TH is a simpler game in many ways. Actually had time to give some examples :)

I'm a big fan of cameo fly....

      Ha!
I wondered if anyone would notice it, as I certainly did when i was editing. But i thought "sod it, I'm not reshooting because of pesky cameo fly"

Tammany Hall, also known as the Society of St. Tammany, the Sons of St. Tammany, or the Columbian Order, was a New York City political organization founded in 1786 and incorporated on May 12, 1789, as the Tammany Society.
It was the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in controlling New York City and New York State politics and helping immigrants, most notably the Irish, rise in American politics from the 1790s to the 1960s.
It typically controlled Democratic Party nominations and political patronage in Manhattan after the mayoral victory of Fernando Wood in 1854, and used its patronage resources to build a loyal, well-rewarded core of district and precinct leaders; after 1850 the great majority were Irish Catholics.

Yeah, specifically its board, which is traced from a map of Slovakia.

Just curious, what about the map being a trace of Slovakia is bothersome?

It's incredibly lazy and utterly lacking in any imagination. While also being painfully obvious to anyone with decent geography.

All good info, but why is there a fly on the board? 02:00

I came here looking for a 3-minute historical summary of Tammany Hall lol. What a misclick...

Fair, lol. Well, the game does appear to be very much rooted in the ideas of the real Tammany Hall, but no.

I would suck at this game cause Im black.,. White privilege only. Almost close to monopoly. Oh that's right. Black folks were denied that too.

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 років тому +6

Yep. This game, like that period politically, dramatically under represents black people in New York city.
Not being black, nor American, I really can't say much more than that. The designer and publisher are mentioned above if you want to engage with them as i'm just a recapper. The history and context of the game is also well outside my personal experience as I am from Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Nga Mihi and thank you for your Korero.

Don't sell yourself short! I don't believe anyone is good or bad at a game simply because of the color of their skin.
If anyone came to my game table and told a black person they will suck at a game because they're black, I would have to ask them to leave - that's very disparaging.
All are welcome at my table as long as they are willing to play.

@@gmscott9319 how all are welcome to your table and you said you will suspend anyone who says black people will suck at this game?!

That's some interesting context Erik. As i said above, the history of Tammany Hall isn't something i know at all well. But that makes sense
