't think he's an angel for marrying you or vice versa, I think you're perfect for each other. Love is about patience and understanding, I think you guys got both!!
Thank you for such a sweet comment! I do agree that we are perfect for each other, kind of like a puzzle piece that just fits together. And thank you for appreciating Ethan‘s effort in this video. I don’t think many people realize just how much courage it took for him to do this
Hey guys! Thanks so much for the video, i can relate to so many things with my own relationship. My gf of 2 years is almost blind (i have no sight issues) and at the end of the day we live 95% like other "normal" couples. I can't put words on how much i love her. She is the women of my life... I will propose to her in the upcoming weeks, just waiting for the ring to be finally ready 😁
I just got home (nearly 11 pm here, in Germany) and saw you'd uploaded and got excited. Also been married two years now! :) Don't know why I got excited about that! :D
I did a UA-cam search and found your video among many and THANK YOU (all caps)! I just started a relationship with a sight-impaired woman I haven't seen in 15 years. She was interested in me, back then, but I was reluctant to start a relationship because I'd just finished raising two sons with sickle cell disease and I didn't think I was up to the task to transition to an intimate relationship with someone with a disability. Almost a month ago, now, we found each other again through a phone personal ad! We didn't recognize each other until I gave my real name with my number on a second message to connect. This time, she stated, "I'm not going to lose you again", and she wanted to pick up where we left off, 15 years ago. Unfortunately, my sons both passed away 10 and 11 years ago, respectively, and a lot has happened in the 15 years since she and I last encountered. I'm "rested" from raising my sons and have have experienced things to better equip me than 15 years ago like finish college and grad school for better employment in my soon-to-be sixties. We were able to quickly become partners because of our age and history of knowing each other We both are very communicative and candid, wasting no time getting through the relationship "preliminaries!" I have the spiritual gift of discernment and ask tons of questions, while her sight impairment has enhanced her listening skills, tremendously, allowing her to "read" people precisely. She lost her sight completely by her 30s, so she is not as independent as Cayla, which is why I'm looking at UA-cam videos We both are people of faith and believe that it was not a mere coincidence that the Lord brought us back together. Sorry, this is so long, but your video was very helpful and I just had to share my two cents that's turned into five cents! LOL I'll be watching more of your channel, along with others! Thanks, again!
Y'all make a cute couple and I am glad he helps you like he does and accepts your vision and all the things that go with it. Hope to see this guy on future videos.
I know what you mean about being independent at home and needing help when you're out somewhere. I pretty much do everything a normal seeing person does at home and I take my stick everywhere unless my husband goes with me
Loved watching this video and you guys are so cute together! I've been visually impaired it since 2011 and while I haven't learned how to use a cane, it's very true that when you're familiar with your surroundings you can get really good for memorization. When I was going to college, I memorized where the pathways were versus the grass or I follow the groups of people because I knew that was the walkway until I got it right. I got so good at it that I remember classmates telling me I was lying about being blind since I also didn't have a cane with me. But it's just what you are familiar with really, when you don't know a surrounding and you can't tell what's under your feet or what's in front of you or you have it memorized then it's going to be more obvious that you have a vision impairment. Thank you for all the wonderful videos that you are doing!
Cayla! I love it, so happy that you convinced him to join you for a video. This was a lot of fun, I enjoyed listening and getting to know more about both of you and your relationship! Thanks for another awesome video, you truly do have an amazing channel! :-) Have a great Sunday :-) Matt
Blind to Billionaire hey buddy how's the island and how is Corey because she did a great video the other day and I think she was generally trying to help you
Hey Matt! Thank you! Sorry I’m so late responding to this comment. I’m glad you liked the video. You and Corey were a big inspiration for me to want to do this because I love the videos you two do together
Hi Cayla! I thought I commented on this video a couple weeks ago, but maybe not. Either way, it was so much fun to meet your husband and to hear the discussion! This is a great video, and it appears that many other people feel the same way. Thank you, I hope both of you are having a great weekend! Matt
Hey Matt! I thought I remember seeing a comment from you, but it still good to hear from you again. I’m glad you liked the video. You and Corey were a huge inspiration for me wanting to make this video because I love the videos that you two do together
Hi Cayla, my husband & I have been married 2 years as well. I'm legally blind, he's sighted so this video really resonated. Just a thought on the driving. We sometimes take the train to take the burden of driving off of him & we use Lyft when we go to parties so he can also drink and enjoy. 😊
Hi! Congratulations on two years of marriage! those are great ideas. Unfortunately we don’t really have any kind of public transportation where we live. And my husband doesn’t drink, so that’s never been an issue for us, but I think that’s a great idea for other couples so the sighted person doesn’t always have to be the responsible driver
Beautiful couple! That’s all I can say. Your husband is truthful, caring and very loving. He is amazing! I appreciated your great interview questions. I am engaged to my fiancée, and we often deal with some of the issues you outlined. I also have very similar visual impairment, to you. Great video!
Great video I am 54 and legally blind I am currently not in a relationship but I have two daughters and they are a great help they drive me around they read my mail when I need to know color recognition I will ask them my biggest fear the fact this is a inherited disease it is so great you have someone in your life to help you because it definitely takes patience to deal with someone who is disabled no matter what the disability is
Such a great video! As a wheelchair user, I love seeing interabled couples being represented! I realize this is off topic, but I love your thumbnails on your videos. What sort of editing do you use? As well as with your intro.
Hi! Thank you! I really love hearing from people with other disabilities who watch my videos. My husband is actually a graphic designer and made my intro for me and does my thumbnails. He uses Photoshop to do the thumbnails and made my intro with After Effects
Huge thanks for these videos. Being sighed, these have really helped give me insight into writing a visually impaired character. He is such a trooper to join in for a day!
Great video. I am sighted and married to a woman with Ushers Type II. We are going on 30 years of marriage and all of those things you mention are spot on. True, being the only driver and a one car family is the hardest thing, but we get to spend more money on bicycles. We ride tandem bikes - best thing we have ever done. Keep up the videos, they are all terrific. Can you do more on eating and cooking? Anyone here have any tips?
Thank you for this video! You two are so cute together! I really felt that when he mentioned being on vacation and describing it doesn't seem like enough or does it justice.... Though on the kind of funny side when me and my partner watch a tv and the scene is too dark and I tell him what's going on, I can't see anything he'll reply "I don't know, me either" lmao.
Thank you! LOL, that’s funny. that reminds me of a few months back there was an episode of Game of Thrones that was really dark and all of these people were talking about how they couldn’t see and didn’t know what was going on, and I was just like welcome to my life
Your experience is very much like mine. I have been married to my cited husband for 17 years. I am blind. The difference is that I have a guide dog as well. My husband is a dog lover so that helps thanks. Wonderful video!
@@CaylawithaC cool! He sounds like he’s a wonderful guy. Of course I know very well that things are not perfect in marriage. It has nothing to do with us being blind and then being cited! Keep up the good work!
I find this video that you've offloaded it interesting because like blind to billionaire is a good friend of mine and Corey you basically give insight to your marriage with your husband who is cited and that's a good thing because people need to know that blind people don't just stay blind people that it all winning streak more or less so thank you Kayla
For me, the worst thing about dating a blind person. I have strong attachments to places rather than people and my way of showing love is to share the places that are special to me with my person. It is heartbreaking that we cant have that shared experience and while I adore my person it still makes me really sad that I cannot share that deep connection and love.
Cayla, we all respect ✊🏿. I think your husband is lucky to have you because of who you are. The true disability in marriage, if any, is marrying wrong partner.
Nice video. My wife is sighted person and I am legally blind. For sure a relationship in which one person has a disability brings attention and a lot of questions, from the must simple to answer ones to someones that sometimes pass the line. People are curious and we need to educate them.
Cayla with a C Sorry for what? Is so sad knowing that out there still people with that kind of poor mentality. But I know exactly what are you going through. Keep doing your awesome job here in UA-cam. I wish the best for you both.
I've been talking to a legally blind girl for over 2 months now. She's sweet, she lives in another state. I'm going to visit her next month, I'm excited
Thank you for this video. Very inspiring. I met a very nice blind woman. We both like each other. I'm in a very tight knit community. There will be a lot of stares and attention but i don't really care.
Hi Cayla, you're such a pretty soul...🥰 I'm 19 and from India. I've boyfriend with RP, I do love him a lot, we're together from last two years... He's also 19 and has lost 30-35% of his vision till now. Though I'm a little worried about his future vision and about our future baby cause it's a genetic problem... For this kind of uncertainties my parents are not totally supporting me to be with him. His parents are normal, they don't have this disease but his great grandpa had this problem... His cousins and family members are not going through this but one of his aunt has this and she has lost her night vision at the approx age of 40-50. I hope nothing will be wrong with us... You guys are so adorable together wish you a happy married life... 🥰❤
Hi! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I understand you worrying about your boyfriends vision loss and your future baby. Passing my RP onto my kids is something that I worried about a lot until I recently found out that mine will not be passed on. I wish you and your boyfriend the best of luck ❤️
I enjoyed your video very much. You are an adorable couple. I was married at the age of 19 and divorced it 35, raised my three boys as a single mom for 16 years. My boys are all in their twenties now and I remarried almost 4 years ago.
HI CAYLA AND ETHAN. NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU ETHAN AND YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON THIS VIDEO. AS ALWAYS CAYLA, IT IS GREAT TO SEE YOU TOO. THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO. A LOT OF WHAT YOU GUYS TALKED ABOUT ARE PRETTY SIMILAR TO MY WIFE AND I. AND LIKE YOU SAID, NOT ALL RELATIONSHIPS ARE PERFECT AND WE ALL HAVE OUR ISSUES WHETHER WE ARE SIGHTED OR BLIND. I AM JUST NOW BEGINNING TO USE VOICE OVER AND IT HAS BEEN PRETTY AWESOME TO USE. I JUST DON'T HAVE IT TALK AS FAST AS OTHERS AS I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND VERY WELl SINCE I AM HEARING IMPAIRED ALSO. I AM HOPING THAT AS TIMES GOES ON I WILL INVEST INTO AN APPLE WATCH ALSO. HOW ARE THINGS GOING WITH CLASSES AND INTERNSHIP? I BET YOUR NAILING IT!!! :)!! TAKE CARE YOU TWO AND THANKS FOR ANOTHER WONDERFUL VIDEO AND IT IS ALWAYS GREAT TO SEE YOU. HUGS AND LOVE!!
Thank you! It’s always good to hear from you. it sounds like you and your wife have a pretty good relationship. Voiceover definitely takes some getting used to, and I can understand how it would be extra challenging if you are hearing impaired as well. School and everything is going well, thank you for asking
*AWESOME VIDEO* I just met a blind woman through a mutual friend but we've only spoken over the cell phone by text. ( She's in another state) All kinds of thoughts and questions ran through my mind and I just did a search this morning and found your video. *Thank you so much for the valuable information*
That’s awesome! I wish you both the best of luck. And yes I think it would be OK to ask her for a picture. She can always say no if she doesn’t feel comfortable with it
Joshua Brande that’s a good question. I think we are both very good at verbal communication, and Ethan knows that I can’t pick up on visual cues so he has gotten used to being verbal. I also think we are very in tune with each other, so a lot of times I can just feel his emotions. Like I know if he is sad or angry by just sensing it in the way he is acting or the tone of his voice
It's all about letting go ... though I'll never not wish our 23-y-o son, also named Ethan, could see (for many reasons your Ethan mentioned) one of the best things in my life was being married to someone who thinks the same way I did about letting go of desperately wanting sight. (If you're always chasing something you'll likely never have, you'll probably miss the things you could be enjoying!) And, yeah, our Ethan is a *good* car companion, too! ; )
I don't like being in a big group of people that have disabilities because people assume oh you have the same disability just down but you're naturally Aldi or you have a special impairment and people assume things where as I rather be on my own
That happened to my link worker one time where he had someone come out to him who is very religious has said you're a saint for looking after people who are blind and I she politely pointed out it's my job it's no different because some people think all you're looking after a blind person it's it's great it's deadly but not sure reality it's a job that he had so I can kind of get what your husband is coming from
When your guiding her do you use "hand jesters " like grab her arm to stop, or wait, or lil things like so she don't step in a man hole. Lol. Maybe grab her wrist for other signals? Touch an elbow to slow down or things like that
Lucky Lovely Cute Beautiful Couples. God bless you with lot of love and happiness in your life. Just thank God for giveing a beautiful Gift called Life.😀😀😀
Baruch Hashem and mazal tov!!! Wondering what it is like to date with Jewish dating when I am legally blind within orthodox life what a girl may think of me in judaism!!!
I wish I could convince my wife to do something like this. Blind husband and whatnot. Edit: Biggest misconception question. My thinking "Oh god, he's going to do the whole "I have to take care of her" thing. Please no." Busts out the savior trope. I like your husband! He's as sharp as you are, Cayla! That trope never gets mentioned and it really should. My wife gets the "settled on" trope sometimes too. Edit2: And then you loop around to the caretaker trope anyway, lmao. Edit3: Just because he's not disabled doesn't mean he's not as damaged and bugshit crazy as you are :P The way I put it to the wife and to people who ask: Everyone is crazy. The trick is to find someone with whom your crazies match. Edit4: Best thing about having a blind wife? I SAW THAT GRIN, ETHAN!
Cayla my situation is a little similar but my wife gets annoyed sometimes bc I can't drive eitger... by the way what is your email address? I have a story for you
CPR Computer well in my opinion your wife shouldn't hold that against you because you can't drive however there are Mojo transportation but depends where you live in America so maybe that's something you should think about
The complication is that I stay a couple miles away from the county line all of my docs are over that county line and the mobile services won't come out there
And people get confused that are you independent or do you need assistance all the time because they're percent with Kayla and I don't think you're useless I don't think you can't function on your own you seem like a very careful person like a function on your own and that needs to be noted
You guys are a cute couple. Have you heard of Aira? If you haven’t or have not signed up for a plan and want some free minutes let me know. I can give you my code for that. Anyways, it might help you to be even more independent. They can help with online shopping, telling you if your Lyft or Uber is around or even if you are trying to match things clothing wise.
In you and turn your husband to try to come up and more videos of yours you should turn your husband too come out and more videos how do you take a shower or a bath if you're blind that's my question
My girlfriend of 2 years is blind it's interesting hearing other people's perspective. She's never been alone in her life

I've been talking to a legally blind girl for over 2 months now. She's sweet, she lives in another state. I'm going to visit her next month, I'm excited
That’s awesome! I hope things work out between the two of you
All I can say GOD bless you both
Thank you
I'm VI and though I don't use a screen reader, sighted people think I move around the screen too quickly with screen magnification on.
Thank you for this video. Very inspiring. I met a very nice blind woman. We both like each other. I'm in a very tight knit community. There will be a lot of stares and attention but i don't really care.
Congratulations both of you
Awesome video!! Nice to meet Ethan too. Have a great night guys
Thank you!❤️
Hi Cayla, you're such a pretty soul...🥰
I'm 19 and from India.
@@CaylawithaC my pleasure mam ❤🥰
I enjoyed your video very much. You are an adorable couple. I was married at the age of 19 and divorced it 35, raised my three boys as a single mom for 16 years. My boys are all in their twenties now and I remarried almost 4 years ago.
mrsteresa1999 thank you so much! I bet you really had your hands full being a visually impaired single mom of three boys
Wow, so lovely and pleasant watching you both.
Thank you!
Hello Ethan, nice to meet you! 😀
Love the video.
Thanks for making such good and down to earth content
Thank you so much! I really appreciate hearing that
That's great and touch other modern day and my hair and relationship
Y’all are lovely together. Great video!
Thank you! ❤️
Great job, just subscribed and love your channel. Was told I may go blind loosing my Peritheal vision and love seeing you as a couple.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel. Glad to have you
HI CAYLA AND ETHAN.
Great video, story, especially the bloopers at the end ;)
Thank you! I like the bloopers too. Sometimes I go back and watch them if I’m having a bad day and they cheer me up
*AWESOME VIDEO*
I just met a blind woman through a mutual friend but we've only spoken over the cell phone by text. ( She's in another state)
All kinds of thoughts and questions ran through my mind and I just did a search this morning and found your video.
*Thank you so much for the valuable information*
One question I have "is it okay for me to ask her for a photograph?
That’s awesome! I wish you both the best of luck. And yes I think it would be OK to ask her for a picture. She can always say no if she doesn’t feel comfortable with it
Awesome video! Ethan did great! I love the love you two share!
Thank you!
Great job guys!
Thanks Sam!
God bless you both❤️
Thank you
Hi there were the same,I'm also leeclly blind, and I'm from a small island, in the nation of microneia.
Lots of love Cayla!
Thank you!
Ethan and Cayla, great job! Love it!
Thank you!!
Loved it you guys are so cute together, God Bless and I look forward to future videos👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!!❤️
Good stuff, be well and enjoy all the little things...
Thank you ❤️
Ethan you did great mate 👍🏾
Communication is even more important. How do you work around the lack of being able to see physical gestures and body language?
Joshua Brande that’s a good question. I think we are both very good at verbal communication, and Ethan knows that I can’t pick up on visual cues so he has gotten used to being verbal. I also think we are very in tune with each other, so a lot of times I can just feel his emotions. Like I know if he is sad or angry by just sensing it in the way he is acting or the tone of his voice
You are amazing keep up the great work
Thank you!
It's all about letting go ... though I'll never not wish our 23-y-o son, also named Ethan, could see (for many reasons your Ethan mentioned) one of the best things in my life was being married to someone who thinks the same way I did about letting go of desperately wanting sight. (If you're always chasing something you'll likely never have, you'll probably miss the things you could be enjoying!) And, yeah, our Ethan is a *good* car companion, too! ; )
(Btw, I'm a voiceover actor/narrator - basically have been acting my whole life, and doing descriptive video for most of Ethan's!)
That’s definitely a good perspective to have. And that sounds like such an awesome job to do
I don't like being in a big group of people that have disabilities because people assume oh you have the same disability just down but you're naturally Aldi or you have a special impairment and people assume things where as I rather be on my own
What an inspiring story thank you for sharing with us
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it ❤️
You guys are such a cool couple
Amaaazing cupple. Love the vidio sooo much. God bless you.
Thank you!! I’m so glad you liked it ❤️
@@CaylawithaC ❤❤❤
Just thank God for giveing a beautiful Gift called Life.😀😀😀
Thank you!
I so want to go to Hawaii
Best couple great 👍
Baruch Hashem and mazal tov!!! Wondering what it is like to date with Jewish dating when I am legally blind within orthodox life what a girl may think of me in judaism!!!
Hi cayla
Maybe u know to get a guide dog
So u can go out
I am blind and I am guide dog soon
Awesome video!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it
BTW Ethan is that a kippah
you can do a perfect dark souls 3 cosplay
Good job bud, you guys are kool. 😁(smile face shows bright white teeth)👍
awesome!
Thank you!
I wish I could convince my wife to do something like this. Blind husband and whatnot.
Edit: Biggest misconception question. My thinking "Oh god, he's going to do the whole "I have to take care of her" thing. Please no."
Busts out the savior trope.
Maybe you will eventually convince her. It took me over a year to convince Ethan. And yes, I totally agree
You are beautyfull whitout your glasses to
Thank you
Im legally blind 🙈
Lol I'm not a back set driver either
So cute😆
Thank you!
I have a date next week sorry. I'm drunk.
Thank you! I have heard of them but haven’t really had the need for that service. Thank you for the offer though
Ethan seems night
This is just a joke but why can’t your husband stand behind you because he does he said he likes to stand in the background lol
Lol. He is actually over a foot taller than me, so even if he does stand behind me everyone can still see him lol
He looks very tired
Ah I don't like stairers
Don't be shy f em
I also want to blind wife. Ofcourse marring a blind women belongs to russian
SO, SHES NOT BLIND.
How about you take a look around my channel and then reevaluate this statement.
In you and turn your husband to try to come up and more videos of yours you should turn your husband too come out and more videos how do you take a shower or a bath if you're blind that's my question
Lov viddo sm2
