Other materials that can be added to Ork (or generally industrial) terrain:
-Cereal box card stock, for thinner panels than chipboard (and it's virtually free)
-Drywall mesh tape (easier to paint and attach than granny grating; cheaper, too)
-Drinking straws (paper is preferable, for sturdiness and ease of paint adherence) for pipes
-Beads of various sizes and shapes (for greebling)
-Jewelry chains (stiffen with super glue)
-Random minis attached to poles or walls, as grisly warnings (cheap zombie minis are great for this; Twilight Creations has tons of them that can be bought singly or in bulk)
-Dollar store tank toys (paint them rusty and make them look wrecked, or harvest parts for decoration)
-Halloween bone decorations of appropriate size, for use in more Snakebites style "primitive" terrain (like piles of giant bones of the beasts they hunt)

Well well well, since you mentioned wanting a set of terrain for each faction, any chance we can see some classical space elf terrain? (I'm looking to make my own board of it but theres a distinct lack of tutorials for the Eldar, Erics Hobby Workshop probably has the best one but I'm looking for alternative ideas as well)

Looks wicked, and really goes to show what some simple materials and slap-dashery can do, 'cause they come together great. I especially like the tip for making corrugated metal sheets.

It's like Jazz. It's the crafting version of listening to a great Jazz trio, the improvisation blended with the skill and on top of that just really positive vibes. Seriously, that's how I feel watching Wyloch and other channels like Eric's Hobby Workshop. I've been painting Orks all month and now I'm inspired to make some terrain for them. Well done, Wyloch.

  • @notreallydavid

Great stuff, like every other time.
I'm gathering material to make some scrappy barricades. Bizarrely, I keep picking up bits of flattish broken plastic of various thicknesses (up to 0.5mm-ish) while I'm out walking. I think the incorporation of varying thicknesses of plastic-as-metal into the model alongside cardboard (various thickness again) might add a literal additional dimension to the Attempt. The pitting and scratching of the sort of plastic detritus you find in waste skips or in the gutter might be helpful too - in some instances it'll even need toning down by light filing.
(Wake up at the back, dammit.)

Could you eventually go back and add details to this speed build? So that you can have a table rush built for an unexpected game, but over time make it into a more aestetically pleasing one.
How would you go about it?

    • @WylochsArmory
      @WylochsArmory  2 роки тому +1

I would paint on some black and white checker stripes. And choose an orange and brown wash and do sporadic splotches with those, as opposed to the full body wash already done with that MM brown mix. And you can make smaller features that can be placed anywhere, such as the Krane you see that I placed on top of the pringles tower.
