I’ve been playing TF2 for almost 3 years now and I’ve topped the scoreboard many, many times as med and I still don’t have the “Do No Harm” achievement :,)
I am about to quote official TF2 lore. "Shakespearicles was the strongest writer who ever lived. He was the inventor of the two-story building, the stage play, America, and the Rocket Launcher. Despite his powerful grasp of language and the ability to bench press 700 British pounds, several inventions eluded his iron grip - most tragically among them, stairs. For the next three hundred years, people who needed to reach a buildings second floor used the only method available, which was rocket jumping. This persisted until 1857, when the young bearded inventor named President Abraham Lincoln invented stairs. "

I recommend you guys to watch "Expiration Date"! It's a episode supposed to be in a Adult Swim show, but Valve screwed it up and now it's just a animation on UA-cam... But a AWESOME one!
@@donaldtrumpling2016 It's true, expiration date was a pilot for a tf2 show on adult swim, however valve refused to agree with adult swim's policies so they ended up cancelling the show even before airing. If you look up on youtube "tf2 adult swim" (example: ua-cam.com/video/l3QLZHWns28/v-deo.html) valve made a couple of ads for adult swim too.
australians are actually big buff dudes who love fighting, while new zealanders are more introverted, less confrontational, and tech-heavy. the dude that practically runs both teams RED and BLU is a dude called 'saxton hale', an australian who has australia as his chest hair
I always played engineer. The thing is that there’s no ‘overpowered’ characters. With only 9 classes they all have counters. What’s interesting is the variety of weapons and items that can completely change the way a class plays. The demoman has a sub class labeled ‘Demo Knight’ that ditches the explosives all together in favor of a sword and shield combo that’s surprisingly effective. Every class has a use or a play style for someone. That’s why people keep coming back. Like the engineer, but are bored of building sentries? Switch to battle engineer and forget building anything. It’s fantastic. I’d hope that to see more TF2 related content, but there’s a really finite amount if you’re going by official content only. The fan made stuff is super fun and most of it fits into the canon simply because of how wacky the canon is. With that said I’d like to make a suggestion, Team Neighborhood. It’s basically a series where we get to see what these guys get up to during off hours. Each team gets one house to share because their company cheaped out on them and live across the street from one another. Hijinks ensue
Fun fact: the Spy's entire class is the result of a bug Way back when the original Team Fortress was still a mod for Quake, there was a glitch that caused people to show the wrong team colors
I guess I can add this to the list along with Creeper from Minecraft, and Gandhi being a warmonger in Civ. I am trying to recall others... Oh yeah. The ships moving faster in Space invaders.
17:23 No, that was not how Demoman lost his eye. The bottle went into the Blu Demo's right eye. He lost his left because when he was a child in the TF2 lore. I'm talking about the book. Its spelled as Bombinomicon not Bombanomacon......... And I know how he lost his eye no need to educate me about it. I've seen it way too many times.
Since 2011 I have put well over 17 thousand hours into TF2 and I have to say seeing newbies seeing the team for the first time brings tears to the eyes, also I'm a sniper/heavy/spy main
Some of these reactions honestly prove how expertly written these things are. 21:15 in particular, there was a subtle hint and it was picked up on. The entire short is littered with those too, it takes a few watches.
During the censored portion, the Demoman actually says: "They've got more fecking sea monsters in the great Loch at Ness than they've got the likes of me".
I don't usually like reaction videos, because it's often just a guy sitting in silence and watching a video, laughing every once in a while. This, however, is great! You guys put actual substance into your videos and actually *react* to content instead of just watching it. I love it!
Honestly, because of the limited roster of characters, Valve was able to put more character into theirs than Overwatch or Battleborn do for theirs. Since both of those games focus on having a wide roster of characters for a combination of abilities, they don't stand out as individuals as much. But each of the characters in TF2 you can tell what they are, who they are, and approximately what they can do at a simple glance.
finally some good reaction to meet the team. Most youtubers just giggle from time to time and thats all. Here at least we can see that they r interested in this and they r commenting it whole time
It is such a joy to see others appreciate the creativity and passion that went into creating these characters. The Meet the Team series always brings a smile to my face, and it's great to see others enjoy them as well! Meet the Spy still remains my favorite with the quick wit and surprises along the way.
Also the lore is great. Basically there is RED (Reliable Excavation Demolition) and BLU (Builders League United). Here are some fun facts to those who clicked "read more": Fun things to point out is Abraham invented the High five and was the original Pyro, Demoman's eye is haunted Heavy overegaderates the cost of his guns ammo to shoot (still expensive, but not as much) Engineer has 11 PHD's (Hard science) and has a robotic hand that is covered by the glove. He also invented a life extending machine that runs off of Australium, a rare metal found only in Australia. The metal gave australians the power to be tough, and even giving there women mustaches. Pyro sees a false reality, and had a hotly dispute if his sex was Male or Female Sniper was born in New zealand, which sunk since the scientist predicted a end of the world (which was false) Spy may or may not be Scout's father. The theory first came when there were pictures of the spy having a relationship with Scouts mother. Scout is not an only son, but has 7 other brothers (8 total, counting scout) all from Boston Soldier never got into the military, so he went to germany and killed germans. His stupidity is matched by a rock, because he has lead poisoning (obtained from 2-fort [tue fort] due to led in the water) Medic is not a doctor, apparently he took out his patients skeleton and as a bonus: TF2 once was sponsored by Adult swim as an agreement, and has comics that explain all the lore (story). Also the people in charge of the attack are two brothers, Blutarch and Redmond, you can figure out who is in charge of who. They had a brother that was taken by a Eagle, and raised. He is named Graymann. The funder of the war is Saxton Hale, a overly buffed aussie that has a plan to punch every animal in the planet to extension. Also fond of Yeti's. the people managing the war are the "Administrator" or referred to as the "Announcer" (Helen)and "assistant" (Pauling) TF2 was originally planned to be a realistic shooter game, but changed due to the developers. It is now an amazing cartoony game. TF2 was also thought to be "Dead". recently we were hit with a Bot crisis, where people would send AI's and try to ruin the game. Luckily this month we hit a all-time-peek of players. 2021 is turning great for TF2. Valve (the team that created TF2) has a orchestra themself. All the music in the game is made by them. The main goal when the devs were making the characters, was to make all of them easy to distinguish. Heavy's large body, and Scouts narrow body to name just two of the nine. When scout explodes during the game, a pigeon would of flown out of him. I believe it was removed after some time. TF2 was banned in germany. It was recently lifted, and blood and gore was replaced with Oil and Mechanical parts. Honorable mentions: Rick may: Rest in peace, unfortunately died of Covid in 2019. The person who played the Saxophone during meet the medic: I believe the name is "Lisa", but don't quote me on it. Siriously, he/she is going out hard. To answer some questions: Who fights who? Red V.S. Blu Is it online? Yes. Is it actively worked on? Currently, no. However with the recent spike in players, it might come back.
A few things to correct you on. The medic _was_ a doctor. He specifically mentions in Meet the Medic that he _lost_ his medical license, meaning at one point he was a practicing doctor. He also was not the doctor who stole the skeleton, he was telling the story of another doctor. The only other point I have is that the Spy is confirmed to be the Scout's father. There's no "may or may not."
Fun fact: in the meet the spy, right when the blu spy says "it could even be-" the red spy after changing disguise follows up and says "Right behind you"
It's truly amazing to see people laugh and enjoy Meet the Team even though all the videos are over 10 years old. It shows how timeless the writing of TF2 is.
Was so fun seeing you guys react to this! You should definitely check out Expiration Date. If you watch Mann vs. Machine, you have to watch the second part "sound of medicine" as well. these are all official TF2 videos.
I never thought I would find a react channel like this. you're guys' reactions seem pretty genuine, you don't pause too much, you two even made me laugh, getting me to laugh is pretty damnd difficult for most people. you guys have my sub
I love zipping around as the Scout and being able to capture points and hit people without them getting a chance to retaliate. Engie nests are also fun and popping heads as sniper is a strong third
A Little fun fact: The Mercenaries have been fighting over a piece of land for generations. Their employers are Blutarch Mann and Redmond Mann who wanted to have a piece of land in the middle of the desert for themselves. The current team is set somewhere between the 60s and the 70s Also, Medic is the only man that manages to Outsmart bullet.
One of my favorite TF2 experience is I played spy and I immediately rush into the enemy's spawn as either disguised as another spy, engineer or a medic and I've had many people get fooled for so long all due to me not even doing anything, just sitting near there spawn and making them think that this dude was really on there team
I have Medic's voice lines bound to key shortcuts, in the game. every time I play, I send them through chat, like "Whuups... zat vas not Medissin!", "I dunnot zhink Ve broght enoff Bodybags!", "Torn yorr Hedd and coff!", "Hold shtill Shvainhund! Zis vil only shting fur a moment!" for people who've played medic themselves and know these lines, it goes straight to their brains, friend or foe. same with Soldier, it boosts morale: "You've done me proud, boys!", "Ev'rewan of yew d'servs a medal!" I turn into a bootleg R. Lee Ermey.
"Feelings? You know who has a lot of feelings? Blokes who bludgeon their wife to death with a gold trophy. Professionals, have standards." This is a reference to a true story. Not sure exactly where but, it happened in Australia.
canonically, the first one in the video was the last one to record his meet the team. he was talking for so long, that he used up the rest of the tape.
"Meet the Engineer" convinced me to buy the game, even though my opinion of online Multiplayer games like this was X-Box Live arseholes who gave gaming a bad name - but the Meet the Engineer was so good that I decided to give it a short anyway. My preferred character was the Medic - and I was a damn good one too. Engineer was just too popular, Sniper was fun but Toxic if you weren't good (same with Spy), but Medic? A bad Medic was appreciated. A good Medic got you invited onto private servers and part of private teams, and I played on a half-dozen in the two years or so that I was active. Fun times - I still miss it, particularly when I'm trying to play League of Legends. But I can't get my old Steam account back (Both the credit card I used AND the email address I probably used are now defunct), and I've moved on. But still got a soft spot in my heart for TF2.
Sad fact: the voice actor of the Soldier, Rick May, that also voiced Pepper on Star Fox 64 and acted in another comedy films, sadly died by COVID in April13th 2020 Rest in peace, hero ;(
Each character has ~15 minutes of in-game voicelines which makes it pretty immersive. In casual matches every class is very capable and can destroy a server with enough skill. In competitive it is a very specific meta that you have to learn to play and strategize around. Over all just play casual as whatever class(es) you enjoy most and if you really get into it and want to take the game seriously sign up for a competitive team.
You guys should check out the official TF2 short film "Expiration Date", it's extremely well made and very entertaining, and introduces a few new characters as well. EDIT: should've looked at the related videos 😂
My favorite thing is that if you watch the way the red spy disguised as the scout, the way he flips the knife he's holding the safe handle so he only hit his finger with the back of the blade so there was no way he cut himself but it was very convincing
Fun fact: the pyro canonically doesn't realize he's killing people, that pastel candyland is what he actually sees because of the special goggles he wears.
whoever did the music direction for meet the medic is a god damn artistic genious. everything from "doctor! are you sure this will work?" to the ending is so god damn hype because of it. god damn.
Fun fact despite sniper being raised I Australia according to tf2 lore from the comics he was actually born in New Zealand which was for some reason underwater but supposedly something was possibly going to destroy new Zealand and snipers mother and father wanted to escape themselves but baby sniper snuck into the rocket and launched himself into Australia which is why unlike most other Australians in tye tf2 universe sniper stayed scrawny

It's a episode supposed to be in a Adult Swim show, but Valve screwed it up and now it's just a animation on UA-cam... But a AWESOME one!
No...? It was only made to promote the love and war update. Where did you get that it was supposed to be an adult swim show
@@donaldtrumpling2016 It's true, expiration date was a pilot for a tf2 show on adult swim, however valve refused to agree with adult swim's policies so they ended up cancelling the show even before airing.

And it’s that exact reason why TF2 is still so well liked after nearly 20 years

Never heard of this “Chicago” before, but it’s great to see some actors appreciate these cinematics.
The entire thing with Pyro is that his optical mask makes him see everything and the world as sweet and happy instead of as it actually is
Also the lore is great.
Basically there is RED (Reliable Excavation Demolition) and BLU (Builders League United).
Here are some fun facts to those who clicked "read more":
Fun things to point out is Abraham invented the High five and was the original Pyro,
Demoman's eye is haunted
Heavy overegaderates the cost of his guns ammo to shoot (still expensive, but not as much)
Engineer has 11 PHD's (Hard science) and has a robotic hand that is covered by the glove.
He also invented a life extending machine that runs off of Australium, a rare metal found only in Australia. The metal gave australians the power to be tough, and even giving there women mustaches.
Pyro sees a false reality, and had a hotly dispute if his sex was Male or Female
Sniper was born in New zealand, which sunk since the scientist predicted a end of the world (which was false)
Spy may or may not be Scout's father. The theory first came when there were pictures of the spy having a relationship with Scouts mother.
Scout is not an only son, but has 7 other brothers (8 total, counting scout) all from Boston
Soldier never got into the military, so he went to germany and killed germans. His stupidity is matched by a rock, because he has lead poisoning (obtained from 2-fort [tue fort] due to led in the water)
Medic is not a doctor, apparently he took out his patients skeleton
and as a bonus:
TF2 once was sponsored by Adult swim as an agreement, and has comics that explain all the lore (story).
Also fond of Yeti's.
the people managing the war are the "Administrator" or referred to as the "Announcer" (Helen)and "assistant" (Pauling)
TF2 was originally planned to be a realistic shooter game, but changed due to the developers.

Rick may:
Rest in peace, unfortunately died of Covid in 2019.

Is it actively worked on?
Currently, no. However with the recent spike in players, it might come back.
thank for the history lesson man
Correction: Rick May passed away on 2020
scout still has the effect when he's gibbed
it's just a 1% or less chance
A few things to correct you on. The medic _was_ a doctor. He specifically mentions in Meet the Medic that he _lost_ his medical license, meaning at one point he was a practicing doctor. He also was not the doctor who stole the skeleton, he was telling the story of another doctor. The only other point I have is that the Spy is confirmed to be the Scout's father. There's no "may or may not."
@@anonymousaccordionist3326 Yeah, i shoulda made that more clear.

"Feelings? You know who has a lot of feelings? Blokes who bludgeon their wife to death with a gold trophy. Professionals, have standards." This is a reference to a true story. Not sure exactly where but, it happened in Australia.
I have a feeling that the TF2 community might live on, thanks to you :)
canonically, the first one in the video was the last one to record his meet the team. he was talking for so long, that he used up the rest of the tape.
TF2 is free now. so a new account and start again. sure you lose the cosmetics but oh well. its still the same game even with baisic weapons :))

Each character has ~15 minutes of in-game voicelines which makes it pretty immersive. In casual matches every class is very capable and can destroy a server with enough skill. In competitive it is a very specific meta that you have to learn to play and strategize around. Over all just play casual as whatever class(es) you enjoy most and if you really get into it and want to take the game seriously sign up for a competitive team.
the Demoman drinks so much cuz without an eye he lost his depth perception and drinking just kinda gives him that back
You guys should check out the official TF2 short film "Expiration Date", it's extremely well made and very entertaining, and introduces a few new characters as well.
EDIT: should've looked at the related videos 😂
My favorite thing is that if you watch the way the red spy disguised as the scout, the way he flips the knife he's holding the safe handle so he only hit his finger with the back of the blade so there was no way he cut himself but it was very convincing
Fun fact: the pyro canonically doesn't realize he's killing people, that pastel candyland is what he actually sees because of the special goggles he wears.
it's not known if it's because of the goggles, that's just the cosmetic items effect
lorewise we don't know why he sees the world like that
he sees the world like that, pyrovision goggles make us see what he sees
whoever did the music direction for meet the medic is a god damn artistic genious. everything from "doctor! are you sure this will work?" to the ending is so god damn hype because of it. god damn.
Took ya long enough. Hope you do Expiration Date soon!
