I was looking at the series s but no disc drive was a deal breaker for me, it does have some better quality of life features I'd say but as someone who enjoys playing older games, having the disc drive is a must. Don't like having to buy all my games digital, plus you can save lots of money with physical games. Also threw a 1tb ssd in it too so the load times are no longer an issue
You can just emulate your games, even without activating devmode
@Divine_ Healer Hey man would you care to sort of elaborate on that a little? What does one need to emulate games?

@@losersclub6961 yeah personally I already owned the series s and sold it after almost a year of owning it for money now 2 years later I have a one x and Ive played all this time with a 4k tv and thought the series s was amazing especially with mostly every game basically running at 60 fps and ray tracing. Yet after playing the one x I see now what playing games in 4k is like and I'm heavily contemplating on just getting a series x entirely and selling the one x I have. To get 4k ray tracing and 60fps for basically all your games plus not having to buy an extra storage drive is just beyond amazing to think about. Only problem is the size of the Xbox smh

@@jefferyflood yeah I really don’t like the form factor of the series X lol. I already have a powerful gaming PC, so for me it was an easy choice to get the Series S. I like the smaller form factor, and I mainly use it for playing games that don’t have cross play (like GTA online), and for watching movies/streaming apps. The form factor is clutch
Pulled the trigger on a Series S. Upgraded from the OG XBox One. It's awesome. So small, quiet and graphics are incredible.

The Xbox One X launched with features ahead of its time. For example, HDMI 2.1, Freesync Premium Pro with LFC and HDR (feature that doubles the frames on the screen with low latency and better colours). So if the GPU is at 30fps, the LFC will set to 60fps, if it is 60fps, it will set to 120fps in the display compatible with this range 30hz-120hz and technology, look, this work only 120hz settings. It also has Dolby Vision, Atmos, HDR10... The One X only need of one SSD to be better and the correct tv to show all power and features. Only in 2023 we have tvs with these technologys and accesive price.
The CPU is the bottleneck, crap CPU, amazing GPU
No disc drive is a deal breaker for me, all the other specs resolution frame rates hdd speed all become completely irrelevant at that point.
You have such great quality in your videos. They are great to learn from. They help to make sure I'm fully informed before buying and making videos.
I'm coming from the One X and even before buying the Series S I knew I'd be in for a treat, and boy was I right back then, I've had the series S for a couple of months and I Will never go back to the One X, it's just too slow when loading games, quick resume is a heaven sent and that nvme ssd crazy speed (4.5Gbps) is just incredible. The series S is a marvel of engineering.
Even playing from external HDD is blazing fast thanks to the updated CPU. I came from PS4 and the series S is blowing my mind, 60fps, smaller, super quiet, and cooler for only $300 is insanely priced paired with game pass ultimate it is the best "casual" gaming machine ever.
@@alpinthor I also saw some series S for $175 earlier!
I have Series s and am fairly happy with it. For 300 bucks it’s a good system. You will pay extra for accessories sure, but I can tell you as someone who has been a pc gamer as well(I had an amd ryzen 5, 16gb ram and an rx 6600xt to give you an idea). With the specs above my pc should have been more comparable to series x or ps5 I’d think.
That said I’ve had the series s console since late 2020. For what it is, the graphics for the series s being the low end console are actually pretty decent (I’m playing on a 65 inch). I actually sold my 6600xt, just wasn’t using it a lot. But I’m happy enough with the series s. Just remember to budget extra for an external hard drive. I would recommend a USB one though and not one of the expensive factory ones.
Is that 65inch 4k or 1080p I'm stuck as both TV's in my house are 4k panels and I've heard the series s really doesn't look good at 4k
@@potatoskins8155 The trick is set the resolution in the console to 1080p. Iirc 4K is 4 times the resolution of 1080p, so the scaling should be fine.
I use my old xbox one hdd to store games. Takes 10 minutes for big games like gta and red ded to transfer. Better than deleting and downloading.
I may jave gotten it over a PS5 if it had a disc drive. I travel a lot and I used to bring the PS4 with me everywhere, especially the slim.
You are incredibly under rated! Keep it up brodie, you will definitely shine soon!
Appreciate that! Thanks!

I have the One X and gamepass ultimate and just got the PS5 3 days ago at retail price from PS direct. I have not owned a PlayStation since PS2. If I was a new buyer who doesn't have any of the previous generation consoles I'd definitely go for Series X or S for gamepass alone.
How much does the game pass cost yearly?
There is no yearly. It's $10 a month for game pass, and $15 a month for game pass ultimate (ultimate gives you xbox live gold to play multi-player online).
So $120 a year for game pass
or $180 a year for game pass ultimate
I did the same thing I have a one x with game pass ultimate and I upgraded to the ps5
So I just got my Series X yesterday, jumping from the One S I can’t tell you enough how much better it is. My performance in game has improved because the game is just more responsive. That being said, new Gen is worth it, whether it’s the series S or the X
there is not much difference between the one x and series s.

It's worth saving for the better version. Ps5 is much better than series s. I can't speak for the series x as I've never played it.
Short and to the point information. I like it.
I love your vids man its straight to the point
Thanks Dude!! Glad you like them!
I have both, Series S for mostly GamePass and One X for enhanced backwards compatible disc gaming.
Yea and the Series X is even better for disc gaming, but at this point maybe wait for a Series X Pro haha.
I still use the OneX regularly for the likes of RDR2, metro exodus, final fantasy 15 etc as I value the visual experience of these games and the oneX knocks that side of things out of the park.. I then go to my SeriesS for gamepass and absolutely everything else now because it just makes everything feel so dammed good, I love it way more than anything I've ever had before. Yes the SeriesX would be nice eventually but their is just something about the crazy neat little S that really scratches a geek itch or something.
Yep it's good for extra framerates (especially) on fast paced shooters. But bad for resolution(s). Why I stick with the One X, even though I purchased a Series X for new content. Whenever THAT happens lol. Uggh
Bro play metro Exodus on next gen
The load times when you die on last gen made me delete the game
@@drummer7557 do you know why the resolutions are bad because I can tell you why

The series s has way better graphic capabilities. The one x just have better resolution. It's crisper image but it has less advanced lighting and reflection and the 3d audio is a massive immersion binus
Great video. I've been waiting for this upload
Hope you enjoyed it!
Series S, no question about it. I upgraded from an Xbox One X a couple years ago and I'm so happy about it. Way faster console, almost non existent loading times, quick resume, smart delivery, but most importantly framerate. That was so better it's hard to go back. Storage space was also not a big deal for me because I had an external HDD laying around so I use that one for original Xbox, 360 and One games.
Only bad thing about the Series S it's that it only uses the regular Xbox One versions of Xbox One games, instead of the enhanched One X versions:
And admittedly I miss the disc drive, that's true. But that's the only two things I don't like about it.
Not true, instead of 4k they're upscaled to 1440p.
Just got a OneX on the cheap last week! I like it alot, especially for playing older disc in my 20 yo xbox collection! Will get a series S also in the near future!
Same here bro! I've been a Sony and Nintendo fan for years. I wanted a ps4, but since I couldn't find one anywhere I settled for an Xbox one x; it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. I can go on, but I don't want to ramble lol
Might as well save up for the series x then to buy the series s it’s like buying the one x again just a lil better I understood if you had the one or one s then buy series s personality I have the gears 5 one x ima but a new a tv first hype then I’ll buy the series x it’s funny cause most people have new gen but don’t have a tv that can support 4K and 120 😂
@@federicofernandez3004 I might get me a series x in the future. I heard that they're about to start restocking them again
Yep the One X is still the beast, does many games at 30/and 60fps 4K Natively, the GPU is WAY more powerful than the Series S, and the resolution is about the same on 95% of the titles on the Series X, so I vote neither. I've had a lot of people say wow I can barely tell any difference in the One X and SX. And they're right. Just a small bump in FPS and an SSD. Yeah, not worth it imo.
@@drummer7557 it is if you are competitive and only play multiplayer. They aren't even close. One x is for people who don't play multiplayer 24/7.
1:57 i love how he spams the A button to "make it load faster"
Thank you I got Xbox series S because of your suggestions enjoying it a lot.
All I know is when I went on ebay or Facebook marketplace, I saw a lot more people offloading their Xbox series s consoles compared to the One X or Series X. And the one x is holding value and selling for prices near the series s when it's on sale. That pretty much answered my question on which one to get.
Lol. No it doesn't. That's survivorship bias or some sort. The demographics between S and X are two different people.
I personally own both of these consoles and I'd say they are really evenly matched. When I got my One X, I quickly replaced the hard drive with an SSD as you mentioned and this cut the load times in HALF if not more. I'm a little picky when it comes to visual quality and FPS in games and an even match is ideal but not always something you can have. This is a big reason why I like owning both of these consoles because when I'm playing a more competitive game requiring that high framerate I'll use the Series S, but on the other hand, I like to keep my story and arcade type games on my One X for the beautiful 4k support which surprises me to this day how well the One X keeps up, there's even some competitive games that are much better on the One X like Battlefield 1, one of my favorite games, that supports 4k 60 one the One X but only 1080p on the Series S! The only thing left to desire on the One X is ray tracing. at the end of the day I have a PC that's more powerful than both of these consoles combined lol but most of my physical and digital games that I still enjoy playing I only own on xbox, and its always fun to play on a console from time to time. Great vid I know I'm late by a year but I just thought I'd drop my experience in the comments.
U do realise series s is better in every way tho, 1440p and 4k upscaling looks almost identical to native 4k plus one x has grainy graphics and frame drops, mind aswell throw the x away
Plus I wouldn't say they're evenly matched at all, I own both and my series s both looks better performs better and offers my features and newer games
For me I rather have a one x all the way, then just upgrade to the series x when needed, because I want to play physical games that aren't on the Microsoft store
The SSD alone makes lots of difference and the 4K upscaling that Series S is very good. But the Series S was always ment to replace One S, while One X should be replaced by Series X (Given that you do play on a 4K TV or you're used to/expecting the best of the best.

I've Had a XBONE1X since 03/24/2020 and STILL use it.
I bought a SERIES "S" in May of 2021..... Got rid of it 5 months later just didn't enjoy it as I thought I would.....
XBONE1X does EVERYTHING I want and need.
Still rocking the one x, it's a beautiful beast
The One X was discontinued before the One S to lessen the Series S entry and to manufacture a big leap from One S to Series S.
I love the design of the one x and that white design ill rock both if i had that white one
I have a one x and seeing as how it holds up to the new gen I’m not gonna buy a new system until the next ones come out
You say that, but are you aware that Microsoft are no longer making 1st party games for the Xbox One family after Halo Infinite? All games going forward will be developed for Xbox Series X and S, and starting in 2023/24 the Xbox One family will be mostly if not entirely unsupported from 3rd parties as well. Meanwhile if you buy a Series S or X you get support until 2030 at the very earliest.
@@MichaelJamesonofgoogle exactly. when the xbox one came out, 360 games stopped being made around 2015 like 2 years after xbox one came out. in around a year, xbox one will be an old console and wont be relevant
Are u getting the new Xbox or not
Lol except when the contract is up there will be no more releases for Xbox One Period
Then you will not be playing much.
In my opinion the Xbone x is still the better console. It may not have quick resume, but it still has better gpu performance, accessible apps, and 4k blu ray playback which is a big plus. Also an SSD upgrade for the One X is rather cheap these days, so games and UI should feel faster. Series S has some RT, but the tradeoff is less visual performance in which I feel isn't worth it.
This is no longer true with the holiday sales on the series s. They were from $200 to $240 if you factor in the value of gift cards.
Series S offers WAY better performance, faster ram, better CPU, faster ssd, graphics are better by a LONG shot in most games, and series s offers more game and better features. One x doesn't even support unreal engine 5.1
bro you did all that but still can't play next-gen games 🤣just get the series s or x
Better visual performance, true, but at the cost of far slower gameplay & reduced FPS - it's a video game console not a picture game console - you want gameplay to feel fast & seamless.
The load times are immeasurably better on the new gen, the lighting with ray tracing stands out too. If you check comparisons between the two consoles by various gaming media outlets they virtually all side with Series S. True about the disc thing but it's all about needs & wants and many, myself included, aren't bothered by it 🤷🏻
I never used the internal storage for games on one x, just used a portable 2tb ssd
Great video bro but I just want to say that I love your hair man lol
Got a series s plus an external storage and it's amazing
Can someone do a review with 1080p displays. That I think it's the best these consoles excel at.
I don’t own any and am coming from 360 and windows which would you prefer and recommend?
For me, the disc drive is the make-or-break must-have feature. 💿
Just stick with the Xbox One X and buy an SSD and you basically do the same as the Xbox Series S (minus the Quick Resume feature). And just work on your backlog of games (if you have any) and upgrade to the Xbox Series X when you can. Well that's what I'm doing.
I think if you already have the One X then sure but from the One S it's worth the leap and the peformance is much more noticable than pixles.
@@stevenbishop1782 Yes very true but it also comes down to what you play on, for me it's an LG 65" tv so FPS isn't as appealing to me as pixels on a big ass tv. But I do see what you are saying about the Series S, I want to scratch that itch by upgrading but at the same time I don't want to give up that disc player. Decisions, decisions.
I have the series S and I love it so much. I’m so happy I got it. Love your videos!

I have both. I love my Series S and I love my Xbox One X. There are some games from the previous gen that I need the disc so the Xbox One X was a good replacement and I got it for $90.00 so it was easy to make that choice. The Series S is really fantastic, but I can tell that some games on the X that outputs 4K look crisper and sharper than the Series S. But as I love the fast load times, the great lighting, the Series S is fantastic and as a backup for other stuff, the One X is perfect.
The older physical desk hard drive inside it is not really much of a problem, and if you are generally bothered by it, you can get an SSD but can fit the same port. You could replace that hard drive with an SSD, but does the exactly same thing still fit and it still faster I use a disk based hard drive on my Xbox series. X no problem at all that hard drives that I’m using is 15 years old. I use it on my PlayStation 3 and it still works for my Xbox series X just fine.
Halo Infinite runs at a dynamic 1440p/60fps resolution on One X in performance mode.
I find those who say the One X is better to get rather than the newer Series S really ridiculous. Just the fact that future games are sure to come to Series S while they will eventually stop coming to One X in the near future should make a buyer lean towards the newer generation console.
The one X does the same resolutions as 95% of the games on the Series X and way above the Series S, which is a pretty huge deal, only real difference is the FPS and the SSD. Is that really enough to make the leap to the SX or Series S, umm certainly NOT. No must have next gen titles either. Also who wants to sacrifice great high end graphics running perfectly fine at 30fps/some 60fps for games running at 60fps at as low as 512p on the S. No thanks. Love my One X.
Guys, if you have a 4k tv, can the resolution be upscaled to 4k? I mean it would give a proper 4k experience
The Series S has a more powerful CPU, faster SSD and a significantly smaller footprint then the One X. The Obe X definitely has a more powerful GPU along with more RAM. Though the One X RAM is DDR5 opposed to the Series S is DDR6.

@@godsceo7516 Dude, they are both plastic boxes. LOL.... So, how in the hell does one feel cheap and not the other? Look wise, I like the One X look better as well. Though that's probably because they Series S is white which in itself makes look less attractive oppose to the black One X.
@@williamcopeland2617 are you blind or something lol? You can clearly tell they have different designs, at first glance its obvious the series s design looks way cheaper and both are white here, plus once you hold the series s it feels like a cheap box it only weights like 4 pounds

FYi - The Xbox One X supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. So, there goes the spatial audio theory…
bought a xbodx one x console only, for 100 pound, new paste and its running nicely
The Series S seems to be cheaper and more abundant on the secondary market, at least in my local market. I can pick them up for 150 any day of the week whereas everyone wants 175-200 for the One X. Granted, the One Xs tend to be package deals with some number of games and multiple controllers.
My guess is many people snatched up Series S's during the initial release when Series X's and PS5s were scarce (myself included) and have since upgraded, often keeping their extra controllers and not being able to bundle games with it keeps the pricing down.
In any case, 150 for a current gen console is a steal; nevermind the fact that you can play all the current gen games, this thing as a media device is enough value on its own with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. I can even stream movies and listen through Bluetooth when my kiddos are sleeping, can't do that through my tv.
One x supports kinect2.0, that is why I am not in a hurry to upgrade either way.

I LOVED my one x ... truly was one of my favorite xboxs of all time and I have owned them all as a OG xbox fan. (Bought my first xbox 2001 with summer lawn money). First time I booted up halo5 on the one x and saw jt running at 4k 60... honestly it was just stunning ( sadly the story sucked but luckily MP was still fun enough with firefight and infection).
That said the CPU In the series S is truly a world apart from the sad jaguar cpu In the one x. I honestly was hoping leading up to the consoles reveal in 2020 that they would find a way to more or less put the one xs GPU in a newer form factor with the nice ryzen CPU that was rumored ...sadly it wasn't quite that but hey the series S is still an amazing console and I respect tha heck out of it for being SMALL/EASY/PORTABLE and last but not least AFFORDABLE 👏 👏
Its pretty much either 1440@60(upscale to 4k) or 4k@30

Why didn't they add a disc drive is beyond me... Oh yeah so they can brag how much smaller the form factor is. LMAO. I think I can live with my slower load speed with my XBox One S since I still can purchased used low cost disc games and also use it as a BlueRay movie player and or play my old music CDs.
Locally people are selling the One X at $350 to $400 (seen at least 2 asking for $500 ) still in 2022
I got mine (online) for $315.
I got mine brand new for £117 with 2 games .. look on ebay...
Wdym its going for around 180$ now on facebook marketplace
Microsoft confirms Xbox series s/x upgrade for next generation RT + 60-120 FPS,is this true? Love your content, keep it up!
They release rdna 2 vrs feature which will increase the performance of the console. If its lazy Devs then we may get the same looking and performing games again.
@@manojvenkatesan904 thanks appreciate your input, will this be a software update on the console or is it on the gaming developers side?
@@christiaanvanderschyff8382 Its on the developers side feature to optimize the games.
An Xbox One X since I have a lot of disc games AND the X has 1 TB of space versus the 512 on the Series S. Wait until you see the price of a 1 TB memory card for Series S.
I’m still using the 2013 xbox one.
I have a PS5 and i went back to play on my Xbox One s and it felt so slow compared to the PS5
I think halo inifinite performance mode is 1440p 60fps on xbox one x
I recently experienced true 4k gaming for the first time in my life and oh wow was it incredible, I wasn't anything crazy at first but when I put the resolution back to 1080p it looked like actual shit, luckily though it was on my living room's big ass 50 inch tv so I had no problem going back to 1080p on my tiny laptop screen.
The one x for me is 100% worth it, ofc that's if I am going to play on a big 4k tv.
Right now- One X IF I change the internal hard drive to SSD
In like a year- Series S
That's the problem with the One X, cross gen is about ready to end and it'll be left in the dust (for comparison reasons) as more next gen games all of a sudden start getting pumped out and oh my gosh is that optimization happening too
6 tflops for the series S it would be ideal.
Idk i got it and got my money back didn't enjoy it was no memory had to transfer stuff and for the 220 the memory is you can have the x I'm happy i got my money back
My One X has been broken for years just constant startup error codes been fixed twice and back in for repair atm
