Wow! One of the most articulate, spot-on summary type videos I've seen for the Navy on UA-cam. I served on an SSBN submarine as an SK (Storekeeper/Supply) in the early 70's. In addition to my supply duties, out on patrol, I qualified and stood diving planes and later Sonar watches. One of the most fascinating times of my life. Submariners go through a huge amount of training and qualifications. It was all worth it once they pinned those dolphins on me. I had (and still do) great pride in serving with a crew of professionals on an amazing warship. If you're thinking of enlisting and want to be part of an elite team in the Navy, get study books and score above average on the ASVAB and volunteer for the submarine service.
I found your videos in my research about the navy, Im a guy, and your enthusiasm is making me believe that me joining the Navy Is the right decision to get my own life moving forward and changing it for the better
Loved this video. Im only 15 years old and I have thought about joining the navy so watching your videos have really helped me have a greater understanding of what it may be like
Don’t be worried , trust me it’s not hard just start working out ahead of time , remember 2 minutes for push ups and sit ups and your age depends on your time for a mile and a half run
Honestly don’t even worry about Push Ups and Sit ups work on your run. If you end up joining they will beat you everyday you’ll get better at pushups that’s a given. Then run during the final PFA is what sets people back. One of my friends bless her got hurt during her run and didn’t pass. Automatic setback 4 weeks she was devastated.
I love how you thoroughly explain without dragging the video while convincing me to join the navy all at the same time lol I was gonna go Air Force but I’m starting to change my mind 😩
Thank you so much for this info💕 I’m about to graduate college and I’ve been on the edge about joining as an officer but your videos have helped me decide to stop being afraid and just go for it
Great video!😊 The Navy has changed quite a bit since I was in. Boot camp was in hot Florida in the summer time (many black flag days lol). Once I hit the fleet on sea duty, the Enlisted didn't have barracks to live at when not working or in Port. We literally lived and worked onboard 24/7 while in our home port. We weren't allowed to have a place off base unless an E-4 (eventually I did get an apt near the base). Nothing like the smell of fuel and paint, but as you have said, you get used to it. Lol
this Young lady came into the US NAVY with a great plan. she reminds me of myself. I enlisted into the military back in 1985 to 89 the uniforms were the prison uniforms and I must say it is much better now. I kind of wish I could of experience wearing the NAVY uniforms of today. I enlisted in United States Navy because I wanted to travel around the world. I was stationed in Gaeta, Italy so the shipped traveled around Europe and I experienced a lot also got a great skill as a electrician while making some money , with 3 meals a day so at 19 to 23 you cannot beat that. also using chapter 106 for school was the payoff for me when I got back to civilian life graduating from college and working in IT FIELD for 15 years.
i leave July 2nd i'm nervous about the mile an half but i've bin running and stuff just start running a lil at a time and you will be fine even if you start on the threadmill but don't give up you will be fine
Very good video 👍 technology has moved on, there are always advancements but for the most part you still described the Navy I knew some +30 years ago. The OS rate has historically been great for advancement, every single sailor I knew (even those who strike OS from deck) ALL made E5 within their first enlistment, those that stayed made E6 or better after re-enlisting.
As far as the ASVAB I took mine while I was in high school so a lot of the stuff was relevant , the ASVAB is basic knowledge you learn throughout school, I know they sell books at Barnes and noble on studying for it similar to SAT or ACT books , when you go to a recruiting office they allow you to take a practice test
I took the practice test, passed WK, and PC but the AR and MK are the two I'm having trouble with because I hate math and I literally am a slow learner when it comes to it.
@@splashaajasz no, you just need someone to break math down so that you can understand it. I made no higher than a D+ in math from grades 6 to HS. When I got to college I took 3 remedial courses and struggled. It wasn't until I got to trigonometry and precalculus when I had good teachers. I ended up taking 10 more classes and averaged overall a 92 in all 10 classes from Calculus I to graduate level math. I am now working on my PhD as an environmental engineer math is no problem for me now and I am a math tutor. Don't give up.

I’ve faced obstacles and hard decisions from then to now, but now I’m currently considering pursuing a career in the military for more opportunity. Your videos are really helpful !
I have a question, my brother is currently at bootcamp & i’m going to his graduation I was wondering if I’m able to hangout with him after his ceremony like can I go out to eat with him? Or do they leave immediately after the ceremony after boot camp
AleayiahBaby my bf graduated last October from boot camp and he left two days after the graduation. We got like 8 hours with him during the day but they have a curfew. It depends on how full his next training is and when they plan on having them leave. It’s hard to tell
