      A lot of Floridians and Texans are scoping out San Francisco real estate because of its moderate climate. They're trying to escape the heat and humidity and encroaching climate change in their home states.

    Beautiful City! Love San Francisco and wish I could live there. FYI, if you just would have walked to some of the neighborhoods directly to the south, it's a completely different scene, especially during Gay Pride month on a Sunday. No one goes to downtowns on a Sunday at 10 am, let alone on Father's Day. Accordingly, this video has a very biased point of view. The truth is San Francisco is safe. It has fantastic infrastructure, natural beauty, unique architecture and temperate climate. No wonder tourists and the wealthy flock there.

      Basically, if you don't deliberately go to the Tenderloin and don't try to streetpark an obvious airport rental car with luggage and backpacks in the trunk/back seat then you will be 100% fine. SF is really not a violent crime hotspot. Yes, there's been an increase in non-violent crime, thefts, etc. But it's not really a problem if you stay away from the bad neighborhood and don't leave obviously valuable luggage visible in a car.

      Sorry but not a right wing conspiracy. ABC, NBC, FOX and NBC have all reported that out of 63 metro areas, San Francisco is dead last for its recovery post COVID. You may also reference the record number of stores exiting the downtown area. I promise you that if there was a profit to be made they would stay but sadly things are as bad as reported and about to get worse as the exodus accelerates from here. Also note that federal employees at the Pelosi building are now being advised to work from home indefinitely as a result of the risk to employees entering the building.

    I'm sorry, but this is not how a deserted, "in-decline" city looks like. You seem to be "surprised" a lot in this video. This looks almost perfectly clean. The streets look obviously pressure washed. The first area that you showed is the most office-heavy part of downtown. People have been criticizing it for being deserted outside of the 9-5 for decades now. They're adding housing there but very slowly so that's bound to be pretty empty during the weekend. The only time that the Embarcadero area gets busy during the weekend is when the farmers market is on at the Ferry Building.
    The rest of the route is as expected. The closer you get to Powell the busier it gets. The tourists pool in the touristy spots around Powell street. That too is the way that it has always been.
    Oh, and by the way, tourism in SF is currently at above 80% of pre-pandemic levels. It was 30% in 2021 and 50% in 2022. By next year they expect to surpass pre-pandemic levels. That's why the hotel rooms cost $300 dollars. They're not crazy. They keep the rates at whatever gets them above 80% occupancy. They're at normal occupancy rates but slightly below normal prices for an average year pre-pandemic season. Not completely slammed like they are during major conferences, but definitely nowhere close to empty.
    I'm afraid that you too have been taken in by the right wing propaganda. Splitting the difference does not work in our media environment. The propagandists know that this is what most people tend to do so they just let an overwhelming amount of propaganda flow in order to bias people closer to their side.

    • @StrollwithMe1
      @StrollwithMe1  Рік тому

      2021 was the year that the most people moved out, the city estimated it at around 55k moved out. I saw at least one moving truck every few days in my neighborhood that year. Last year it slowed considerably, but I think there was still a decline of a few thousand in the city. To give you some context, in 2021 there were a lot of apartment vacancies and rents dropped by about 1/3 compared to 2018-2019. Last year, rents climbed again but not to those highs (maybe about 75-80% of what they were before). Now there are far fewer vacancies and rent is stable at that level. From the looks of it, maybe for the next couple years it will be like this.

    The problems are not the same as in the past. In the past the problems were caused by recessions and housing bubbles bursting. Today, the problems are a breakdown of law and order caused by the legalization of theft and reduction of cops and rampant homeless that do whatever they want. It won't improve until law and order is restored.

    • @TohaBgood2
      @TohaBgood2 Рік тому

      It's already improved significantly. During the pandemic they completely halted any encampment removal so this stuff spread all over the city. A few months back the started the removals again and herded everyone back to the Tenderloin. Incidentally, that's what Fox News has been capitalizing on. All the homeless and drug addicts have been herded into a tiny neighborhood where all the homeless shelters are located. So now a ton of them that used to be in encampments are all hanging out there.
      You gotta be careful with outright propaganda outlets. They have no intention of informing, they have another agenda. If you look closely at all those "San Francisco is doomed" videos, you'll see the exact same corner, the same grocery stores shot from 15 different angles at different times a day to make it appear like the mess is a widespread problem. That's hilarious for locals to watch, but does fool some of the out-of-towners 😁😁😁

      You won't have to wait too long. San Francisco and its surrounding area are already being scoped out by people seeking climate change relief. They're drawn to its moderate weather. Because of this weather, it will be one of the less risky areas to live in. Yes, San Francisco is earthquake prone but the people who are now investing in the city's real estate are coming from states that will see an increase in killer hurricanes, severe flooding and unlivable heat and humidity. They accept that no place is completely safe.

    • @TohaBgood2

      Dude, tourism was at 30% in 2021, 50% in 2022, and at 80% right now. By next year it will be back to 100%. The mayor seems to be getting ever more successful in bullying the Board of Supervisors to deal with the homelessness and crime issues. They can all feel the backlash in public opinion.
      SF is already pretty much indistinguishable to pre-pandemic times. By next year, it will be better than it ever was but with more and cheaper housing and better public safety than pre-2020. The right wing propaganda will keep trying, but you can't fight gravity.
